  1. Scenario Overview
  2.
  3. Map: Pier 39
  4. * For reference, the distance between the teams is roughly 320 meters (1,050 feet/350 yards)
  5.
  6. Team Ame-no-Nobuko: Batman Beyond Tim Drake with Jim Gordon as VIP (will call them Ame from this point on)
  7.
  8. Team FireOfDoom32: Teacher with Fran as the VIP (Will call them Fire from this point on)
  9.
  10. Opening Post - Ame
  11.
  12. Overview
  13. * Ame's position in this fight will be that Batman Beyond will ditch the Mechsuit and give it to Gordon, who will use it for the remainder of the fight
  14. * Ame's first argument is a stat post, where they argue that the Batman Mechsuit is vastly above their damage capabilities and that Tim's armor would be able to handle the blunt and piercing damage from Fire's team
  15. * A sub-argument to this is that both Tim Drake and the Mechsuit have the heat durability to survive Teacher's damage output
  16. * Ame's then goes into his team's offensive power output. Arguing that his team has better weapons, explosive options, and specialized weapons like sonics/tasers that can take down Fran
  17. * This goes into his final position, that Fire's team will be unable to defeat the Batman Mechsuit before it or Batman Beyond takes down Fran
  18.
  19. Response Post - Fire
  20.
  21. Overview
  22. * Fire's first response is that his team is actually composed of three members, that being the Onyx Wolf Jet. Checking the RT, Jet is a summon that Teacher is able to call forth
  23. * Fire's second response is covering the ways his team can dodge attacks or bridge the distance between them. One of Teacher/Fran's powers is teleportation, with a shown jump range equal to a four-story building that can be chained together. In addition, she has aerial mobility powers, the ability to summon rock wall, create vortexes of wind or caste illusory magic walls to distract Batman Beyond
  24. * Jet is able to cast spells that can damage the ceiling of a cave, hide/teleport through shadows, and also has aerial mobility powers like Fran/Teacher
  25. * Fire argues that The Batman Mechsuit and Batman Beyond's stealth can be countered with the extrasensory powers of Teacher
  26. * Fire makes the argument that Tim's suit would not protect him from Teacher's lightning spells, as the damage output of Teacher exceeds what Tim took and that despite resisting the electric burst, he was still damaged by it
  27.
  28. Second Response Post - Ame
  29. * Ame starts this response by arguing that Fire did not address the main threat against his team, that being the Batman Mechsuit
  30. * Ame argues that Fire's team will not be able to react to bullets, would struggle dodging a guided missile, and don't have showings suggesting they can avoid a laser. Additionally, Ame further argues that Fire did not properly argue against his team being more skilled and better in close quarters combat
  31. * Because of this speed gap, Ame further argues out that most of their defenses would be useless against them since they would need to be aim blocks/counters
  32. * Ame argues that the Batman Mechsuit surviving a lightning bolt places it at/above what Teacher is capable of unleashing
  33. * Ame agrees that the Darkness Blast can damage the Mechsuit, but argues the speed of Gordan/the Mechsuit would let it dodge the attacks
  34. * Ame's last argument is restating his previous positions. He argues that the Batman Mechsuit would easily defeat Fire's team in close quarters combat, resists most of their abilities, and has gadgets/weapons that Fran would struggle to deal with like sonic emitters
  35. * Ame argues that Fire has not given a solid foundation for what his team will do in this situation. Ame argues that Teacher's advice for dodging is verbal, and Fran would struggle to keep up with the amount of weapons/gunfire heading her way
  36. * Ame argues that Tim's suit would let him withstand Fran's lightning attacks. He then argues Fran's lightning doesn't have a high amperage to them, so suggesting they could take Tim down is a reach
  37. * Ame ends his response with a rundown of how he views critical match points, saying that even in the best case scenario for Fran that she can't deal with the Batman Mechsuit and would struggle fighting Batman Beyond due to his combat skill, stealth and gadgets
  38.
  39. Third Response Post - Fire
  40. * Fire argues that teleportation magic would counter the missiles due to them striking the area Fran was at before teleporting
  41. * Fire argues that Fran's magic such as the earth wall, vortex, and homing stone bullets would counter the ranged options from Ame's team
  42. * Fire argues that Jet can fire far more Darkness Blasts than the Batman Mechsuit can handle
  43. * Fire argues that the lightning spell in conjunction with Fran's water spells would let the power work on the Batman Mechsuit
  44. * Fire argues that Ame is arguing for Tim Drake to fight in a specific and possibly OOC fashion with his invisibility, additionally Fran can use powers without being told be Teacher, which would let her use those extrasensory abilities to counter Tim
  45. * Fire finally argues that the location would be difficult for both Batman Beyond and the Mechsuit to level due to the building density and Fran's ability to teleport
  46.
