Weapon Lore

The land of Nemuria is a permeated with energy, every nook and every cranny contains even the smallest bit of it suffused within. This energy originates from a primordial god, known as Ea, born before the universe itself. With might above all others, Ea ruled over the planes as a god among gods as a tyrant, before being plotted against by the lesser gods and eventually shattered into the countless fragments that permeate the world.

Everything in the world that's infused with this life gains a form of sentience, becoming what is known as a Fragment of Ea. These fragments generally have just the barest minimum of thought, limited only to adopting their essence.

This essence, consists of a concept. Everything in the world has a concept, something with no concept can't be comprehended. The most common and discernable adoption of an essence happens in weapons.

When a weapon is forged, the Fragment of Ea that resides within adopts the essence of a concept that most similarly mirrors the weapon's physical form. A stick with a pointed end adopts the essence of a spear. Even if only the blunt end is used, the strikes of the spear still contain the essence of the spear. If the pointed end is removed, it instead adopts the essence of a quarterstaff, as it is now the most similar concept that mirrors its form. The essence matches the physical shape, and the physical shape determines the essence.

Creatures of the land are often particularly resistant or vulnerable to the essence of certain concepts, and only through using a weapon containing a certain concept can one bypass or take advantage of these creatures.
