- A Brief Timeline of Notable Historical Events:
- - 65 Million BC.: The Entity known as Chakravartin impacts with the planet. This, coupled with other environmental factors, results in the KT Extinctions that wipe out (most of) the dinosaurs, amongst other life on the planet. According to legend, the guilt-wracked Chakravartin uses it's dying breath to impart life back into the world - however, the energy used irreversibly alters the gene pool, disrupting the natural development of the world. Humans still evolve, but now gifted with amazing powers, whilst animals, plants, minerals and more develop in bizzare ways separate from our world.
- - The Iron Age quickly fades and is replaced by the Chakram Revolution. The discovery of the elements Chakram and Divinium accelerate human technological development beyond appreciable scale.
- - Ancient Egypt, ironically, lasts far longer than the Roman or Grecian empires, ruled by Cleopatra - the first recorded S-Class Uber. Eventually, it collapses in the First Great Uber War. The first legends of the Destined Hero appear here, along with Morpheus the Dark God.
- - The Mayan Kingdom discovers space travel, and encounter the planet Nibiru and it's dangerous inhabitants. Their warnings of future apocalypse are unheeded, and the Mayans are eventually conquered. The Hollow Field, realm of the demons, is discovered at this time as well.
- - The first recorded Destined Hero emerges from the Shang Dynasty, leading the Tibetan War of Independence. Since then, Tibet has remained an independent state from China.
- - Nuclear Fusion, originally discovered by the Romans, is re-discovered by Tudor Britain. For a while, Nuclear Britain forges an empire that covers most of the world, but is ended by the Second Great Uber War between America and Britain. Nuclear power is eventually supplanted by the discovery of Chakram Fission, leading to the creation of Mantra.
- - The principle of Time Travel comes from Imperial China, and is shared across the world. The First S-Class Destined Hero emerges, but is demonized by historical records as insane - his/her fate is unknown.
- - The Uber Registration Act is passed. The Magpies criminal institution is created at some point, as are the Four Heavenly Kings.
- Now, onto stuff I CAN put dates to!
- - 1914-1918: The First Time War. Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany uses time travel as a means to fuel the German war effort, but is countered by Allied efforts.
- - 1920's: The Global Time Stability Act is passed, forbidding the use of time travel for aggressive means.
- - 1939-1945: The Second Time War. Adelheid Hitler, leader of Nazi Germany and considered by many a reincarnation of Morpheus, convinces the Axis Powers to use Time Tavel as a means to correct the mistakes of the First Time War. When the Allied Forces respond in kind, the resulting snarl of timelines and alternate histories nearly destroys reality, inviting such monstrosities as the Reapers. The following is a list of events that officially occured in the main timeline:
- - Stalingrad, A.K.A The Little Uber War.
- - The North Sea Siege, featuring weaponized prehistoric marine reptiles.
- - The Battle of Krakatoa between Hitler and Churchill. This results in the destruction of Krakatoa and the deaths of hundreds.
- - Eventually, the Destined Hero of the era restores the timelines in a peaceful manner, undoing the damage and costing Germany the war. However, the effects of time travel remain as dangerous dimensional Rifts, dotted haphazardly around the globe. The full records of the Second Time War are held in the Chronos Archives.
- - 1960's-1970's.: The planet Nibiru, as predicted by the Mayans, enters Earth's orbit and launches a full-scale invasion of Earth. Only a union by the then-tense US and Soviet Union defeats them, along with the Destined Hero.
- - 1989: Samuel Baker is born.
- - 2002: A 13 year old Samuel Baker is identified as the next Destined Hero, and is codenamed Nicodemus. He spends the next 12 years of his life roaming the globe, righting wrongs and getting the shit kicked out of him.
- - 2014: Nicodemus is transported through a rift into Zoofights Earth. What happens next...?
- The Science of Ubers!
