- [22:00] Ramsey placed his hands in his pockets with a brief exhale before walking out of Achyon gates. "Good to see you back, Kay. Have a decent time smelting the iron down?" He'd bring a hand up in a gentle wave to Nevermind.
- "Excellent haircut today, friend." He'd reach down to an even larger pack than the one he gave her prior.
- ".. Because here's more."
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [22:02] Katrin looks back forward after pawning off all the herbs she'd gathered.
- "Right back at ya. I did, as it happens. Smelted down so much steel, I need to start thinking about ventilation in my little shop. I'm gonna get black lung at this rate," she says with cheer, followed by a nervous chuckle.
- "...I really should take care of that. ANYWAY! That's good news. I can head back to my place and set to work, unless you wanted to talk shop while I'm here."
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [22:07] ".. Did you bridge the gap we were talking about already?" He'd blink a few times, tilting his head to the side with a hand coming up to palm his cheek. ".. You still need the iron, right?" He'd nudge the giant bag.
- Clearing his throat promptly after,
- "What did you have in mind- Regarding talking shop, that is."
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [22:11] Katrin actually bothers to think for a moment, much more carefully than she thought about the pricing for her herbs. This was business, after all.
- "Yeah, I do, definitely. I think...About a hundred fifty three measures more, and all the time to process it, and I'll be set. Of course, I have other materials, but the steel is just a treat to learn with. Almost doesn't make sense to use anything else for studying up."
- She rolls up to her feet from the bench to take stock of the sack's contents.
- "You can go ahead and put in an order for what you want, for example. Since sooner rather than later I can make something, I'm sure. I figure if you're wanting something nice as mythril, you're not wanting something cookie cutter.
- Mythril and cookie cutter won't cut it," she states firmly, shaking her head.
- "Something with detail. Something personal, probably. Flair!"
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [22:17] Ramsey grinned lightly and laughed out loud. "One hundred and fifty three. Make that sixty one measures, actually." He'd hand the bag of iron over to Katrin with a wide grin upon his features. He'd reach for his rifle and place the but of it upon the ground, the barrel pointing up as he laughed.
- ".. The only thing I'm really missing are a set of enchantments for my entire person plus the armor and amulet to go with it. I'm a man of style - We could talk out all the details now, if that's what you want to talk about."
- He'd stretch lightly,
- "Or I could go run and finish the last bit of iron you need without breaking a sweat. It's up to you." A finger is pointed in her direction.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [22:17] {Item} You picked up Iron x92. Dropped by Ramsey.
- [22:19] Katrin hefts it, staggering at first before taking the sack over her shoulder. Artificing has given her a bit of muscle, after all. She'd been in some serious trouble if it hadn't. The infectious grin is returned.
- "Tell you what. You go finish, I'll wrap this up, and we can meet back here again if you want to talk details. How's that work?
- I don't get how you got so much energy. You must have some Crimson Reed stashed away somewhere."
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [22:19] * You have been awarded 5 Roleplay Points! *
- [22:20] Ramsey says, "Levitation potions, Crimson Reed and pumpkin pie tie me over."
- [22:20] Ramsey says, "The pie is the best part."
- [22:20] Ramsey says, ".. Regardless. I'll be back before you know it."
- [22:20] Katrin exclaims, "I'll see you back here in two shakes then. Good luck!"
- [22:25] Katrin has placed Steel (x32) into the chest.
- [22:28] {Item} You picked up Leek..
- [22:28] {Item} You picked up Sugarcap Mushroom..
- [22:29] {Item} You picked up Poppylus..
- [22:29] {Item} You picked up Poppylus..
- [22:45] Valerian Ivanovich says, "Busy."
- [22:59] Katrin says, "Well, hey. You beat me back."
- [22:59] Katrin says, "I go for a stroll and here you are."
- [23:01] Ramsey brought his arms up to a shrug, giving a grin towards the artificer he'd recently injected with steroids in the form of iron. The bag of iron is sitting at the bench, the Achyonite nodding his head.
- "That I did. I'd just finished recently." He'd give an exhale and look back to the girl, ".. Lungs faring well?"
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:05] "Pretty alright," she says, approaching the bench with the latest iron shipment. Katrin takes a deep breath and gestures up skyward.
