  1. By all accounts, it was an impossible feat of strength. Lying on my back, with no leverage to speak of, I’d hefted a three-hundred pound man and tossed him into the air as if he were a cardboard cut-out. Through the supposedly sound-proof glass encircling the Pit, I heard gasps. By the time Dimitriev fell back to earth I’d sprung to my feet. My legs were pistons. My arms hydraulics. My blood molten steel.
