what a bad setting

For one reason or another, you were traveling somewhere. Whether it was by bike, train, car, bus, pokemon with the ability fly... You were traveling.
But when you thought you could see your destination on the horizon you felt the air around you sort of... vibrate. A foul smell filled your nostrils and within seconds you had blacked out.

You found yourselves regaining consciousness in the foyer of a grandiose mansion. Except said mansion looked properly rundown, with the paint peeling off the walls and parts of the floor covered in sticky, oozing, purple goo. It's probably best not to touch that.
The plants are all dead, the windows boarded up and the door won't open.
The stairs to the upper floor are rotted through, and if you'd try to walk on them you'd fall right through them into a glob of smelly, oozing goo.
So you're stuck in this strangely smelling, somewhat moldy, mansion. But at least there is a row of flickering candles, lighting up the way into the dining hall, where a gorgeous meal has been set!
It's just that said meal was likely set a couple of weeks ago (or more) and most (all) of it is pretty rotten by now. Eating it seems like a very bad idea.

Yet, somehow, this place seems vaguely familiar. You can't quite put your finger on it, but it feels as if though you've been here before...
