  7. Another day another sunshi- oh wait it's still sunny..... how the hell?!
  8. Hinawa would raise her upper body, sudden jolt of pain in her left arm.... Hinawa thought for a moment she regained feeling in that arm buuuut it didn't take her long to realize that it was just phantom pain.......... she'd notice that Faulkner is building something though as she's looking around, so yesterday was not just a dream!
  9. "Faulkner?"

  18. There the bird was, working away while everyone was asleep. While it was nice of the captain to bring back some building supplies, there certainly wasn't much to work with. It seemed like Faulkner had a bit of a wall starting to take shape now, but building a shack out of driftwood was not his strong suit. "Hm? Finally awake now?"
  19.
  20.
  21.
  22. Shuriangestern um 05:11 Uhr
  23. the mouse would yawn for a moment, she'd push herself up with her right arm to stand up and then begins holding her left arm, it definitly wouldn't be hard to get that into place, good ol bone re-location, hurts for a short moment but nothing compared to melting flesh and so she'd do that giving quite the uncomfortable sounding cracking bone sounds as she's squeeze her left shoulder and gives it as much of a twist as she could........ yep no real feeling in the arm yet, pain in the shoulder though, rubbing salt woooooo
  24. "Yeah, were my tears at least delightful?"
  25.
  26.
  27.
  28. Astragestern um 05:24 Uhr
  29. Faulker didn't pay the mouse much mind. They were awake, and they weren't grumbling in pain TOO much. He was more concerned with getting at least something workable for a shelter prepared by the end of the day. The sooner he could get some shade for Kazmina, the better. "Hmph. Crying doesn't suit you in the slightest. Always imagined I'd see that bard fellow cry before any of y'all."
  30.
  31.
  32.
  33. Shuriangestern um 05:26 Uhr
  34. she'd get quite the serious tone for a moment while she looks if she can moved her left hand properly, eh, felt super hard and weak for now, but over time, maybe?
  35. "Oh believe me if I see that guy again you'll see him cry, he got us into this whole shitty mess."
  36.
  37.
  38.
  39. Astragestern um 05:32 Uhr
  40. Hmmm... Maybe if he positioned some of the wood like this, it'll stay upright... Aaaaaand... Well, not as good as he had hoped, but it'll do for now. Faulkner never was one for carpentry. "Hm? The hell did he do to flood the entire damn world?"
  41.
  42.
  43.
  44. Shuriangestern um 05:39 Uhr
  45. she'd grab her vest, untie the knot for the left arm and puts it on while continuing the conversation and looking at the badly made wall, kinda hurt the eyes of the new carpenter apprentice she recently became
  46. "Fucked up a hostage situation and pissed off the person who actually did that, got my arm chopped off got the weird druid from the town council killed and also a head got blown off."
  47. She'd adjust the vest so it would look good
  48. "Whatever could have gone to shit went to shit in that situation, shame I actually enjoyed myself till that puss shark flooded the world."
  49.
  50.
  51.
  52. Astragestern um 05:53 Uhr
  53. Faulker was back scavenging through the small pile of rubble Kazmina had managed to drag back, unaware of the condition of Hinawa's arm. A good chunk of these materials were probably completely unusable, but now wasn't the time to be picky. If these two weren't bleeding all over the place, he'd go out and try to find some more if he could. "Hmmm... Knowin' him, I can hardly think he intended for any of this to happen. I'm sure that boy's heart was in the right place, but things rarely go how you want em to."
  54.
  55.
  56.
  57. Shuriangestern um 05:57 Uhr
  58. she'd scratch her head with her LEFT arm, gotta train that thing even in the most miliscule ways "Yeaaaaaah probably, still he owes me an explanation and I am gonna get it out of him, so he'll at least cry!" she'd say with the most stupidest smile ever, if you wouldn't know better it seems like the mouse fully recovered
  59. she'd grab the bandage she'd usually use to make a bra to make a bandage to wrap over the wound, wouldn't want it to open anytime soon and it should heal
  60. "Soooooooo, I know you probably care less about that but, where's my feather?"
  61.
  62.
  63.
  64. Astragestern um 06:04 Uhr
