[Verdant] Religion

The role of religion on VERDANT is of incredible importance, as THE GRAND HIGHBLOOD officially owned the planet and is inhabitants. Though the MIRTHFUL MESSIANIC religion is firmly in place, over centuries of isolation, it has developed its own strange doctrines separate from the main CLOWN CULT.

The MIRTHFUL MESSIANIC religion is not the only on the VERDANT-- there are numerous other PURPLE CULTS handling different topics. The MIRTHFUL MESSIANIC cult believes that the TK VIRUS was a PLAGUE SENT BY THE ANGELS to rid the UNIVERSE of the wickedness of TROLLKIND, and that the PEOPLE OF VERDANT were HAND-CHOSEN to be the progenitors of the future of TROLLKIND.

Religion is used as a community event-- people often attend religious functions in hopes of finding a quadrant, as not being entangled quadrantally with another troll can be a DEATH SENTENCE. Religion can also be used as a shroud to protect those who CANNOT find a quadrant. Many RUSTBLOOD TROLLS, unable to find a suitable partner or unwilling to be in a relationship, take VOWS OF CHASTITY and become TEMPLE MAIDENS at the numerous PURPLEBLOOD CHURCHES on the VERDANT. Indeed, the CHURCH is often used as an escape from the EXPECTATIONS OF PROCREATION AND ROMANCE.

Religion touches almost every Verdant troll's life. Mysticism in general is rather popular. Nearly all trolls have particular lowbloods that they see for tarot card readings and astrology chart creation. Though plenty say 'the horoscope means nothing', most Verdant trolls religiously read it. Most Verdant trolls attend some sort of CHURCH weekly, though plenty of CHURCHES are not focused on WORSHIP AND PREACHING, and instead serve as community halls for trolls to share food and stories.

THOSE WITHOUT FAITH are not viewed negatively. Religion, and varieties of Religious or Spiritual Faiths simply happen to be a STAPLE OF SOCIETY. It is acceptable to be FAITHLESS, just as it is to HAVE THE FAITH, and there are a variety of beliefs cohabiting on the planet.
