Sexual addiction is a very real paraphilia; Wikipedia describes a paraphilia as “characterized by recurrent, intense sexual urges ... and [causes] ... impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning."  It is a disorder that is so mentally consuming, that it can negatively affect a person's effectiveness in the workplace or even distance him from his friends.  If someone's mind often wanders from the task at hand to thoughts of sex, he won't be able to get any work done or pay attention to what anyone is saying.  The increasingly sexual images in mass media have only helped to reinforce this behavior.  Most people are exposed to the media multiple times

1. Is sexual addiction/ sexual compulsivity a realistic paraphilia? Do you feel the increase of sexual images in mass media has increased the prevalence of sexual addiction? Why or why not?