- "Nothing that a nice little starlit walk couldn't fix. Nothing like that and some fresh air to put a bounce back in my step. I'll get a shop above ground one of these days. Go figure, there's not a lot of cheap real estate around."
- The sewer was absolutely inglorious, but temporary. Hopefully.
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:14] Ramsey nodded his head, "A mansion in Achyon just recently went up for sale. There were no less than seven blood-thirty people chatting about it in the square. I settled for a smaller, one-room place my employer was able to get me." He'd bring a hand to his palm and grin back at her.
- "... I needed a place to store my wealth." He'd pause momentarily before lifting up a finger, "Speaking of wealth, Kay - Walk with me. Have you had a chance to go boar hunting for coin yet?"
- All the while, the remaining iron was passed her way to pave the path to master artificery.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:15] {Item} You picked up Iron x61. Dropped by Ramsey.
- [23:17] "Yeah, seen plenty of the big places. Bet that was the talk of the town and really brought the buzzards around, huh?" she says, taking up the last of the iron. Her future, the last paving stone to the pinnacle, rests over her shoulder. Not that she'll let that be the end. Oh no. The true masters never let silly things like peaks and pinnacles stop them from becoming great.
- "All that wealth, huh? You said your dad works in metal. What is it you do exactly? With a getup like that, I didn't figure it would've been mining.
- I've already done my share of it for that guy down south, but I can tag along. More hands make lighter work."
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:23] "Barkeeper for the café right there inside city limits." A pointed finger points in the general direction of Francesca's point. "Mining is a hobby. The ores go to plants and facilities my father owns - The profit hits my pocket directly."
- That probably explained the get up a little better.
- "The barkeeping is nice - I use it to mingle and talk with the many people of Achyon. The mining makes all my money." He'd yawn slightly and begin to walk south as she said she'd tag along.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:25] "Now that explains the get up for sure," she nods. "No one dresses like that to go mining."
- No one in their right mind that she knew, that is.
- "Barkeeping though, doesn't sound so bad. Mingling, rubbing elbows, all that, but is that what you wanna be doing for the rest of your life? Really?" An innocent enough inquiry as she follows along with a spritely step.
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:29] "No. I want to be building an empire. What that empire builds- What it relies on- I haven't made up my mind." He'd nod his head. "My father is a Baron of Metal. Now isn't that a beautiful title..
- "Mining for the rest of my life sounds much more appealing than barkeeping." He'd take in a long breath, "And you? Artificing? Is that your end all?"
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:32] The Drakan taps her chin thoughtfully. "That is one fancy title, isn't it? That mean you get it after him? I'll be real with you, I don't know how Baron stuff works," she admits, eyes upward.
- "You talk about it like artificing is small potatoes. Think of all the things it can do! The stuff of legends and stories that live on way, way after we're gone."
- She flops back onto the bench, folding her arms behind her head. And still, her eyes remain on the skies, her head in the clouds.
- "And all the stuff to do whatever I want is right here. All I have to do is go out and get it."
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:38] "It's a title I wanted for a long time. Don't know if it'd suit me so soon after I left home." He'd bring his arms to his chest and cross them as he sat down upon the bench. Though her comment about him brushing off artificing leaves him without an expression of normalcy.
- His eyes go momentarily wide before he corrects her, "Err- My bad. I didn't mean it like that. Artificing has literally built a nation in Barsburg. It's hand-crafted cities like Osrona from the ground up. It is anything but small potatoes."
- .. He feels dumb using her lingo, but goes with it anyway.
- ".. But my answer is basically- I don't know what I want to do. I've got ideas- But nothing I've sold my soul on."
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:46] "Why not? You're all noble and stuff. You get metal. It sounds like it makes sense to me," she quips, gesturing a hand lazily through the air. The Drakan takes his correction in stride and snickers.
- It doubles when he uses her own turn of phrase.
- "Exactly. Plenty it can do, but that's just the start of it. I want to do something even bigger than that. Bigger than a city."
- On some level she knows how absurd it sounds, but doesn't scarcely address it. No gainsaying will dampen her mood.
- "Selling your soul on, huh? I'm sure you'll figure something out. I always hear the best things just kind of come to you. Not always the stuff you look for."
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:52] Ramsey raises a singular brow when she talks about some kind of contraption much larger than a city. He'd bring a hand to his chin and think upon it. "I'm not one to rain on a parade. I wish you luck, and if you reach the stars on your way their - Bring me with you."