  65. The feather... uh... Oh, right. After the mouse had passed out and had her arm reattached, Faulker dug around for the bottle she carried it in to place it back in. Probably a little rude to go digging through Hinawa's belongings, but surely can excuse it this time. "Put it back with the rest of your s- Hey... Mind explaining how your arm's still working after it was clearly severed? I know I burnt it back onto your shoulder, but how the hell are ya moving it?"
  66.
  67.
  68.
  69. Shuriangestern um 06:08 Uhr
  70. she'd look after the glass container and, yeah there was the feather... she'd sigh in relief
  71. "Oh, yeah at the moment mostly the shoulder and the beginning of the arm is doing the work, I basically force the movement by whipping the arm around, besides that I can push it on acting somewhat fast because it was one of the first things I did and a sip of a potion of lesser restoration should at least be able to restore SOME muscle fiber, now I just wait for healing to occur more naturally considering both have still flowing blood and the bones are re-attached again."
  72. the barbarian would look at kazmina laying against the rock in the shadow of the horribly built wall........
  73. "She also ain't looking hot hm?"
  74.
  75.
  76.
  77. RaiRyogestern um 06:12 Uhr
  78. While Kazmina had not stirred from sleep yet, twitches along her fingers and facial expressions at least let everyone know at a glance she was still alive. She kept the armor and clothes on, potentially soaked now. On she slumbered, mutterings and some violent twitching in her own little nightmare outside of this one, breathing shallowly but still breathing.
  79.
  80.
  81.
  82. Astragestern um 06:21 Uhr
  83. "Between her... everything, and your missing arm... Hell, I can't tell which of you were in a better condition." Yeesh, for a brute that mouse sure had some rather impressive medical knowledge hiding away in that thick skull of hers. "If we had any medical supplies I'd try patching her up myself, but right now I don't think I can leave either of you for two seconds to go scavenging..."
  84.
  85.
  86.
  87. Shuriangestern um 06:25 Uhr
  88. "True, gotta work on your....... master..... okay I can't say it" with that she grabs her axe, bag and........... she'd leave the scarf there and puts it on kazmina's eyes, not that effective but, with that wall it should at least calm her down
  89. "Welp, there's not a lot to find but going along the beach to scavenge some stuff, maybe I'll get lucky, I mean a lot of the world went down under so there might just be some medical stuff coming along the shore! Worst case I'll just kill one of those giants and put her heart into one of those."
  90.
  91.
  92.
  93. RaiRyogestern um 06:28 Uhr
  94. The touch stirred her enough to make the gremlin jerk, otherwise not showing any state of consciousness aside from weakly placing a hand against the deeper of where her wounds were.
  95.
  96.
  97.
  98. Astragestern um 06:35 Uhr
  99. "And how do you expect to be killing giants when you're still trying to get your arm to work?" A serious question, though his tone suggested the bird slightly fooling around. After all, he Faulkner wasn't too aware of the true nature of Kaz's heart so that whole comment seemed like a a joke to him. Wouldn't hurt to try to have a little bit of positivity despite the circumstances. 'If you really thing you're well enough to go scavenging, I'll keep an eye on Kaz here. Gotta try something to get her bleeding to stop."
  100.
  101.
  102.
  103. Shuriangestern um 06:43 Uhr
  104. "Eh, only need one arm to kill one of those gigantic babies. And yeah that sounds smart, maybe I'll down a tree and actually build something proper later....... But for NOW" with the last bit the mouse would jump up a bit energetic
  105. "I will see you later!" with that the mouse would run off towards the beach of this island
  106.
  107.
  108.
  109. RaiRyogestern um 06:50 Uhr
  110. With the passing time, Kazmina took in a shaky breath. She was far too tired to take the scarf off of her eyes, though it was no complaint to have it there. Less unforgiving sunlight against her terrible sight. She listened close to her surroundings... Barely a breeze in the air. Ocean waves lapping at shores. Someone quietly breathing nearby... "Mmm... Lady Hinawa? Sir Faulkner...? Where're you two...?"
  111.

