  1. [context: Just after the Eye of Dynara was stolen, Esei headed to the Library to relax.]
  2.
  3. You hear a strange flutter from deeper within the library, the faint blur of something moving by quickly just at the edge of your vision.
  4.
  5. You blink.
  6.
  7. Annex of Wyrden Scriptures.
  8. The shadowy outline of a twisted forest casts a dark gloom here. A short, narrow archway, barely an opening in the wall, leads into this cool, secluded alcove from the main library. The walls, ceiling and floor are constructed from black marble, complementing the ravenwood shelves that are set at regular intervals throughout the room. A vast collection of fresh and ancient scrolls and volumes of Wyrden origin fill the shelves, all meticulously preserved. The stone of the northern wall has been laid with a latticework of dark wood, creating an intricate mural depicting a grove of stylised Wyrden flora. Dried, trailing rose vines curl around a series of high and narrow glassless windows set into the opposite wall, through which a minimal amount of light illuminates the area. A fresh breeze drifts through the openings, carrying the scents of the dark forest's flora into the tower. Several tiny crystal holders hang from thin chains melded to the arched ceiling, supporting small pillar candles that hover over tables to provide additional lighting. The air is refreshingly cool in this annex, providing relief from the thick, musty smell of the main library. A highly polished ravenwood desk sits here. A darkly elegant armchair stands here, looking inviting. You may use the LIBRARY commands here.
  9. You see a single exit leading out.
  10.
  11. You tilt your head curiously.
  12.
  13. Strange figures seem to coalesce and vanish within the darkness of the shadows just out of your range of sight.
  14.
  15. You crease your brow in a frown.
  16.
  17. A chill creeps down your spine, a rustling coming from behind a pile of scrolls just nearby.
  18.
  19. You have emoted: Esei tilts their head curiously, stepping over to the scrolls.
  20.
  21. The rustling stops as you draw closer, the air itself seeming to come to a stop as you approach.
  22.
  23. You raise an eyebrow questioningly.
  24.
  25. You murmur, "Don't stop on my account."
  26.
  27. "CAW!", cries the crow that seems to have gotten lost in the library, a flurry of oily black wings flapping at you before it takes flight back into the trees of the Glomdoring.
  28.
  29. You stare blankly into space.
  30.
  31. You purse your lips pensively, gazing off into the distance as you carefully gather your thoughts.
  32.
  33. You hear a second "caw" as the crow gets farther away, this one somehow imbued with a taunting tone.
  34.
  35. You crease your brow in a frown.
  36.
  37. You narrow your eyes to thin slits.
  38.
  39. You tell Spirit Warden Xenthos An'Ryshe, the Ebon Strategist, "I saw something odd in the library."
  40.
  41. Xenthos tells you, "Oh?"
  42.
  43. [suddenly, Xenthos]
  44.
  45. Xenthos tilts his head curiously at you.
  46.
  47. Ilistala, an enormous leopard looks around the library curiously.
  48.
  49. You say to Xenthos, "There was a crow rustling in some scrolls."
  50.
  51. You say to Xenthos, "But it flew away and seemed to... taunt me."
  52.
  53. Spirit Warden Xenthos An'Ryshe, the Ebon Strategist says, "I wonder what it was doing."
  54.
  55. Xenthos purses his lips pensively, gazing off into the distance as he carefully gathers his thoughts.
  56.
  57. Dryly, you say, "Possibly nothing good."
  58.
  59. You crease your brow in a frown.
  60.
  61. You ponder the situation.
  62.
  63. [checking the library log... JUST in case.]
  64.
  65. [running around, looking]
  66.
  67. [ends here because I forgot to continue logging like a ninny]