- Ubers, short for Ubermen, have nothing to do with you-know-who. They are what the human race became after Chakravartin's impact, each individual empowered by a portion of his energy that was scattered throughout the world and passed down through generations. All are gifted with superhuman stamina, resilience and strength, as well as an accelerated healing factor that allows them to recover from wounds faster. Also, each Uber has his/her own unique kinetic power that allows them to manipulate an element of the natural world. These are grouped into the following classes, as dictated by the Uber Registration Act.
- - Class S: These can literally manipulate the fabric of reality, in effect combining all the powers of every other class together. Informally dubbed "Amalgams" by the general public, the Class S is extremely rare, and legends claim one only appears every thousand years. The last known S Class was a Destined Hero, but it is implied from the legends told of that man that the power that comes from this Class is anything but beneficial to the subject's mental state.
- Famous Examples: Amalgam the Fallen Hero, Queen Cleopatra of the Egyptian Empire.
- - Class A: A Class Ubers are stated to be manipulators of "concepts". This is not, strictly speaking, true - like all Ubers, they manipulate physical molecules and chemicals. However, the reputation is fitting, as the A Class is able to control elements/forces that do not fit within the complete elemental spectrum, and are thus often considered higher concepts as a result.
- Famous Examples: Nicodemus, the current Destined Hero (Asterokinesis), Adelheid Hitler (Memetic Conciousness)
- - Class B: The B Class represents the traditional quartet of classical elements - Fire, Earth, Wind and Water. These cover the entire spectrum of elements related to these four - a B Class Geokinetic, for example, would control all kinds of earth, rock, soil and sand. Whilst more common than Class A or S Ubers, Class B's only make up a total third of the complete Uber population.
- Famous Examples: Christopher Columbus (Hydrokinetic), Moctezuma II (Aerokinesis)
- - Class C: The C Class is a more "refined" version of the B Class, in that it covers only specific kinds of one of the four elements. A C Class Geokinetic, for example, could only either control stone, sand, metals or soil, but not all four at once. Elements such as Ice, Thunder and Metals are grouped under Class C, as they are technically an offshoot of elements controlled by B Class Ubers
- Famous Examples: Vercengetorix (Soil Manipulation), President Nixon (Electricity)
- - Class D: D Class Ubers control even more specific elements than the C Class. Returning once more to the Geokinesis example, a D Class that manipulated stone could only manipulate one specific kind of stone - flint, sandstone, precious stones etc. Often, the elements used by D Class Ubers are extremely niche, such a Helium or radio waves, or formed from a combination of two other elements, such as concrete or plastics. Class D's and C's are the most populous kind of Uber.
- - Famous Examples: Winston Churchill (Sonokinesis), Paul Bunyan (Trees)
- Class E: The E Class Uber is exceptional in that he/she does not sport control over any kind of element. Thankfully, they still possess the heightened abilities and senses of other Ubers. All Ubers are born as E Class, and at some eventual point in their lives they elevate to other classes - only in rare cases does a E Class remain a E Class, due to some as-of-yet unknown and incurable genetic defect.
- - Famous Examples: Hercules, Napoleon Bonaparte.
- NOTE: The Class System is not a power scale! No Uber can truly claim to be stronger than another unless they can back those words up with training and experience. A D Class could easily best an A Class, given the correct circumstances.
- Ubers require a lot of stamina in order to use their powers, and inexperienced Ubers can tire out quickly if they repeatedly abuse their powers. In addition, an Uber can recover stamina, and sometimes heal grievous wounds, by being in the presence of their respective elements - wherever subconsciously, or by consciously drawing it into themselves. In some cases, being in the presence of that element can heighten the innate strengths of an Uber - Cortez the Spanish Conquistador was said to become stronger in the presence of the stone used by the Aztecs to build their cities.
- Transitioning from the basic E Class to any class above it can be triggered by various factors. Sometimes, the Transition occurs naturally, the Uber in question discovering their powers gradually. In other cases, however, the Transition is triggered by some kind of mental shock, positive or negative. In either of these cases, the awakening of the Uber's powers is a forced one, and as a result often physically painful.
