  1. November Goals:
  2.
  3. SELF CARE
  4. 1. Exercise schedule – M/W/F lifts, T/R cardio. Get at least one cardio and two lift days every week.
  5. 2. Do the routine every day, even if it’s not complete.
  6. 3. Result mini goal: Complete a tournament visualization exercise before pre-Thanksgiving FF.
  7.
  8. Didn't do a good job of 2 and 3 consistently, and 1 stopped after Thanksgiving because I got sick.
  9.
  10. TOURNAMENTS
  11. 1. Attend both RoMs, two Fella Fridays and UNChi.
  12. 2. After every event, consolidate info into or prioritize three performance issues, and include those in my practice/study. Can be as simple as executional items.
  13. 3. Result mini goal: Via $10 money match or tournament, get at least 2 Ws on PR members by pre-Thanksgiving FF.
  14. 4. Process goal: Hit B average in preparation or execution.
  15.
  16. I didn't attend as many tournaments as I wanted.
  17. I DID consolidate things into items, but I don't think I practiced them well; perhaps because I'm still not great at identifying things I find to be especially relevant.
  18. Didn't manage PR wins :(
  19. My prep and execution scores were both bad :((((
  20.
  21. SOLO PRACTICE
  22. 1. Have physical contact with the game every day. Even 10-15 minutes before bed is sufficient, so long as it’s very focused.
  23. 2. Implement new practice model (analytical + instinctual).
  24. 3. Result mini goal: Become competent at grabbing no-tech getup OR get consistent 8f ledgedashes.
  25. 4. Process goal: Self-assess regarding solo practice at the end of every week.
  26.
  27. I had physical contact with the game on most days that I could.
  28. During those days, I tended either to do one or the other of analytical vs. instinctual, but when I integrated it felt natural.
  29. I'm getting consistent at DB OOC vs. rolls, so I didn't hit my mini-goals but still made decent progress LOL
  30. I self-assessed weekly but stopped after I got sick. I felt as if the self-assessments kept me on track.
  31.
  32. VOD ANALYSIS:
  33. 1. Minimum 30 minutes of study every other day. Study videos however I want, just make sure to do it
  34. 2. Consolidate info into at least one testing item every week.
  35. 3. Process goal: before every analysis session, do a viewing of relevant games. From that viewing, determine goal of analysis, then assess usefulness of goal and discipline of analysis afterwards.
  36.
  37. I've been watching VODs consistently but not studying in a structured way. A lot of it happens in short breaks at work, so maybe I should keep an idea pad/document to take notes in to try.
  38. No info to consolidate, but it's felt more and more natural lately to try things I see in videos and to notice exact aspects.
  39. Didn't have any structured analysis to try the last thing on LOL
  40.
  41. SESSIONS:
  42. 1. Have one ladder day, one netplay session day and one offline session day.
  43. 1a. SUPER GOAL: On offline session days, actually obey my alarm(s). Self control/discipline thing.
  44. 2. Take a water break every five friendlies.
  45. 2a. SUPER GOAL: Check notebook during water breaks.
  46. 3. Pick one aspect of my condition to evaluate during every session – emotions, body tension, resilience, breathing, focus – and self-assess.
  47. 3a. SUPER GOAL: By end of month, understand *in writing* what it’s like when I’m feeling good about my play/learning (as opposed to having the “feeling” ingrained, which comes next).
  48.
  49. Ended up doing no netplay November, which genuinely helped me practice more.
  50. Did good on water breaks sometimes and used notebook non-zero number of times.
  51. Still not good at condition evaluation, but I think that's essential moving forward.
  52.
  53.
  54. OVERALL it seems like the higher discipline, more long-term rewarding habits (structured analysis, condition evaluation, notebook, split practice) are still elusive for me (which makes sense). I think for this next month, I'm going to focus on the one to two structured habits that take the most amount of effort to establish (since there's basically a huge tournament break for the next 5-6 weeks) and work on those, while keeping the baseline activity.

  56. December Goals:
  57.
  58. SELF CARE
  59. 1. Exercise schedule – M/W/F lifts, T/R cardio. Get at least one cardio and two lift days every week.
  60. 2. Do the routine every day, even if it’s not complete.
  61.
  62. TOURNAMENTS
  63. 1. Work on my tournament visualization abilities, referencing sets I've played before every session to remember feelings + sensations that I want to go through.
  64. 1a. Be sure to include visualizing + setting up the next tournament(s) as challenges, since everybody has a chance to level up and transform their gameplay in this month of no tournaments.
  65. 2. Play in 1-2 netplay events.
  66.
  67. SOLO PRACTICE
  68. 1. Physical contact with the game every day.
  69. 2. Implement split practice model.
  70. 3. Result mini-goal: consistent dthrow usmash vs. Marth, edgeguarding setups vs. spacies (i.e. things that allow me to threaten grabbing the ledge)
  71. 4. Process goal: continue to self-assess at the end of every week.
  72.
  73. VOD ANALYSIS
  74. 1. Minimum 30 minutes of study every other day. Study videos however I want, just make sure to do it
  75. 2. Consolidate info into at least one testing item every week.
  76. 3. Process goal: before every analysis session, do a viewing of relevant games. From that viewing, determine goal of analysis, then assess usefulness of goal and discipline of analysis afterwards.
  77.
  78. SESSIONS:
  79. 1. Have one netplay session day and one offline session day.
  80. 2. Take a water break every five friendlies.
  81. 3. Obey alarms for sessions.
