  1. It's STRONGLY recommended to install this over a clean installation of Tribes 2!!!
  2.
  3. This Content Pack (version 1.1) will overhaul your Tribes 2 installation with a ton of fun community content. It's intended for solo play against bots in various mods, but online patches are available as well if you wish to play multiplayer. Some examples of what this contains:
  4.
  5. -Mods such as Triumph, ClassicBots, War2014, RevMod 2, Shifter, etc. with their respective clients and maps
  6. -Many maps, and even a new map pack assembled from existing maps containing 225 maps (65 bot supported).
  7. -Very useful scripts like PilotModeIII, uberFaves, zCenteredCC, DioPackHUD, cleanDSO, rearview, uberZoom, and so on.
  8. -All the mods are preconfigured to start in 720p with 105 FOV (120 in TP driving), increased driving sensitivity, max graphics settings, and a 63 bot count slider (in most mods).
  9. -Dozens of .bat files to launch every mod easily, offline and online, that also clean junk files left by mods.
  10. -Lastly, it includes a giant voice pack, optional multiplayer patches, and HD textures.
  11.
  12. To play, just enter any of the .bat shortcuts provided in the game folder. That's it. Have fun!
  13.
  14.
  15.
  16. A few tips:
  17. -Play the BaseBots or ClassicBots mods if you want to play against much smarter bots that can even drive in some maps.
  18. -Don't play Siege with more than 32 bots, the game will crash when switching sides.
  19. -Some maps are only visible when you launch the required mod, such as Triumph's 300 bot maps or all the bot maps for BaseBots.
  20. -Most bot support is provided for the Capture the Flag gametype
  21. -Some antivirus programs detect .bat files as viruses, you can right click the .bat files and then select "Edit", if you want to see for yourself that they are indeed safe.
  22. -If you experience a spinning mouse: Enable "DINPUT MOUSE" from Settings > Controls

  28. FAQ:
  29. Q: How to install the multiplayer TribesNext patch?
  30. A: Check the folder "Extras\online patches".
  31.
  32. Q: What's with the "Extras\bat_shortcuts" folder?
  33. A: It contains shortcuts to launch the game (or mods) in online mode or launch dedicated servers.
  34.
  35. Q: What's with the "Extras\scripts" folder?
  36. A: It contains some useful and optional scripts you can install. Most scripts in there are already installed.
  37.
  38. Q: How to add more bots?
  39. A: I configured this collection (wherever it was possible) to let you add up to 63 bots from the main menu.
  40. However, if you want more than 16 bots, some mods still require you to add bots manually from the console once you're in a match.
  41. To add more bots than 16 open the console by pressing the ~ key and type this, then press enter.
  42. addbots(x);
  43. or
  44. aiconnectmultiple(x,0.99,0.99);
  45. X is the number of bots you want to add.

  103. Other notes/troubleshooting tips:
  104. -In case you install the online patch, an account's data are already included. Username XZXZ, password 123456.
  105. -The included .bat shortcuts and the script "cleanDSO.vl2" will clean out compiled .cs files (.dso files) so that next time you run Tribes 2 you will not experience problems from scripts compiled last time you run the game. This greatly prevents errors and conflicts. But these tools will only clean out .dso files with the Read Only attribute set to Off. As a consequence, .dso files from mods that don't have the source scripts (.cs) available, and only have .dso (or a combination of both) files, have been set to Read Only so they won't be deleted automatically. If you ever experience problems with mods in the future, check that their .dso scripts (that are set to Read Only) haven't been automatically deleted somehow.
  106. -Tribes 2 has audio/jitter problems on multicore processors. So, all the .bat shortcuts to launch the game/mods that I included (except the dedicated server .bats) will start the game with the argument "/affinity 1". This limits the game to the first core only and solves Tribes 2's problems on multicore processors. However, hosting a dedicated server with bots and also joining it yourself from the SAME machine (basically, running multiple Tribes2.exe instances on the same PC) will pose some problems. Messing with affinity settings on any Tribes 2 instance when hosting a dedicated server makes the bots behave weird/stupid in subtle ways. Read more about this issue in "GameData\ClassicBots\ClassicBots_Readme\Server_And_Bot_Preferences.txt." You do not have to worry about this if you are not hosting a dedicated server, or if you do host a dedicated server but join it from another PC.