  119. Astragestern um 23:26 Uhr
  120. Sometimes Faulkner wondered what went on in that mouse's head. Couldn't tell if they were joking about going out to kill one of those supposed giant beasts all on their own, especially with their condition. Well... so long as she came back with her arms still attached at least. For now, the big ol bird had to tend to a bloodied gremlin, a job that would be much easier said than done without proper supplies. She'd probably hate him for it later, but I'm sure she'll forgive him for going through her belongings after a few drinks. "Right here, Captain. Apologies, but I gotta go through your things to see if ya got anything to treat those wounds."
  121.
  122.
  123.
  124. RaiRyogestern um 23:35 Uhr
  125. "Kit," she moaned out, sliding herself against the wall to lay on her back on the ground. "Backpack, close to the top. Wh-... Where's Lady Hinawa...?" Her eyes weakly darted about from underneath the scarf. It was very appreciative to have it covering her eyes a little, but slowly tugged it away to reveal the harsh sunlight against her eyes. Kazmina wanted to get another look at Faulkner. She was still wrapping her mind about the fact that... He was just here. "... Go retire, dammit..."
  126.

  131.
  132.
  133. Astraheute um 00:06 Uhr
  134. Kit? Well, good thing one of them was prepared for the worst. Faulkner began fiddlig with the pack to retrieve the kit, though part of him was curious to see what the captain carried around with how secretive they were. Eh... unless something were to fall out, he wasn't gonna bother with it. He needed to treat their wounds after all. "She went to go find more supplies along the beach. Seems like she's feeling fine enough to do that... somehow..."
  135.
  136. With the kit in hand... er... talon I suppose... Faulkner went to work on trying to patch up the bloody mess of a rogue. Good thing these kits were prepped in such a way that even someone with less than stellar knowledge of medicine could treat wounds. First thing's first, assess the damage and clean the wounds as best he could. "Hmph... Already tried, but look at where I am now."
  137.
  138.
  139.
  140. RaiRyoheute um 00:16 Uhr
  141. Her backpack was filled with some of the most random things someone could prepare for. Ball bearings, a crowbar, a hammer, pitons, string, lockpicks, a ruined almanac of Saltmarsh's tides, an amulet, a silver bangle-
  142.
  143. A lock of Oceanus' fur.
  144.
  145. Two of Faulkner's feathers tied together.
  146.
  147. The book of the drowned.
  148.
  149. But at least the kit was there, right?
  150.
  151. "She's stubborn 'nough to get it done." Kazmina slowly lifted up her shirt and leather armor, giving Faulkner easier access to the still dribbling wound, leaking small amounts of blood and pus from the now miscolored areas that she was bitten into the most. "What about you, hmm? Breath've fresh sea air treating you well?"
  152.
  153.
  154.
  155. Shurianheute um 00:21 Uhr
  156. while those two had their small doctor talk and stuff Hinawa would actually walk along the beach, her arm still rubbing her a bit wrong but hey at least it's rubbing at all she'd look along the coast she'd see trash, some swept up old furniture, a dead body..... a gigantic aligator.......Wait....... what is she supposed to be more surprised by at the moment?
  157. The aligator or a perfectly in-tact body?!.............
  158. Priorities first she'd get her trident out, give the 30 foot aligator a stern face and suddenly he hecked off.
  159. After that she'd expect the body, has a blade, pretty light body and with that she'd get quite the idea!
  160.
  161.
  162.
  163. Astraheute um 00:28 Uhr
  164. "Still taste the salt walter, but... Eh, could've gone for meeting under better circumstances, but better meetin' ya with us both alive than the both of us dead." Faulkner... wasn't too sure what to make of his feathers being stuffed away in her bag like that. He always took the gremlin to be the kinda person to move on the easiest out of anyone, but to think she had gone and plucked his feathers as something to remember him by...
  165.
  166. Well, can't say Faulkner ever really expected someone to bother remembering him in such a way...
  167.
  168. "...Alright, this is gonna sting a bit. Gotta make sure you're cleaned up before I go patching you back up." He muttered aloud as he cleaned off Kaz's wounds with a fresh rag. Once enough blood was out of the way, then came the fun part where the wounds were to be disinfected with alcohol! A little sting here and there was certainly better than a nasty infection, and look at that some of the damage was already bandaged up!
  169.
  170.
  171.
  172. RaiRyoheute um 00:38 Uhr
  173. She grunted with each movement, every few seconds jumping from the pain of the alcohol doing its work. No time to be complaining, or just not having the energy to do so anymore. At least at this rate, the wounds were covered and cleaned. Whether it was too late or not was another question, but for the time being Kaz was breathing still. That was a start, at least. "Y'know... Should've been me, lot've times. None've you should've died."
  174.
  175.
  176.
  177. Shurianheute um 00:43 Uhr
  178. hinawa actually gets ready to carry that body back, surprisingly light and easy to carry what she's NOT expect though is..... the fucking aligator she sent away actually came back with a huge ass fucking fish in its mouth for the mouse.......
  179. "Shit didn't think it would actually find a fish that fast......." now the mouse would have a problem, she'd need to drag along a rather huge fish and the body..... eh guess food was important, with that she's put the body on the shoulder of the weak arm and grabs the big fish on the tail with the stronger hand with an actual grip, slowly but surely making her way back to the resting spot with surprisingly an idea AND food
  180.
  181.
  182.
  183. Astraheute um 00:53 Uhr