  47. Conclusion - My View
  48.
  49. Overall, in these debates, the main things come down to how well you can argue a scenario will happen and why in that scenario, your team or character will win. It's one thing to stat post that Character A can beat Character B, it's another to argue that Character B's skill and location would lead to them getting a victory in most cases due to exploiting factor's in Character A's moveset.
  50.
  51. For this debate Ame put forth a scenario that accounted for both teams and gave reasons why his team would win in this scenario, when Fire never really did that. To go over it:
  52.
  53. * Most of Ame's arguments are proactive. Showing that Batman and the Mechsuit will fight or open in this capacity. With missiles, with invisible stealth, with tasers, with bullets, etc. Even if those options were countered, he addressed alternate scenarios for those powers. For example even if Batman is seen with magic, he can still win n a melee fight. Even if the Mechsuit's missiles are blocked, he has sonics, heat rays or armor piercing bullets. Fire's scenarios were mostly reactive and assumed that Fran has some degree of prior knowledge. While Teacher being an isekai character would understand what missiles or bullets are, Fran wouldn't and her reactions to those things would require time to build up
  54.
  55. * One of Ame's first arguments was about his team being better combatants, the Batman Mechsuit being to durable to be damaged by Fran's team, and the Mechsuit's bullets being able to kill Fran if they hit her. Fire never responded to the CQC skill thing, only gave a single attack that could damage the Mechsuit from her summon, and never established how fast Fran or the Sword are. Bullets move quick and if Fran can't react in time to use her magic, then it doesn't matter how strong her defense systems are.
  56.
  57. * Fire never explained how Fran wins when she closes the distance between her and Ame's team. Fire established that she can dodge and avoided ranged attacks, but even taking that as true, they never established how Fran defeats the Batman Mechsuit. The only counters given was Jet shooting it and Fran's lightning powers. The former is suspect and the latter puts Fran closer to being shot or hit
  58.
  59. * Ultimately, in the match Fire never established a solid scenario where Fran and Teacher can win. They never really countered the scenario Ame put forth, just saying that in that scenario, Fran can do X without establishing why X would let her eventually defeat Gordan. Her speed was never established, her ability to damage the Mechsuit with any power was properly reinforced and the sole concession Ame made was saying that Jet can damage the suit but it would still die to being shot with a bunch of bullets/missiles
  60.
  61. * On a personal note, the amperage needed to blow off a torso-sized amount of skin/muscle would be superior to everything Batman Beyond was shown as withstanding. Maybe not the lightning bolt, as that's a few gigajoules of energy being poured into the suit, but there is an argument for Terry
  62.
  63. Overall I think Ame won the debate.
  64.
  65. My recommendation for Fire would be to think on the following:
  66.
  67. * Establish why your opponent's scenario doesn't work. For example, you asked "why would Terry go invisible"? Show an example of him not doing that, just reading the solo series, there are multiple examples where he just doesn't go invisible when that would be incredibly helpful.
  68. * Establish why Ame's counterpoints don't work. If it says the bullets are X powerful, show inconsistencies in the bullets, like 20mm rounds not fully penetrating an airplane. If Ame argues that Batman Beyond has electrical resistance, show something like Terry's suit being completely deactivated from a voltage overload.
  69. * Explain why Fran can damage Batman or counter the suit. As an example, could you have used Teacher's Pocket Dimension in your arguments? It automatically takes non-living things while leaving living things behind, as shown by the swamp-draining scene. It's also large enough to store multiple city block-sized chunks of rock. Why was that never used as a counter to the Mechsuit? Just teleporting Gordon through the dimension would remove the Batsuit entirely from the fight and leave him mid-air in a highly dangerous situation
  70.
  71. Ultimately, from what I see, you gave your debate opponent the initiative and never took it back. Your arguments were generally defensive rather than offensive and despite being of that nature you never properly addressed important areas like the Mechsuit's physical ability or the skill gap between the teams. While a debater like Ame would have responses to my points above, they would still need to be addressed, as they can be crippling to his presented narrative if left unaddressed.
