  1. Gen 2 Routing Challenge FAQ
  2.
  3. A long time goal of mine for gen 2 is to route the maximum of Pokémon, either Glitchless or by changing the starters. Ultimately i'd organise a huge race where every single racer takes a different starter depending on his/her level : newcomers would take Ubers, etc up to big speedrunners which would take slow/more difficult starters.
  4. Here's how the routing is organised :
  5. 1) Group non-evolved Pokémon by 3 following the "circle of types" where each has an advantage (either offensive or defensive) against the following one. For example :
  6. > Mareep (Electrik) > Poliwag (Water) > Diglett (Ground) > Mareep
  7. 2) Each group must be balanced (don't put starters like Togepi, Hitmonchan & Dragonite altogether)
  8. 3) Due to the impossibility of each group following the super-effective pattern, some groups will feature 'defensive advantage' patterns or neutral pattern. For example :
  9. > Mr Mime > Espeon > Kadabra (each is Psychic type and each has a defensive advantage against the other)
  10. > Blissey > Tauros > Kangaskhan (each is neutral towards each other)
  11. 4) Rival must keep its starter and should take the one that gives him an advantage against you (just like in the main games)

  13. The list of all 3-groups is available here : http://pastebin.com/9R0CJDh1
  14. I'll also keep the links updated when starters have a route & at least one test run has been done with it.