  184. "Oh quit with that talk. You've given it your best, but ya gotta understand that... well... you really can't, y'know... save every last life you come across out there. Believe me, I know how ya feel..." Man, these wounds weren't looking too hot, even with all the work Faulkner was putting into fixing them. Quite the timing he had, going on about not being able to save every life when it seemed like Kazmina would end up one of them. "My death was by my own free will though, regardless of the state I was in at the time."
  185.
  186.
  187.
  188. RaiRyoheute um 01:00 Uhr
  189. "... I know."
  190.
  191. Kazmina tilted her head back and let a couple of tears stray down her cheek. She could not bring herself to care much more. Really, she was just too tired. "Doesn't make it better." she tacked on quickly, eyes closed once more as the gremlin slipped Hinawa's scarf back over her eyes. Her thoughts were swimming about what to do next. How to solve this situation. If there even was a solution to this. There had to be something. Anything. But she kept drawing blank after blank. "... Faulkner? What was it like...?"
  192.
  193.
  194.
  195. Astraheute um 01:25 Uhr
  196. "...Endless drowning..." Yeesh, usually people like to imagine that whatever waits beyond life is peaceful and happy, but Faulkner kinda shattered that hope right there. "When ya pulled me back to have that little chat, I figured after that would be when I could truly rest, but... After my lungs filled with sea water and I lost consciousness, and even after our talk... just... drowning... Couldn't see anything, couldn't hear anything, yet I could feel myself forever sinking..."
  197.
  198.
  199.
  200. RaiRyoheute um 01:29 Uhr
  201. Maybe it was a good thing, then, having this damned heart in her chest more than likely saved her from the same fate. There was no way for her to really know that, of course, but the thought of a torture like that was not one she wished to imagine. Maybe Faulkner really saved her from sharing such a thing with him, then. "Sometimes I think about what death'd be like. Been a few times, think 'bout jumpin' off the bow of a ship, letting the ocean have me at last..."
  202.
  203. Kazmina took one deep breath, then another. It was weird to feel so tired just speaking... "Who knows. Maybe someone one day'll break this fuckin' heart of mine, let me experience it myself. 'Til then, just... Keep tickin' away."
  204.
  205.
  206.
  207. Astraheute um 01:36 Uhr
  208. Try as he might, but at this point Faulkner had done all he could for the rogue's wounds. Whether or not she would recover from the ordeal was left to be seen. Once the leftover medical supplies were securely tucked away back in that kit, the grumpy old bird let himself slump against the wall once again. Poor guy hasn't had a rest since he fished her up.
  209.
  210. "...Just don't go makin' the same mistake I did, ya go that?"
  211.
  212.
  213.
  214. RaiRyoheute um 01:39 Uhr
  215. "... ... ..."
  216.
  217. Could she even, at this point? Kaz lifted a hand up in front of her face, staring at the back of her hand. She could not see it through the scarf, but she could definitely feel just how frail she had become through the ordeal. Too weak to do anything. To change anything. "Yeah, yeah I won't."
  218.
  219.
  220.
  221. Shurianheute um 05:06 Uhr
  222. it would take her a while but potentially the woman would get the fish and the body back to the both, causing quite the thud as she lets go of the fish 3 times larger than her while having the body still on her left shoulder, looking at the both really tired looking comrades.
  223. "Both of 'cha still hanging in there?"
  224.
  225.
  226.
  227. Astraheute um 05:09 Uhr
  228. Hmmm? What was that ruckus? ...Oh, it was just Hinawa returning... and it seems like they wouldn't need to be worrying about dinner now... or breakfast and lunch either for that matter! How she caught a fish that size seemingly so easily was beyond Faulkner, but hey anything would do at this point. "Took care of her wounds as best I could. Only time will tell if it's enough for her."
  229.
  230.
  231.
  232. RaiRyoheute um 05:11 Uhr
  233. Once more she twitched back to consciousness, moaning as she lifted her head up. "Lady... Lady Hinawa? You're still okay, that's... Yeah, that's good. Did you find anything useful?"
  234.
  235.
  236.
  237. Shurianheute um 05:16 Uhr
  238. She'd shrug for a moment "Dunno if you were there for that but got my arm back so that's bloody useful.
  239. Then there's this bigass fish I fished up with my trident and then there is this near perfectly preserved kobold body I found." she'd nod towards the body lightly with her head and comes closer to lay the body down in front of Kazmina and Faulkner
  240. "So vanillian.... vanillus?.... how was her name again? Is probably more of an expert regarding this but you think this would be suitable Kaz?"
  241.
  242.
  243.
  244. Astraheute um 05:20 Uhr
  245. Faulkner blinked a few times. What was all this about a goblin body? Who the heck was Vanillus? What did Hinawa mean by "a suitable body for Kaz?" This poor bird was so out of the loop he had forgotten about Hinawa's fancy fish trident!
  246.
  247.
  248.
  249. RaiRyoheute um 05:24 Uhr
  250. Kazmina weakly dragged the scarf off of her eyes and stared. The kobold body in front of her stirred little emotion, and for a few seconds nothing came to her mind. But after some time her eyes sparkled with the same idea that Hinawa was proposing. "Lady Hinawa. I need paper... Something to write with... I can work with that."
  251.
  252.
  253.
  254. Shurianheute um 05:28 Uhr
  255. she'd scratch her head for a moment with a sigh
  256. "Paper's quite the luxury, my entire shitlist and spellbook that I hoarded are wet, maybe if I dry it off long enough to my feather it becomes decently usable."
  257. with that she'd take the feather and her shitlist out of her bag, both things the captain has never seen, faulkner at least the feather by now

