  1. <FireSeraphim> My apologies for bothering you people but could someone make a quick SSTSE:HD mod on my behalf. I simply need a music mod that replaces "Dunes Medium" from FE with "Boss Fight Strings" from BFE
  2. <TheDarkArchon> Also, I just got an email asking about a spriting mistake on the old Hectebus I did back in the day
  3. <FireSeraphim> My apologies for bothering you people but could someone make a quick SSTSE:HD mod on my behalf. I simply need a music mod that replaces "Dunes Medium" from FE with "Boss Fight Strings" from BFE. I really cannot make head or tails of the actual editor for said game so please. I mean I know it's somehow the cool thing to ignore me even when anymore I don't really speak all that often
  4. <Ghastly> "I mean I know it's somehow the cool thing to ignore me" Bud, it's been 10 minutes. I'm sure the only reason people haven't spoken is because they don't know the editor either. But saying things like that doesn't make people respond any faster.
  5. <Ghastly> Valerie, you're the resident Serious Sam expert, right? (If anybody in this channel would know, it's probably her)
  6. <NeuralStunner> I, for one, haven't even been here because I'm busy today.
  7. <NeuralStunner> But hey, go ahead and throw a temper tantrum like the child you are.
  8. <NeuralStunner> Again.
  9. <FireSeraphim> How is that even a temper tantrum. I pointed out the fact that zdoomer seems to like to ignore me nowadays even when I don't speak all that often and politely asked for a response
  10. <NeuralStunner> Anyone who is ignoring you is doing so because you're not worth talking to most of the time
  11. <FireSeraphim> I also pointed out that I could not make sense of the serious editor
  12. <FireSeraphim> Neural, your asshole is showing
  13. <Ghastly> It was passive-aggressive/sarcastic, and you're assuming that we know perfectly well how to do it and are just ignoring you.
  14. <NeuralStunner> You mentioned that, let's see, twice.
  15. <FireSeraphim> Well you guys are classic FPS afficinatos and I come to expect you all to know justy about everything classic FPS related
  16. <InsanityBringer> actually not all of us are, heh
  17. <FireSeraphim> So it seems rational to ask all of you
  18. <Ghastly> Heh, there are quirks about the /Doom/ engine that a lot of people here don't know. =P
  19. <NeuralStunner> Annoying people isn't the way to get help, actually
  20. <NeuralStunner> You don't seem to get this after what, at least a year of being told over and over?
  21. <InsanityBringer> remember though that most people here pick a few engines to know really well, but don't know much about others
  22. <FireSeraphim> NS, being hateful to people you don't like doesn't not generate results
  23. <FireSeraphim> *does not
  24. <NeuralStunner> Who's being hateful?
  25. <InsanityBringer> ss is sort of popular 'round these parts, but not many people here take their hand at modding it, so you may honestly be best looking into how you might have to do things yourself
  26. <InsanityBringer> or finding a community that works with ss more often
  27. <Valerie> Someone called me?
  28. <FireSeraphim> My apologies for bothering you people but could someone make a quick SSTSE:HD mod on my behalf. I simply need a music mod that replaces "Dunes Medium" from FE with "Boss Fight Strings" from BFE.Yes, I did
  29. <FireSeraphim> Damnitr
  30. <FireSeraphim> My irc client borked on me
  31. <Valerie> It should be easy
  32. <FireSeraphim> It needs to be for the HD version of TSE
  33. <Valerie> open some of the serious sam 3 .gro files with 7Zip and find the zipped music
  34. <FireSeraphim> Really? I thought it would involve using the serious editor
  35. <Valerie> then make a zip file that follows the directory structure and file name of the track you wanna replace
  36. <Valerie> and rename that zip file's extension to .gro
  37. <FireSeraphim> So a Gro. file is really an overglorifed zip? wow/
  38. <Valerie> put it in serious sam hd the second encounter/content/Serious Sam TSE i think
  39. <Valerie> \serious sam hd the second encounter\Content\SeriousSamHD_TSE is where you wanna put your new gro file
  40. <FireSeraphim> which gro. file is the music normally contained in?
  41. <Valerie> to use the mod, just run it in unrestricted mode
  42. <Valerie> I dunno, I never really looked
  43. <Ghastly> 21:55 <FireSeraphim> So a Gro. file is really an overglorifed zip? wow/ <<< Welcome to moddable first-person shooters
  44. <Valerie> should be easy to figure out yourself
  45. <Ghastly> Quake 3, Quake 4 and Doom 3 are the same way. Resources are in renamed .zip files.
  46. <Valerie> and yes, it doesn't make sense to develop a proprietary pack format when zip is available already
  47. <Ghastly> Well, it only makes sense if you're trying to specifically stamp out modding. =/
  48. <Valerie> and every computer nowadays can open zip files by default
  49. <Valerie> yeah that too
  50. <InsanityBringer> you know, now that the doom3bfg source is out has anyone made a .resources editor
  51. <Valerie> but I fugured that proprietary file formats were made in moddable games as well, back then because zip was not the popular archive format yet
  52. <Ghastly> Yeah
  53. <Valerie> oh and Neural, no need to be an ass about it, I am a big enough person to be able to handle people if they get too annoying
  54. <NeuralStunner> I'm not being an ass.
  55. <NeuralStunner> And I'd like you to not assume that.
  56. <Valerie> too late for that
  57. <FireSeraphim> So does TSE HD load data strait from FE HD?
  58. * NeuralStunner (~NeuralStu@50-102-211-82.ekht.in.frontiernet.net) has left (Okay then.)
  59. <Valerie> I think so
  60. <Valerie> actually I don't think so
  61. <Valerie> I think it uses the First Encounter DLC packs
  62. <Valerie> yeah it most likely uses the First Encounter DLC files when loading the egypt levels
  63. <FireSeraphim> For some reason despite me following the instructions to the tee it's not t\aking
  64. <FireSeraphim> and it's sorta pissing me off.
  65. <Valerie> well, there maybe one thing you are missing
  66. <Valerie> like are you running the moddable version of Serious Sam HD
  67. <FireSeraphim> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7624816/Stuff%20that%20needs%20sharing/BFEish%20Music.gro here is the gro file and yes I'm running the moddable version
  68. <Valerie> because unless you run that version of the game, the game will ignore all mod packages installed
  69. <FireSeraphim> I cannot comprehend what it is that I'm doing wrong, I swear I did everything according to protocol
  70. <Valerie> I found the issue
  71. <Valerie> the music folder should be inside the \Content\SeriousSamHD\ folder in that zip file
  72. <FireSeraphim> Now I feel like a moron
  73. <Valerie> so it should look like D:\Apps\Steam\steamapps\common\serious sam hd the second encounter\Content\SeriousSamHD_TSE\DLC_TheFirstEncounter.gro\Content\SeriousSamHD\Music\Dunes\
  74. <Valerie> oh yeah, and add a "Z_" to the beginning of the package file name, to ensure priority when loading mods
  75. <FireSeraphim> could you send a modified version over. I'm not quite getting what the gro. folder structure should look like.
  76. <FireSeraphim> it is \serious sam hd the second encounter\Content\SeriousSamHD_TSE\Content\SeriousSamHD\Music\Dunes\?
  77. <FireSeraphim> or \Content\SeriousSamHD\Music\Dunes\?
  78. <Valerie> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9832493/Z_BFEMusic_-_Dunes%26GreatPyramid.gro
  79. <FireSeraphim> thank you Val
