Personality:
ChiMei is a generally cold person, who’s known for being rather quiet. Though she is actually a very caring, and sweet person to those she cares about people often misjudge her. They think she is cold, rude, and emotionless, and yes sometimes she can be a little emotionless, but she really is quite nice. People often see ChiMei, as scary dude to re RBF also known as resting bitch face. Now don’t be deceived by her rbf, and caring personality. Chi Mei is actually quite wild, and crazy once you get past her think outer shell. She’s often compared to her twin sister YiLuang  better known as Minji. Minji is said to be the “better” twin. They say she is a better dancer, and singer, and ChiMei is often compared to her.

ChiMei doesn’t mind being in public, and will take the occasional picture with fans, but she does tend to stay in the middle of the group when they are in public to hide from the attention.

ChiMei lives taking pictures with fans when in public, but she often shy’s away from all of the attention when in public, and let’s her members have it. She’s not the type to really embrace the attention, but she doesn’t push it away that much.

Background:
ChiMei was born in Shanghai on October 7th, 1995 along with her twin sister Yilaung. For the first four years of her life she lived in a small house in Shanghai with her twin sister, younger brother, and parents. During those four years she would play games with her sister, and brother, and at the time they all got along well. Things between the siblings however began to go downhill after they moved to Beihai. They lived in Beihai for 5 years, and those were some of the worst years of ChiMei childhood. About a year after her 5 person family moved to Beihai, there was a huge conflict between ChiMei, and YiLuang. Though they were only six years old they began to resent each other. Now a little backstory in this; at the age of five ChiMei, and YiLuang began leading the piano, and taking vocal lessons. They would always be compared during tests, and exams making them become increasingly competitive with each test. There was one time when YiLuang beat ChiMei by a half mark, and she kept rubbing it in ChiMei’s face. After that ChiMei swore she would beat her sister, there was a constant tension between the two, and it carried on throughout their life. During all this ChiMei was very close to their young brother Yixing, and he would always listen to ChiMei rant about YiLuang. They lived in Beihai from 1999 to 2004 then moved back to Shanghai. By the time they moved back they were only nine years old, and already the twins hated each other. One thing ChiMei regrets about when she lived in Beihai was in the second grade when she didn’t try out for the choir, and her sister got a solo instead. Back in Shanghai ChiMei, and YiLuang were the y’all of the school. They were beautiful, and talented, and everyone knew they hated each other. In their second year of high school ChiMei was dating a guy named Chen who was a year older, and one day she got home to find Chen making out with YiLuang on the couch. That was her tipping point from then on no love was felt for her sister, of course if she died she’d be sad, but she really didn’t absolutely detest her sister YiLuang. (Lmao there are 19 sentences)

How she became a trainee:
She was scouted while at a regional competition, but there was only one spot, and they gave it to her sister, so ChiMei auditioned, and got in immediately.

Trainee life:
ChiMei was well known among trainees, and trainers, but not mostly because of her talents, but because of her sister. She was said to be a worse sister, or the runt. Though she trained hard, and made an effort to make sure everything was perfect. She would always be over critical, and would often stay later then everyone else just to make sure she had it perfect. There were a couple instances where she was bullied by YiLuang’s minions, but she made sure not to let them know they were getting to her.

Smrookies life:
Honestly ChiMei didn’t mind having to live with a bunch of guys, and girls. Of course she’d rather have less people in one dorm, but what could she do. As far a activities she was apart of, she was one of the most active, and well known rookies. She loved the rush of performing in front of hundreds of people, so she’d try to be in as many performances, and events she could be in during her time as a rookie.

Scandals / Rumors:
-In 2012 it was rumoured  that she was dating Sehun of exo but that was not true.
-A scandal between her, and Taeyong as they are rather close, and people think they are dating when they aren’t.

Nct-miss best friend:
Volume up is her best friend, and they have the kind of give, and take relationship. They are always there for each other, and love making jokes, and messing around with each other. They may not be the crazy friends that do everything with each other, but they always look out for each other, and care a lot about one another.

-Hina (smrookies), Though Hina is much younger then herself, they get along quite well, and love to joke around with each other.
-Ten (nct u), ChiMei, and Ten get along really well, and understand each other’s feeling in a way none of the others do. They have this special bond that is almost like the one between ChiMei, and her brother Yixing. They care immensely about one another, and seem to have this sixth sense that lets them know when the other is hurting. They live to play pranks, and be super sarcastic with each other.
-Winwin(nct 127), Winwin is another Chinese member, and at first they became friends because Winwin needed help with learning Korean, and as ChiMei had been a trainee longer, and also knew Cantonese, and Mandarin she was a good choice to help him. They clicked very well, and became incredibly close friends with a short span of time. There is lots of skin ship between the pair, but only brother sister kind.
-Taeyong(nct), Taeyong, and ChiMei are bigger leaders if their respective groups, and spend lots of time together due to them being sister/brother groups, and their overlapping schedules. During those times the pair began realizing their similarities, and thought it was funny how both of them were leaders, and have similar personalities. They became very good friends, and have a relationship similar to ChiMei, and Volume up’s relationship. There is lots of skinship that isn’t always brother sisterly.

  Mirror: In private ChiMei doesn’t talk to mirror that much, only to ask her questions, and make sure she’s feeling alright.
  Hate: She often checks up on Hate to make sure she’s ok, but also scolds her for being overly confident.
  The light: She likes to joke around with her, but often scolds her for some of her more rude teasing.

But overall she treats them like family.

There is no specific way she acts towards each member in public, as she is a more emotionless person. One thing though is that she loves randomly hugging her members.

Trivia:
-In 1997 ChiMei had a crush on a guy named DongChang. She thought he was really cute, and had a low key obsession with him. One day ChiMei tripped in front of him while they were playing on the play structure at the park.
-When ChiMei was 10 she learned how to cook but she kept burning all of the food.
-She became a trainee at age 15 in 2010, and has been training for 7 years with sm.
-ChiMei has a very good relationship with her brother Yixing, and they trust each other more then anyone, they tell each other absolutely everything, and always go to each other for advice.
-She achieved the highest level of piano at age 7, and preformed many times for school concerts, and regional competitions.
-In the second grade she was stuck in an elevator for almost 10 hours, with her then best friends Lillian with the groceries for their two families as they went to buy groceries together. Neither of them are claustrophobic so they weren’t panicking due to fear of small spaces, but they were panicking because it kept feeling like the cables were going to break.
