The twin bolts never found their targets. With almost impossible speed—perhaps driven partly by the blade itself—Ochi swept the Sith dagger up to protect himself, deflecting the blaster bolts with the blade. One reflected bolt clipped the droid captain’s shoulder, causing that arm to fall; the other bolt shorted into the Legacy’s decking.

The droid captain fired again with its one remaining weapon.

Again, Ochi deflected the bolts with the blade. He wasn’t sure how he was doing it, how he could even be fast enough to catch the bolts or lucky enough that the blade was in just the right place, at just the right angle, to protect him.

Let alone defend him. Three blaster bolts fired in quick succession were returned to the droid just as fast, the blade angling them to hit vulnerable points in the droid’s exoskeleton. It fell in a shower of sparks and flame then slid down the side of the speeder and twitched on the floor.
