  1. ------------------------------------------------------An Open Letter to Smuckers-------------------------------------------------------
  2.
  3. An open letter to Smucker’s
  4. Having read the 2016 corporate responsibility report, my impression is currently that the J.M. Smucker company is "... sourcing 10 percent of coffee from certified sources, including coffee from farms that are UTZ Certified, Rainforest Alliance Certified™, and Fair Trade Certified™."
  5.
  6. In response to this statement I must ask a few questions.
  7. - Does this mean that ONLY 10% of coffee purchased across J.M Smucker brands is certified in some way?
  8. - Is that "10%" UTZ, RFA, OR Fair-Trade certified, or is it certified by all three.
  9. - Is Cafe Bustelo brand coffee itself ethically or environmentally certified in any way
  10. - Where are the beans for Cafe Bustelo brand coffee sourced from?
  11. - Are any hard guidelines and standards regarding labor standards or environmental sustainability set forth by the "Master Agreement and Operating Guidelines" given to suppliers.
  12. Thank you for your time.
