- I've had lots of time to self reflect recently. It's always good practice to look at yourself objectively and learn from previous behaviors. I've realized the negativity I harbored towards the speedrun community was a practice in self loathing, and in disappointment of my own failure to reach goals. This could possibly be a generalization for many speedrunners but it is much easier to take yourself outside of the present and look externally to explain your lack of success. You can see the kind of mentality I had when BadBrakes will undoubtedly tweet the "Real Talk" pastebin below in the comments.
- I do want to say I have goals moving forward in speedrunning, but I'll keep them between myself and close friends. My current train of thought is that showing results first then explaining the process of reaching that result is much healthier and motivating. One thing, for certain, is that I won't be returning to Brave Fencer Musashi. As enticing as a Sub 2 hour run is to attempt, that game produced a lot of negativity for me and I'm very happy watching my friend zacharylawrence (please go follow on twitch) dismantle the game with a positive outlook and more refined skill set than myself.
- I will be streaming on my channel again after DeuceCon but with no mic or cam. My streams will be from my room at work, so it isn't even an option for me to use them. Sometimes I'll do offline runs and post them to my youtube, and will try to restream if I can. All the runs I'll be doing are strictly for the purpose of improving times and reaching goals I've set. I'm hoping to provide some comfy background for people if they enjoy the games I'll be playing. Anyway, here's the runs I'll be doing:
- - Kirby's Dreamland 2, Best Ending
- I'm already doing runs of this on my alt, but will keep it low key until I do one at DeuceCon
- - Mega Man 10
- The true grind. Very excited to return to this and reach goals I've put off for years
- - Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2
- This will be for fun. The community needs more runs and I'd like to improve the current top time
- - Buster (2006)
- We mash together, we dash together. Returning after a 6 year hiatus and will hopefully do races with my guy BJW
- I'm already doing two of these runs and DMFBMX2 will be strictly a for fun project because I love the series. The game I'll be focusing on primarily is Mega Man 10.
- My work schedule is changing in two months, so the probability of me attending some events next year has gone up substantially. I'm 100% attending either ESA winter or Summer (would prefer summer but depends on my vacation availability.) AGDQ is also in the cards, but I'll know in the next few months. Thanks for taking the time to read.
- Stay Cool,
- Deuce
