- Corius as a whole is a vast world. A particularly shocking discovery was that Corius did not operate like a normal planet, instead vast rifts have torn it into many pieces, spreading it over several dimensions.
- So exploring further than a set distance, becomes impossible. Normal vessels simply begun looping through the same area, fooled in that they are actually making progress. Those who can somehow sense or perceive the rifts, find it to be even more terrifying as inter-dimensional space is no joking matter.
- The setting thus, takes place on Cord, a single of these portions of Corius. Cord was, as a world, ruled by the ten Ancients and their chosen apprentices, the Seeds. The Ancients gave the sapient races of Cord much wisdom, and a way to avoid large scale conflict for good.
- Cord in it's entirety has several distinct parts. The northern Cold, the central Cord, the southern Bered islands, the moving island of Akala, as well as the Meleen Archipelago to the east.
- Central Cord is considered a continent of it's own. It can be divided in six regions. Aldor, Erilya and Abora to the east, the Alpine region in the very center of Cord, and lastly Pandoria and Nox to the west.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Central Cord East
- The region of Aldor mostly takes up the eastern end of Cord, and is largely composed of plains, forests and hills. Erilya and Abora take up the rest of the east, up until the central Alps. Erilya is located directly north of Abora, and longitude wise they occupy about the same space. Erilya is slightly bigger. The three eastern regions roughly take up the same amount of space.
- Aldor is a mostly flat region, full of grassy plains, hills and not very dense forests. The land is fertile, and near cities, large patches of it are turned into plantations. The Seven Noble Cities can be found in this region. The eastern end of Aldor substitutes the plains for sandy beaches.
- Erilya on the other hand is a veritable jungle. The deeper one moves towards the center, the more difficult it gets to transverse. Also, the ground level of Erilya goes on a downward slope, moving towards the center, growing steeper the further one advances, until at the very center, devolves into a pit. The trees grow bigger and more entangled the further one makes it in as well.
- Abora on the other hand is a swampland. There is little there but dead trees, caverns, the occasional forest, the occasional swamp, murky river as well as town. The one significant structure is the Tower of Abora, surrounded by a vast, walled complex. Outside these walls, the Summoning Academy and Summoner's City are built.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Central Cord Alps
- The Alpine region is shaped like a "φ". The mountains follow a straight line from both the south and north, until they stop and form a circle. At the very center, the tallest mountain in Cord, Aoro's Rest can be clearly seen even from outside the circular mountain barrier.
- The mountains often served as homes for ancient civilizations, all extinct now. Even in this age, they are sites of pilgrimage for the few who are still following the Ancients. Villages still exist in these parts, and there are reports of mysterious gates in the mountain sides as well. Bandits are very common around here, as are military patrols of almost any nearby nation, considering the mountains are a neutral zone.
- The land between the mountain circle and Aoro's Rest is quite fertile, surprisingly, and is considered neutral as well, with very few people living there.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Central Cord West
- While the east is green, the west is sandy. The north-westernmost corner of this side o Cord is the region of Nox. Everything else falls under Pandoria, the largest (and emptiest) region of Central Cord.
- The region of Pandoria takes up most of the west, about four fifths, and is a desert through and through. Cities are built around the many oases, and around the western and southern shores as well, to support the Neo-Pandorian Empire's needs. Even then, the desert is still very inhospitable, full of monstrosities, bandits and other natural dangers.
- A lot of ruins can be found across the desert, and a number of cities are actually underground, supported by the sunken ruins structures. A railway exists, and is in constant use, but also constant attack from the dangers of the desert.
- Nox, on the other hand is somehow even worse. The ground is dead, infertile, and an odd mist covers it whole. There are strange temples, and obelisks found all through, and most practitioners of dark and forbidden arts, as well as exiles of Pandoria and many other factions, are dumped here. There is little knowledge of it as a region, due to nobody wanting to be there, and the few who make it out, not really wanting to speak.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The Cold.
- The northern portion of Cord is called the Cold. One of the earliest attempts of the Ancients at accessing other dimensions resulted in a terrible failure, that caused the northern third of Cord to become a frozen wasteland. Nevertheless, it is also full of Dream Force, more so than the rest of Cord.
- It is difficult to survive here, the further north one goes. While the land unfreezes during the warmest bits of the summer, briefly, near the south, and some large city-states exist there, further north it is impossible to live for more than a few days, without a ton of supplies.
- There have been a lot of recent expeditions to the Cold, that are uncovering more of the land. Gigantic monolithic structures, and great floating metal rings have been reported, among other smaller, yet still impressive findings.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Bered and Akala
- A tropical island, that is in essence a very thin but very long stripe of land. It's shores are exactly what you would expect, and quite a few resorts are located here. Locals have small houses and live in harmony with the beasts found in the central jungles of Bered, whereas volcanic activity has ceased centuries ago. There are still unexplored portions of the jungles of Bered, due to various, unrelated reasons.
- Akala on the other hand, is a floating island, built on the back of the dormant Tortor, the Seed of Tairis. Very little is known, of Akala other than the fact they seem to have established a monarchy, a lot of it is forested, and there seem to be just a few cities and a single mountain, rises near it's southern end.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The Meleen Archipelago
- A rather large archipelago, east of Cord. The Melenids have ruled these islands since before history begun being recorded. The climates can vary vastly, from warm, and mediterranean, to cold and harsh. Any geological formation from beaches, to plains, to mountains, hills, rifts and caverns can be found in abundance over these highly varied islands.
- The Ancients presence can be sensed here, especially in the building of the city of Rania, the Melenid capital. Thus, as a nation they seem to possess a great deal of spirituality and love for nature. This has left a lot of islands untouched and inaccessible, and thus, unexplored. Their cities, while large, are self contained and still integrate the natural world around them within their structure.