  267. "Lady Hinawa, Sir Faulkner, I..."
  268.
  269. She choked on a sob that she had been holding back, letting herself cry openly for the first time in what felt like years. With so much stress in a short amount of time, having something to look up to was a thing she still could not believe while staring it down. "It'll take time. Can you two make it without me for a little while...?"
  270.
  271.
  272.
  273. Shurianheute um 05:39 Uhr
  274. she'd look a bit surprised at the crying, gee and she thought her crying is unusual. But she wouldn't take long to respond, a dying message ain't anything new to her
  275. "Yeah sure captn, we're both capable in our own right...."
  276.
  277.
  278.
  279. Astraheute um 05:44 Uhr
  280. "Tch, with how your wounds are right now, I had already planned on babysitting ya for a while anyways . I'm sure we can manage." The bird gave a chuckle for once in his life, and he woulda playfully smacked Kaz on the back of it weren't for her numerous injuries. "Though uh... Either of us mind filling me in here? I feel like I'm missing some vital information."
  281.
  282.
  283.
  284. RaiRyoheute um 05:47 Uhr
  285. A finger tapped at her chest as she went to slowly explaining. "Remember that house, Faulkner? Rot grubs got 'n me... Thought I was dead, but that damn heart. Found who made it. Turns out I'm... I'm nothing but a hunk of metal, Faulkner. Put it into someone, and y' get me instead. So the idea is to... Is to take it out. Put it in that body.
  286.
  287. "... But I don't know how much I'll remember. So I want to write things I need to remember. Hinawa. Hinawa, how's the paper and pen..."

