  1. Back to Nature 98% FAQ
  2.
  3. Note: This FAQ is mainly intended for people to learn more about the run rather than to answer any specific questions. If you have any, feel free to ask in the chat.
  4.
  5. Q: How long is this run?
  6. A: 7-8 hours. The current World Record is 7:41:35 by The00berNoober.
  7.
  8. Q: What version are you playing?
  9. A: I use the HM: Boy & Girl port of Back to Nature played on a Playstation TV.
  10.
  11. Q: What are the requirements for 98%?
  12. A:
  13. -10 Power Berries [1% per Berry ]
  14. -10 Hearts with your Dog [1% per Heart ]
  15. -10 Hearts with your Horse [1% per Heart ]
  16. -10 Hearts with your Wife [1% per Heart ]
  17. -10 Hearts with your Child [1% per Heart ]
  18. -All 5 Extensions [2% per Extension]
  19. -All 64 Recipes [1% per 8 Recipes]
  20.
  21. Q: Why 98% and not 100%?
  22. A: You get 1% per 8 Recipes, and there's only 64 Recipes in the game. This is just a developer error.
  23.
  24. Q: Why do you only have 88% at the end of the run?
  25. A: Due to another developer error, the 10 Power Berries don't actually add to the percentage counter. They were intended to, so you're still required to get them in the run.
  26.
  27. Q: What glitches are used in this run?
  28. A: Only the Item Duplication glitch. By opening your inventory as you're warped home at 6:00 AM, you're able to throw the same item into the shipping bin an infinite amount of times. This gets you the ~520k gold needed for the run, as well as shipping 100 of each crop needed to unlock Special Crops for recipes. This saves roughly 5 hours over the Animal Exchange glitch route. (which is not used in this run anymore)
  29. Edit: The Animal Exchange glitch is used now, but just so you can duplicate an adult cow instead of feeding 8-10 cows for 14 days. You need adult cows to milk them for recipes, so creating a second file to dupe them (adds ~5 minutes) is faster than feeding them.
  30.
  31. Q: How does the Animal Exchange Glitch work?
  32. A: When you exchange animals, only the file you are NOT playing on gets saved. Meaning, you can send a cow from file "A" to file "B", load file "A" without saving, and both files will have the cow.
  33.
  34. Q: Is that cheating?
  35. A: No, the game is working as intended. This is probably the most-asked question for all runners, yet it's hardly considered a glitch.
  36.
  37. Q: Why are you befriending bachelorettes you don't plan on marrying?
  38. A: You need two chocolats for recipes, and the only way to get chocolate is by having a girl between 10k - 20k affection on Winter 14th. They'll come to your farm and give it to you, but only if you're not married (and they're at the right affection level). I use Elli and Popuri for this because Karen's favorite gift is wine, which is slow to buy, Maria's birthday is after Winter 14th, and Ann's birthday has a special event, meaning you can't spam her affection.
  39.
  40. Q: Who do you marry?
  41. A: Popuri. This is because you already befriend her and Elli to 10,000 affection for two chocolates and her birthday is early enough in Year 2 to spam her to 60,000 affection, which is how much you need for marriage, and she'll still have a kid in time to befriend it to 10 hearts.
  42.
  43. Q: Can you explain how spamming their affection works?
  44. A: On their birthdays, they get +2,500 for the first "Loved" gift you give them, if it's wrapped. For every wrapped loved gift after that, they get +1,500. On a normal day, the first loved gift is worth +800, and every loved gift after is worth +300.