  110. Changelog
  111. ----------
  112. 1.1 (13 February 2023)
  113. -When the 'Enable Bots' button is ticked, all the unsupported bot maps will now be completely hidden instead of visible but greyed out
  114. -Disabled some maps from being played with bots because they did not have proper bot support
  115. -Rearranged some maps and removed duplicates so that they don't appear multiple times in the mission list
  116. -Added brief descriptions for some mods at the end of the '_READ_THIS_' file
  117.
  118. 1.0 (10 February 2023)
  119. -First release
  120.
  121. -----------------------
  122. Brief mod descriptions:
  123. -----------------------
  124.
  125. -Play BaseBots and ClassicBots if you want the original Tribes experience. These don't have all the additional crazy stuff mods usually have that might overwhelm you. So, starting with the simpler gametypes is a good idea. Base is the original gametype, and Classic is a mod that makes Tribes 2 more fast paced (which most people prefer). Both of these gametypes (if you launch them from the shortcuts provided) have great bot support.
  126.
  127. -Triumph, Meltdown 2, and War 2014. All these mods let the bots use the newly modded weapons, which is a big plus. Triumph has the better bot support, containing about 300 bot supported map specifically for the mod. In some maps they can even drive, and they will also assist you in vehicles if you ask for it. In almost all maps (for Triumph) they deploy forward bases that they teleport to. It has a decent amount of weapons and packs, but it's not a ton of things. All in all, it's just a really fun mod and the bot support is great for playing chill bot matches in many maps. Intense weapons, deadly defense, fast furious gameplay, but easily accessible to any Tribes 2 player, this is Triumph!
  128.
  129. -Meltdown 2 is a classic, one of the most popular mods ever for Tribes, mostly because of its complexity. It has weapon firing modes, a lot of packs, mechs, modded vehicles, very customizable loadouts, deployable bases, and so on. A complex mod that you can spend a lot of time in testing various builds, especially if you love mechs. Some people have a lot of fun just building bases near the enemy territory and protecting them. The stat tracking feature of this mod is also great.
  130.
  131. -War2014 takes heavy inspiration from Meltdown 2 but drives things up to 11. It also has a lot of stuff to play with, is faster paced, and it's easier to make things go boom. Some weapons are taken from Meltdown 2, so you will find some familiarity in it. This mod is also great if you love trying out various weapons while dashing across the map avoiding hard hitting deployables. Bots also use boosters to push themselves towards you, which is great.
  132.
  133. -Shifter has a lot of weapons (over 50 types), some with alternate firing weapons, several types of mines and grenades, new packs, new vehicles (some with custom 3D models, such as the HERC), a lot of new deployables, a ton of server options for various things, and many more. Spawn Favourites, spawn in your selected loadout (usually only while Base Generators are working). 18 vehicles, 18 armor classes, over 50 weapon types, 11 Grenade types, 9 Mine types, 19 packs, 7 Vehicle modules, 25 Deployables.
  134.
  135. -RevMod2 features fun vehicles that offer more variety, booster rockets (press the beacon key), valuable deployables, specialized classes and explosive new weaponry. I also includes the modified BotPilot by Werewolf. In maps with vehicles, the bots will use Shrikes to get to the enemy base.
  136.
  137. -The Masters, NinjaMod and Renegades mods offer new classes, weapons, packs, mines, grenades, and so on. They offer plenty of intensive, fast paced action with new tactical options.
  138.
  139. -Ironsphere RPG is the sequel to the popular Tribes RPG mod. Features: Class system that affects how fast your character can learn skills, several dungeons and enemy types to fight, projectile based spell system, over 100 different items, complete smithing system to improve weapons and armors. Players can mine ores in certain areas to create weapons and armors. All game progress is saved, so after you quit you can pick up where you left off.
  140.
  141. -Version 2 is a lighter modification of Tribes 2 that is more fast paced than Base. It modifies how the game plays in all sorts of ways, but it doesn't add custom weapons, packs, armors, and so on. It's mostly a modification of existing content.
  142.
  143. -Construction is a mod that let's you... you guessed it, construct. You can build anything you want, a maze, a spaceship, a town. It's more fun in multiplayer :)