  292. she's working stupidly hard on drying that paper with the heat of the shining feather, not too much success but it didn't look fruitless either while she'd grab a pen out of her pockets
  293. "Ya know I think carving it into some wood or a stone might be smarter, this paper looks like it tears if you look wrong at it."
  294.
  295.
  296.
  297. Astraheute um 05:56 Uhr
  298. If that ain't the craziest thing Faulkner heard... Sheesh, woulda been nice of they had found the body before he used up supplies patching Kazmina up. Sounds like they were gonna need to cut her open all over again. "I swear, you're all just chock full of surprises, huh? Better than nothing I suppose... You uh... sure about this though?"
  299.
  300.
  301.
  302. RaiRyoheute um 06:01 Uhr
  303. Kazmina locked eyes with Faulkner, giving him an already dead look. "I'm not a damn fool, you old bastard. I ain't lasting much longer than this, so please. Please... I need this to work. I've got shit t' stitch whatever you two cut open. You don't know how hard it is to stay awake right now. So yes... Yes, I am sure..."
  304.
  305.
  306.

  308. "Well." she'd reach over the paper with that word and then continues on
  309. "Tell us what we should do, if you even know, dunno how much she has taught you about that." she'd bend her knees down and just goes lower to talk a bit more eye to eye with the captain while putting the feather back into her container AND the bag so it wouldn't burn out Kazmina's eyes

  314. "Well, if ya really are sure of it... Whatever happens, it was an honor to fight with ya for the time we did, you bloody gremlin." You can't blame him for getting out one last use of Kaz's favorite nickname, can you? Who knew this grouchy old fuck could be wholesome like this?(Bearbeitet)

  321. The gremlin because steadily reciting the information to Hinawa to the best of her ability, her voice low and cracking every few moments that she spoke. The process was... Very long, none of it sounding easy either, and not to mention the fact that many tools were used in the process too. Once she finished, Kazmina took the time to spit in Faulkner's direction. "And fuck you too. Best hope I don't remember that... That's all I know... 've got faith in you two."

  326. hinawa's head was smoking a bit... shit that was complicated, doable but complicated, HOW LONG will she sit on that?! That sounds like she'd need to work some DAYS on that
  327. "Gosh you know how to not make this fun pffffff.......... So, you want to finish your writing and then be killed or die naturally?"
  328. That last bit would have a bit of a sinister.... unwilling tone, the mouse is actually somewhat scared of it, she's competent but not necesarrily perfect, if this entire situation with the shark would have ended immediatly

  334.
  335. Kazmina spent a good while writing everything she needed. A few times she would nearly doze off, having to shake herself awake again to keep going. Scratch after scratch, word after word, this little letter was becoming quite lengthy in a short amount of time.
  336.
  337. And once she had completed it, Kaz let the pen drop to the ground. "Alright... Make sure this's the first thing I see. If I... Don't remember anything, don't hold me down... Probably'll bite..." Her arm did not really extend the letter to Hinawa. More just... Pushed it along her own lap and onto the soft ground. For once, the sun felt pleasant. Although the makeshift shade helped plenty, at least. "Don't care if you read it. But make sure you catch me up with everything, okay...?"

  342. with that, Hinawa would look at her former captain dying, no matter what memories the new Kaz would get, it's not the same person anymore, this was not the feared Pirate Kazmina Loudsteel that died with her, it was a fricking trouble magnet who led a passenger ship for a few weeks. And whoever the new Kazmina will be, will also be different.... it actually made the mouse kinda sad, she just lost the person that ended up joining the group, even if it was over some stupid accident over bullying mouses into the ocean

  350. Within seconds, Kazmina would pass out into the sleep she had asked for. Within minutes, it would become impossible to awaken her again. And before the hour had ended, the small rise and fall of her chest would cease.
  351.
  352. Seven years she had been lost. All that time spent mostly alone in search of herself and her old crew. Sheer luck brought her into Saltmarsh, on a passenger vessel with barely anything to her name. She had only been with these adventurers for a few weeks, maybe a few months. But she had made damn sure her name was left somewhere before the world flooded.
  353.
  354. Once more, Kazmina Loudsteel, the Ocean's Nightmare, had taken a final breath.
