Liability Insurance on Guns

Randomly was thinking about a solution to gun control/violence and an idea popped into my head. Required liability insurance on guns/weapons, kind of like car insurance. That way, if someone injures/kills someone with your weapon, at the very least their hospital/funeral costs can be partially paid for. It doesn't stop people from owning weapons, but it does stimulate the economy, assists gun shot victims and their families, and with corporations able to make more money off guns, they will track them far more decreasing the number of untracked weapons. This is just a thought, let me know what you think, as someone who has never owned a gun or personally been affected by gun violence, I don't have a strong opinion either way.
