- The sloppy work I’ve put into my NESRGB mod seems to have finally caught up with me. I’ve recently been trying to add a component video addon to it, but as a result my NES no longer outputs a usable video signal. The blue component of the video signal isn’t reaching my TV or capture card, and after checking every single solder joint, wire and jumper, nothing has restored it. At this point, there’s nothing more I can do to fix my NES, so I’m officially calling it dead.
- Since I have no NES, I have no way of continuing my pursuit of 1:10 in SMB3 at the moment. It sucks, but it’s not the end of the world. There’s still tons of room for improvement in Yoshi’s Island, not to mention the potential to learn 100%. There’s still Pokemon Blue Catch ‘Em All to start running. There’s still a somewhat long list of other games I’ve been daydreaming about running. There’s this other, long-term speedrunning project that I’ve been working on in the background for several months and will continue to pursue.
- SMB3 will be on the back burner until I get around to acquiring and modding another NES, which will happen eventually. I’m gonna miss it, but after running that game for more-or-less 2.5 years straight, I’m absolutely ready to focus on something else for a while.
