  24. A thing that no one expected: a ship matching nothing in any registry, modern or historical, appearing within Hawaiian waters quite out of nowhere. This of course set the cat among the canaries, so to speak, but rather than taking any sort of action, the ship launched a helicopter from an internal hangar, which ferried an individual to the island. No one in the public is told any of this is out of the ordinary - it's certainly an odd ship but barely a dot on the ocean from the coast - and no one outside the admiralty is privy to what was discussed. The only thing really taken into account is that this ship leaves Honolulu shortly after, for the mainland.

  26. Not long after this, a fleet set sail from Japan with a weapon designed to be effective against the Fleet of Fog. And while they ran into several battles and continuous struggles, about midway through their journey any resistance simply... evaporated. They did see a handful of odd black monoliths floating in places above the ocean's surface as they neared their destination, but all they seemed to do was float ominously, a glowing green sphere at their apex.
  27.
  28. Once they got to the mainland, they were thanked for their assistance and told that their service was appreciated and the weapon would be valuable, if something called an adaptive cruiser hadn't come through and simply bullied its way through half the Pacific's fleet of fog vessels, due to having vastly superior weapons. Apparently particle whips don't give a whit about your ship's defenses, and monoliths had apparently proven highly effective in sub hunting and were being sent out to corral and exterminate the Fleet of Fog, if they weren't willing to either join humanity or surrender. A surprisingly large number of them chose to join.

  30. Also apparently during their voyage, Earth had joined a confederacy of other Earths, so there was that.
