- Hey everyone,
- Recently, there was a new glitch discovered in Kirby's Adventure, and several people have tested out applications of this glitch, some of which are applicable to real-time speedruns. We'd like to ask runners, recent and not-so-recent, for their opinions on whether or not this glitch should be allowed.
- To trigger what I'll call the "collision pause glitch" (name pending), one needs to pause the game on the frame an enemy or object appears from the edges of the screen. This causes the enemy or object to move normally, even though everything else has stopped. If Kirby takes damage from the enemy or object, then the player will have control over Kirby while the game is still paused. This has a few effects:
- - On the pause screen, wall tiles are very different from the original stage layout (see https://i.imgur.com/fqB1syu.png for a technical explanation), allowing the player to freely float into tiles that are normally considered out of bounds. - - One can interrupt the warp star cutscene by exiting out of the stage, triggering a "wrong warp" where the warp star cutscene takes them to a different room. (https://twitter.com/_pymg/status/1547656147426951169)
- In Any% No Stone Glitch (and similar categories), we have decided to allow this glitch. As the name suggests, the spirit of the category is not "the UFO category" but rather the "no credits warp category", and it seems like the collision pause glitch works well in conjunction with the permanent UFO glitch. Instead, we're asking for your thoughts on whether or not this is a *major* glitch, i.e., whether it should be allowed in the Any% and 100% No Major Glitches category. Please let us know your thoughts via the following form: https://strawpoll.com/polls/GPgV3xv3AZa
- Best regards,
- the Kirby's Adventure moderation team
