- Yo
- So, for a while now I've been thinking about submitting Crash 1 100% (NTSC-J) to AGDQ 2019. Regardless of whether or I not submit it/it gets accepted or rejected, I'll go to the event regardless, but here's some of my thoughts on it.
- Things I worry about with it:
- - My controller gets fucked before my run: Only Crash runners will understand the impact this could have on everything. It takes weeks to adjust to a new controller, so this would be a nightmare. I will always have a controller, but I wouldn't be able to zigzag well on a new controller that I'm not used to so I would fuck up, not be able to show some stuff, and have a much worse run.
- - My J PS2 or whatever gets fucked before my run: Technology breaking gives me so much anxiety. If this happened it wouldn't be anywhere near as big of a deal as the controller thing since I could borrow someone else's J console I guess. But, I've only played a 90k for crash 1 on console so the lag on someone else's 7xk would probably fuck me. (update: this won't be an issue).
- - Anxiety about the my run ruining my experience for the general event: Naturally most people get anxious before their run and I'm pretty good with stage fright, but I hope my anxiety about a run of mine coming up wouldn't ruin my enjoyment with friends.
- So yeah, those things are my biggest worries about the whole thing. As for the speedrun itself, I'm the least worried about that. I'm quite consistent at the category, and I love everything about it. A lot has changed since CaneofPacci's AGDQ 2016 run (you should check that out if you haven't, entertaining run for sure), so it would be cool to show off how much the game has change over the years, and the NTSC-J version that hasn't seen a GDQ. I'll go for Cortex Power skip since I always go for it in marathons and even if the random clip doesn't work, the wrong warp is still really cool. And, Upstream skip is too inconsistent for something like this imo.
- Regardless of whether or not I decide to submit, I'll still record a submission video and write some submission stuff at some point.
- Would be cool to hear some opinions on this stuff!
