  9. 3 reasons to avoid the Best Roblox Browser Extensions
  10. Google Chrome browser extensions like AdBlock also exist for the Roblox web client, with the goal of making the online experience that much better. While some extensions do improve the Roblox client, we don't think the risk to your PC is worth it.
  11. 3 Reasons to Avoid the Best Roblox Browser Extensions
  12. Roblox browser extensions are programs available on the Chrome Web Store that can be installed into Google Chrome. The two most popular Roblox extensions we've seen floating around are BTRoblox and Roblox+. Both extensions add customization features such as modifying the look of the Roblox website and immediate notifications when a new item enters the Avatar Shop, amongst many other features.
  13. While some extensions are created to make the game better, we don't feel the risk is greater than the reward. Nor have we at PGG tested any extensions. Here are three reasons why we think most Roblox players should avoid downloading them.
  14. 1. Potential Viruses
  15. While additional features from Roblox extensions are cool and even helpful, these browser extensions are made by third-party developers, many of which aren't affiliated with the Roblox company. As a result, downloading these browser extensions come with the risks of downloading a virus.
  16. Roblox scams are a real thing. While some Roblox browser extensions are safe, extensions aren't vetted properly. Meaning, downloading random extensions pose the risk of downloading a virus to your PC. The last thing we'd want to see is a Roblox player lose their hardware, their Roblox account, or even their hard-earned Robux due to an unnecessary virus.
  17. 2. Roblox Extensions don't make you a better player
  18. Will these Roblox browser extensions make you a better player? No, and they don't have any effect on your actual gameplay. Meaning, extensions have zero effect on Roblox games. Instead, these extensions only enhance the Roblox web client to make for a slightly better experience, adding features that might otherwise feel missing from the Roblox client.
  19. Note: Roblox extensions will absolutely not give players free Robux. Avoid these extensions at all costs!
  20. 3. The Roblox Client is already pretty great as it stands
  21. Overall, we like the Roblox client. Customizing our avatar? Check. Browsing the Avatar Shop? Check. Discovering fun new games? Check, again.
  22. Most Roblox players already benefit from the built-in features included by the Roblox company. Many won't need the missing features that are created by third-party Roblox browser extensions. And chances are, the Roblox company is already testing these features for future release anyway. As regular players, we feel the Roblox client gets the job done.
  23. Do you feel like Roblox is missing key features on its platform? Let us know in the comments what features you would the Roblox company to release in the future!

  31. A Roblox Chrome extension downloaded by over 200,000 users contains a backdoor
  32. Users should uninstall the Chrome extension "SearchBlox" immediately
  33. TechSpot is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary. TechSpot means tech analysis and advice you can trust.
  34. PSA: If you have the popular extension SearchBlox installed on Google Chrome, you should immediately uninstall it, clear your cookies, and change your passwords for Roblox and Rolimons. The extension contained a backdoor designed to steal user credentials. Other websites you may have logged into with the extension installed may also be at risk.
  35. As one of the most popular games with children, Roblox is an obvious target for malicious actors. A popular Chrome extension related to the game tried to steal users' login details and tradeable assets.
  36. Bleeping Computer found that the two instances of the extension "SearchBlox" on the Chrome web store contained malware. The code stole account credentials and items from the Roblox trading platform Rolimons. Currently, antivirus software doesn't flag the extension or related URLs, making it hard to detect.
  37. SearchBlox advertised itself as a tool letting users search for specific Roblox players. Someone added the code after hundreds of thousands of users had downloaded it. However, whether the backdoor came from the original developer or someone else who compromised the extension is unclear.
  38. Popular plug-in SearchBlox has been COMPROMISED / BACKDOORED - if you have it, your account may be at risk. Please change your passwords IF YOU HAVE IT - and credentials, so that way your account is secure again. pic.twitter.com/DVQpiZ9Pr0 — RTC (@Roblox_RTC) November 23, 2022
  39. Some Roblox players suspect a user named "Unstoppablelucent," who may or may not have developed SearchBlox. Screenshots show the value of their Roblox inventory exploding in less than a day, along with that of a connected account called "ccfont." The accusations were enough to get both accounts banned.
  40. Google has already removed SearchBlox from the Chrome Store, but users who installed it should check if it's still on their systems. Google previously took down another extension by the same name sometime between June and October of this year, so whoever was behind it has tried the tactic before and may attempt it again.
  41. Browser extensions are a frequent vector for malware, whether from the original developers or outside actors who compromise extensions. In October, researchers discovered a massive operation using 30 Chrome and Edge extensions downloaded by millions of users to hijack browsing histories, insert advertisements, and load malicious code.
  42. Furthermore, Roblox is one of the games most targeted by cyber threats, trailing only behind FIFA and Minecraft. The most common malware vector for these games are clients that purport to download the titles but include the malicious code. Users should only download games from trustworthy sources. TechSpot offers a safe Roblox download.