- Cases of Ubers able to manipulate more than one element are extremely rare. These are always documented as Class A, for want of a better classification.
- Notable Fauna and Flora:
- - Glatisant (Pantheramimus brittanicus): One of the few remaining "true" dinosaurs left, the Glatisant is a quadrupedal descendant of the dromaeosaurids, covered in downy feathers that resemble a leopard's spots. Sightings of this creature may have given rise to the legend of the Arthurian Questing Beast.
- - Qilin (Pseudodraconus magnificens): A magical beast with no known fossil record. It is said to feed only on dead grass, it's horns are a legendary cure-all and their roar is said to fortel death to evil beings. Very few sightings have occurred, calling the species population into question.
- - Nagas (Titanophis family): Snake-like creatures that reach great lengths, often sporting human-like faces. Whilst many, such as the Cave Naga (Meganaja horridus) are savage beasts that often kill humans, there are one or two species that are wise, peaceful and intelligent. Nicodemus encountered and slew a Cave Naga during his travels, aided by new recruit Landslide.
- - Octopi (Octopus family) have grown amazingly intelligent, more so than their Earth Prime counterparts. One albino individual, known as "El Fantasmo Blanco" was confronted by the Destined Hero, and proved itself to be a playful, clever and spotlight-stealing animal!
- - Cutlasstooth (Caedosaurus gladiadens): Another of the remaining "true" dinosaurs. The Cutlasstooth was once native to South America, but moved north to become a ferocious top predator. Serrated teeth allow this pack-hunting reptile to bite vicious chunks out of it's prey.
- - Gustave: A huge, elderly man-killing crocodile that haunts the waterways of Burundi. In this alternate world, it is speculated that Gustave is a petsuchos (Crocodylus aegypticus deomimus), one of many crocodile-like creatures with strange powers created as weapons of war by the Egyptian Empire. The Destined Hero was one of many who attempted to hunt the beast, but was outwitted by the canny beast. He refuses to give details about the encounter, only darkly muttering "so much stomach acid" in response.
- - Red Maiden (Mortorosa insidiosa): The informal name for the Giant Coffin Rose of South America. On a similar principle to the Venus Flytrap, the Red Maiden's flower is lined with spikes, and closes when anything disturbs the trigger sensors on the inside. The plant primarily feeds on blood squeezed from a victim, hence the name.
- - Sea Dragons (Carchoradracus family): Despite the name, sea dragons are not true dragons - they share more in common with prrhistoric plesiosaurs. Sea dragons are universally venomous, but are usually placid and only attaxk in self-defence. The one that bit Sam's butt trying to get a fish from his belt may have just had a strange sense of humour.
- - Direwulves (Megalupus family): Huge canids the size of cart horses. Native to Europe, these beasts are aggressive pack-hunters that will freely kill a human if they get the chance. Direwulves were the central ingredients in the Whitestone Tragedy that saw the destruction of that town and the death of many.
- Notable Entities:
- - Marduk: Formerly human, the entity known as Marduk was mutated into a thirty-story giant when his powers awakened. A Class A Entrokinetic, Marduk wandered the world, inadvertently destroying all that he touched with his powers of entropy. Marduk was eventually slain by Nicodemus, though only after a grueling battle that put the Destined Hero in a three-day coma.
- - Nightstone Manor: The collective spirit of an entire family line haunting their ancestral home. Nightstone Manor uprooted itself in response to modern developments taking place upon ancient land that belonged to the family. It was eventually calmed by the Destined Hero and his party.
- - Godfather: The enigmatic leader of the Magpies criminal organization. Not much is known about this individual, but it is believed that he has contacts across the globe, and is a respected and feared figure. What class Godfather might be is a mystery.
- - Rapture: Even less is known about this individual. He styles himself as a rival and mortal enemy of the Destined Hero, and the two have clashed on multiple occasions. Although Rapture is marked as a Class C Crykinetic, he boasts strength and abilities far beyond normal Uber parameters - suggesting he may be drawing his power from somewhere else...
