Gone are the days when manufactures set expectation to produce and succeed with minimal to no current technology to so. In the identification of the business requirements, we want to uncover actual processes and redundant behavior within the Riordan Manufacturing Company. When these particular items are identified, we can start to eliminate the small things that are costing the company unnecessary monies. Because of the advancement of technology, that provides more up to date methods of limiting paper trails. To ensure longevity of this company, it is essential to incorporate some well-organized business practices. Riordan Manufacturing is a well-established company, but is leisurely to reacting to change. I believe the new implemented plan I have in mind will keep this company up, running, and lasting for many years to come. The first requirement is to cut out the intermediary persons and create a more free flowing transaction for a better work process. We will create a better process by using handheld scanners instead of a human. Employees slow down production of inventory whether it is in shipping or receiving. In recent years, there has been an ever-increasing desire for technological advancement in company of every size. Companies are opting out of paper trails and promoting computerized databases to track information more efficiently. Obviously, technology has flaws as well, but the probability is much more slim, and the product produced by machines have generally been more consistent, uniform, and accurate.  The scanner will track the time the shipment leaves, what is included in the shipment, and the estimated arrival time. The scanner will also confirm the shipments and immediately get the shipments out to customers upon arrival. Additionally, the use of barcodes is an outstanding option because it allows the company to be update in terms of technological advancements in the world we live in. Switching to a more up-to-date system will boost company’s overall productivity and efficiency. Staying current is very important being that, Riordan Manufacturing is a global competitor in the plastic industry. In addition to being current, strategic planning and changes with this new addition will allow Riordan Manufacturing to out-market their competition. This is very important, because we all know that the business world is a “last man standing” type of system. Ultimately, if Riordan Manufacturing is able to be very efficient with production and deliveries the company will gain more clients, which means more money!