- A grin is painted on his expression.
- ".. Ahem! I've always had dreams of building some grand skyscraper. What would it be used for? No clue, but a tower soaring into the sky would be.. Beautiful." The Achyonite is seeing stars for a time, shaking it from his head seconds after.
- "Where'd you hear that from? I was always taught if you don't fight for what you want tooth and nail and blood and all - You'll never get it."
- Two different upbringings, it seemed.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [23:57] "Tell you what. I reach the stars? I'll drop you somewhere off to build your tower. Deal?" she offers with a toothy grin. "Or who knows, maybe some day I'll bring the stars down here. Think about that!"
- And think about it she does. Not the logistics of it, of course, but the grandeur of the idea.
- "I mean, you gotta work for it, duh," Katrin clarifies, sitting up and finally tearing her eyes away from the sky as she slouches forward. "It's kind of like a Fireblooded thing though. Finding what drives you, what puts a fire in you, is different from going out and getting it. Otherwise you're going out and getting any old thing. Make sense?"
- (Katrin)
- [00:03] "Hahaha. Now that'll be a sight to behold," he'd close his eyes in thought for a time. "Of course - You won't be alone in pursuing that. You'll have whatever I can lend. Funds, ore, or - Whatever, really."
- Meeting someone with this much ambition wasn't on his goals for today - It really wasn't. But he was oddly glad he did. "I suppose that line of logic makes sense." A small exhale follows. "A fire inside you. I imagine that's the same as the cogs at work for Achyon."
- He gives no further explanation, a hand coming to tap at his chin.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [00:07] "Thanks. I'm sure bringing the stars down from the sky won't be cheap," she snorts in laughter, as if making light of her own idea. As if she weren't already thinking about how to find out to do that very thing on some level. Some truly grand, dangerous thinking.
- "How's that? Like, I guess their fire would be serving Achyon, right?"
- He hadn't planned to run into a grubby day dreaming artificer, and she hadn't planned to run into a dapper, noble benefactor and potential friend. Life was funny that way.
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [00:14] Ramsey couldn't expand his mind to the point where bringing the stars down to them was an accomplishable fact. It'd require so much logistical thinking that it made his brain hurt just trying to imagine the math that'd have to go into it.
- ".. I think so, yeah." He'd nod to Katrin in lieu of her question. "Right, then. Speaking of - That's all the iron you required, right? The world is your oyster now, so to speak?"
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [00:17] Math shmath. Clearly what the Drakan must do is make a really, really long chain to pull them down. Obviously this will work. She'll workshop it though, naturally. That must be a thing all great artificers do.
- Katrin hops right up to her feet, picking the sack back up over her shoulder.
- "Yep! This'll set me right. I figure I'll head out and process this now. We can meet up tomorrow and discuss plans if you got the time, Baron."
- As a means of farewell she holds out a clenched fist and waits for a bump. If he's not so noble that he doesn't know what the gesture means.
- "Thanks again for all the ore. I owe ya one."
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [00:21] He'd lift up from the bench and hold out that fist when she reached for the dap. Of course he knew the gesture - However, going through with it? He did feel a little dorky.
- Their knuckles meet and Ramsey nods his head. "Tomorrow it is, then. Don't feel afraid about coming into city limits. There's three places I can be - At the café, at the mines, or at home." A slow exhale follows.
- "You do owe me one - But we'll consider it the bridge to a nice friendship. And maybe some ''''free'''' metalworking on the side."
- Ramsey coughs nervously, grinning after.
- (Ramsey)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [00:26] Katrin taps knuckles with Ramsey and, immediately, makes it even dorkier by miming and explosion and waggling her fingers.
- "You got it. Tomorrow I'll be around. And I don't mind coming in Achyon, just have to mind the rats is all," she says with a flinch. Those damn rats. Had he not just donated a gods-damned mountains worth of iron she'd have taken his suggestion of free craftsmanship poorly. It's taken in stride with a smirk.
- "I'll bring what I got stashed up for the work tomorrow. Can't say it's much, but call it a step towards balancing the book, or a gesture of good will. Take your pick."
- And with that she stretches, folds her arms behind her head again, and begins her stroll east.
- "Take care of yourself, Ramsey."
- (Katrin)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [00:27] Ramsey says, "You as well, Kay."
