  1. Infravision as a buff gives the ability to see in darkened rooms when one does not have a light equipped, and gives +4 quickness. It lasts for 34 minutes, and is applicable to both self and others.
  2.
  3. Under most, if not all circumstances, players have a light source equipped at all times and are able to see in darkened rooms, rendering the affect of Infravision redundant. The quickness bonus is relatively small and, I think, seems to be more of an 'Eh, it's better than nothing' understanding when casting it periodically.
  4.
  5. Necromancers are the only class with this ability and I think it ties in almost thematically with their familiarity with death, similar to the abilities of the spectral necromancer; they are familiar with death, able to see the links and ties between this world and the next, and benefit from the knowledge and sight, leading to eyes for the invisible, cloaked, and undetectable movement, as well as a +hit bonus.
  6.
  7. Upon discussing Infravision with a number of other players of the deathdriven persuasion, a number of sight-based ideas have similarly frothed to the top. It has been suggested that Infravision be able to grant eye for invisible/cloaked/undetectable movement, possibly with or without the +hit bonus. If this were the case, a possibility of decreasing the efficiency of it when proffered to other players might be desirable, similar to spectral vision and death's touch of insight.
  8.
  9. Another idea was a percentage of faerie fire, owed to Infravision being sight-related, and faerie fire outlining targets of the user with 'fire', and increasing the chance to land offensive attacks against them.
  10.
  11. In both cases, practices in the ability above 100% would be feasible in progression of the affect, and perhaps addition of extra, such as starting out with the eyes for invisible/cloaked/undetectable and faerie fire showing up after 200%, and a +hit bonus after 300%, etc.
  12.
  13. The explanation for Infravision granting quickness is that the user becomes able to see more clearly at all times, and able to avoid attacks as a result. A more defense-oriented bonus may also fit the ability, such as difficult to hit, or anti-offensive tactics.
  14.
  15. Another idea concocted was more of a thematic approach to it in tandem with the aesthetic flavor of necromancer in general.
  16.
  17. Necromancers tend to be somewhat sore regarding the topic of sixth sense and their...lack of it. Thinking of Infravision as a 'second sight' of sort and tapping into the innate death 'vibrations' might allow the resident necromancer to detect a desired target, or whether they were being spied, etc. Visually I imagine it similar to how the Daredevil is able to 'see' his surroundings.

  19. Just some thoughts. Cheers. :)
