  1. Guts Vs Vader is a strange matchup to say the least. The whole of the the debate came down to 4 things: can a lightsaber cut through an iron sword, can Vader react as fast as Guts move, can Vader withstand clashing blades with Guts, and would Guts be more likely to dodge or block an attack. Lets look at these points and see who comes out on top.
  2. To start, yes, the lightsaber can cut through the sword. This one clip shows that metal is totally defenseless against the blade https://gfycat.com/silkysoupycollie-ahsoka. I will admit however that this one (https://gfycat.com/someanimateddungenesscrab) shows that if the metal is thick enough, it puts up some resistance, but looking at the movement, it isn't because it takes time to melt, it's because the blade of the saber is physical and must be pushed through the construct. We can tell this because without any noticeable change is stance, the blade moves faster once free of the metal. With Guts pushing one direction and Vader the other, Dragonslayer is toast.
  3. Of course, that statement is based on if Vader can even block the attack. If he doesn't move fast enough, he can't really do anything. The only feats listed for each combatant were faster than the average human could see. The major problem here is that almost all feats listed were against projectiles, which as the fight stands, the combatants do not have. There is a part of the discussion that answers this question. As Feminist Horsebane says, Guts has been shown to use wide, telegraphed moves and opposed to short fast ones to fight, giving Vader enough time to block.
  4. Now that the swords are crossed, let's look at the moment of impact. Guts has been shown to make wrists sore just by hitting his sword against an opponents, however, the problem here is that Vader's arms aren't bone, they are metal. He won't feel anything.
  5. The last major point I would like to discuss before giving final judgement is whether Guts would dodge or block an attack. While a majority of the scans show Guts taking or blocking hits, the one scan is enough to show that he can adapt to the situation. In fact, that was also shown by the scan when he defeated an enemy by breaking his own blade. What this section come down to is whether he can adapt in time and figure out that he needs to dodge and not block, which, based on the fights used as evidence, he would definitely be able to. This is him adapting to the sword breaking (https://imgur.com/a/qMfnFdR?nc=1). This is him adapting to using him mouth to wield his blade while his arms are unavailable ( https://imgur.com/aOSxCfk). These two instances show a willingness to adapt to the battlefield.
  6. Taking these points into consideration, I have to give the fight to Vader. Overall, Guts is better when he has a blade to fight with and Vader's saber eliminates it the second blades clash. As a weapon, the lightsaber eliminates metal weaponry and armor for the most part, putting Guts at too much of a disadvantage to win.
