  3. Sacrifice of the Vaal
  4. Prerequisites: Thaumaturge level 1st
  5. Benefit: You unlock the vaal ability of many skill gems. A number of times per day equal to half your thaumaturge level (minimum 1), you may deal damage to yourself to activate an implanted gem's vaal ability. The damage is the same as if you had hastily removed the gem. After using a vaal ability, you must wait 5 rounds before activating another.

  7. Forsaken Master
  8. Prerequisites: Thaumaturge level 12th
  9. Benefit: You may allow others to benefit from your thaumaturgical gems. You may implant skill and support gems into another creature and they may use them as normal, with some restrictions. Their caster level and base attack bonus (for scaling effects) is treated as one-half of yours or their total hit dice, whichever is lower, and you may only implant gems two tiers below your maximum into other creatures. You may implant up to one group of gems into a given creature, and gems implanted in other creatures count towards your maximum number of gems.
  10. Normal: A thaumaturge's gems function only for himself.

  12. Jeweller's Touch
  13. Prerequisites: Thaumaturge level 3rd
  14. Benefit: You add one to the maximum number of gems you may use at once. This does not affect the maximum number of gems you may place in a given group. If you fill all of your allotted groups but still have remaining gems, they may be used without being put into a group, effectively putting them in a group with a size of one.
  15. Special: This may be taken multiple times, once for every three thaumaturge levels you possess.

  17. Abyssal Jewelcrafter
  18. Prerequisites: Thaumaturge level 4th
  19. Benefit: You may craft special abyssal jewels. These jewels can be forged in a number of ways to augment your abilities. Unlike regular thaumaturge gems, these grant the thaumaturge a constant bonus while embedded and require no activation, though they do still take up one of your gem slots. One abyssal jewel can be socketed at a time, and it does not support nor can it be supported by normal thaumaturgical gems. Abyssal jewels are equivalent to tier 2 thaumaturge gems in terms of creating and interacting with them.

  21. The varieties are as follows.
  22. Competence bonus on a single skill equal to half your caster level.
  23. Competence bonus on melee attack rolls equal to 1 plus 1 per 20 caster levels.
  24. Competence bonus on melee weapon damage rolls equal to 2 plus 1 per 10 caster levels
  25. Competence bonus on ranged attack rolls equal to 1 plus 1 per 20 caster levels.
  26. Competence bonus on ranged weapon damage rolls equal to 2 plus 1 per 10 caster levels
  27. Competence bonus on a single saving throw equal to 1 plus 1 per 5 caster levels.
  28. +1 Competence bonus to caster level.

  30. Special: This may be taken multiple times, once for every four thaumaturge levels you possess. Each time it is taken it allows the use of one additional abyssal jewel at a time.
  31. Normal: Thaumaturges can only socket normal thaumaturgical gems into their flesh.
