You have spotted a vehicle driving down the street with expired license plates, the vehicle is occupied two times...
Radio in the license place number, the description of the vehicle to dispatch . Put on sirens to notified the driver that I expect them to pull over. Once the driver complies, I will perform a traffic stop and ask for valid drivers licenses as well as registration. I would tell the driver the situation on why I have pulled them over and inform them of the expired licenses plate. I would end the traffic stop by giving the driver a ticket in result of the expired license.
You have been dispatched as one of two units to a resident's home on a domestic disturbance call, you arrive before the second unit and can hear arguing inside...
Radio in to dispatch and pursue the disturbance call alone. If need be, I would separate each party involved and take a statement. If anything escalated I would detain one of the parties until an extra officer arrived on scene.
You are currently in a foot pursuit with a suspect who is wanted for misdemeanor charges. About a few minutes into the foot pursuit they suddenly brandish a firearm but they are not aiming it.
I would also pull out my firearm for personal protection. I would not fire my weapon nor attempt to hurt the suspect unless they personally aimed for me or anyone else. I would call dispatch for backup and continue to pursue the suspect. I would also attempt to influence the suspect to drop his/her weapon.

If I had evidence a crime was going to be committed I would do a probable cause search.

Duty of an law enforcement officer would be to protect the community, civilians and to make sure city is being uphold to the best of its ability.
