»LOVE IS NOT OVER«

PERSONALITY |
— Alex Karev is what you would call a natural leader: it's easy for her to take charge in perilous situations. It's normal for her to make a plan, tell it and say firmly, "this is the way we're going to do it", regardless of how far-fetched her idea is. No matter how much you don't like the way she wants things to be, her smooth communication skills and subtle persuasions will have the whole group agreeing on her idea.
   She's proved herself as a useful tool, not only as a leader but as a communicator. Her knowledge in Russian could potentially prove helpful when tackling foreigners - but she's never been faced with a situation where it's necessary.
   She can also be a bit hot-tempered at times, even if you haven't done anything wrong. You can tell she's in a mood when she sits down, crosses her arms and won't reply to anything. This kind of behaviour happens several times a week, and the rest of the group have accepted this as some kind of weekly routine.
   Occasionally, these emotions will spiral out of control. When this happens, it's best to shove her in her room and leave her alone. Eventually, she'll fall asleep no matter what the time is. This usually happens after she throws all the feathers from her pillow around the room, realises she's going too far, and decides to take a nap on the floor. That also means the room is occupied for the next 12 hours, so her roommate is forced to sleep in the living room.
   She's also a major hypocrite. You leave things to the last minute? You'll get shouted at. If she leaves things to the last minute, it's because she's stressed, she's got a lot of things on her mind and you can shut your mouth promptly. If you drop your ice cream, shut the fuck up, it's just an ice cream. If she drops her ice cream, the world must stop what they're doing and get her a new one immediately. Living with Alex is like living with a giant baby.
   She also refuses to admit when she's wrong, most of the time. She will churn out tons of excuses just so you can't get a word in edgeways, make a loud noise and sit in another room to "think things through". She accepts that she's being problematic, but makes no move to change her behaviour.
   She can be viewed as an overachiever, because none of her efforts are seen as good enough. She'll get home from school after an exam, sit in silence, and think with highly analytical thinking, where she could have fucked up. If her grades aren't perfect, she'll demand a resit. If you dare interrupt her, you'll get a quick slap around the head.
   However, those who don't know Alex see her as observant and serious. It's hard not to agree with that when in public, she's usually sitting with her legs crossed, wearing sunglasses, sipping a Starbucks with no expression on her face. She doesn't make much noise in front of people she doesn't know, preferring to communicate using eye and body language (if that's even possible). She's the type of girl you don't want to sit next to on the bus, because you're intimidated by her unwelcoming stature and blank facial expression.
   When in the company of boys, she's well aware of them, and goes the extra mile just to look eligible. She'll often flirt with them jokingly, comment on people walking by, and generally act like a rich hoe, who's good looking and knows it very well. This kind of behaviour only happens with boy though, and it's very entertaining to watch her like that.
   Now, despite her icy aura, and problematic attitude toward most people, she often shows her soft, caring side, but only in front of her friends. When she's not pissed off, or preparing for an exam, she's the softest bean you'll ever know.
   After coming home from school, or from a long hour of studying, she'll throw on her favourite red sweater, curl up in a ball on the sofa and watch Stranger Things on Netflix. You're not allowed to disturb her, unless you're coming to give her hot chocolate, or you're gonna snuggle with her. After this, she's guaranteed to be happy, and trust me, Alex's smile is the cutest thing you've ever seen.
   She's actually in touch with her caring side, but it doesn't show through in front of most people. If it did, people would get suspicious, because she wouldn't be behaving like the Alex they know. You can tell it's showed if you fall asleep on the couch and wake up with a blanket around you; or if you can't afford the jacket you really wanted from the shop, and you find it sitting on your bed after a day's practise. There's a 99% chance Alex put it there. If you ask who it was, she'll smile and whisper, "it was the fairies". One thing to know is not to confront her about it, because he'll suddenly get very flustered, and your chance of being visited by "the fairies" again gets lowered.
   When her caring side actually comes out publicly, it doesn't last long. For example, the time she got into a fight with one of the Foreigner Club members, and said "I love you, okay? don't forget that" after making up with them. They just looked at her weirdly, making her say coldly, "what's so interesting, hoe?"
   In short, Alex is a very emotional person. You can catch her in a good mood, or in a bad one. Either way, there's nothing stopping you from loving her irrationally.

BACKGROUND |
— Alex Karev was born to a high-class family in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in the winter of 2001. Her father worked as salesman and her mother as a pediatrician, at the nearby hospital. Because of those circumstances, she didn't see her parents until late at night, and was taken care of by her older sister Alis - the girl who taught her all the swear words by the time she reached the age of 5. By the time she was 9, she let her wander off into the city alone (something she got awfully scolded for), and she'd often end up sitting in the park trying to talk to equally lonely people.
   Alex and her family relocated to Khabarovsk, Russia, when she was 10, in 2011. She was told it was for a "fresh start", but she didn't entirely believe her parents when they said that. Her and Alis were almost completely illiterate in how to socialise with new people, and that was the reason behind their alleged shyness and introversion. Plus, they were homeschooled for seven months prior to Alex picking her ass up from the floor and learning to be confident enough to attend real school. Following several month's worth of intent psychological studying, and her whining about how hard it is to make friends, she attended high school, around the same time Alis attended college.
   Her best friend became Alexei Rodchenko, a blonde teenager who suffered mild hearing loss because of the volume he listened to music at. Bearing in mind they were both 13 at the time, Alexei liked to take Alex for a trip in his dad's Range Rover, and tell her obviously fictional stories about the time he fought off a bear in the woods.
   They stayed friends all the way until late 2016, when her father was offered a much higher-paying job in his sales, and her mother wasn't in a "good working environment". Unlike her sister Alis, Alex was going to be taken to the relocation, leaving her friend and school behind. She lost all contact with Alexei, in hope it would make her a little less sad. She was told they were relocating to South Korea, and upon that, Alex basically lost it, and wouldn't talk to her parents for days. She even considered getting on a flight to Mexico, and becoming a drug dealer. Thankfully, she still had some sanity left.
   Alis decided to purposely make her little sister jealous of her life at college in Russia, by sending her photos of landmarks and stuff that South Korea definitely did not have. Alex eventually grew to like her new life in Korea, but there was one problem - she knew next-to-nothing in the language. Several hours of studying a day didn't do much help, and she was subsequently led to join the lamest club in the whole school - the Foreigner Club.

WHY THEY MOVED TO KOREA | She was told it was because of her parents' work, and after sneaking around she discovered that it was because her mom was offered a job as the head of surgery in another hospital. Alex got triggered because her mom was doing fine in her own job, and they didn't even HAVE TO move.

WHAT DO THEY WANT TO BE WHEN THEY GROW UP AND WHY | Alex wants to be a psychologist, and from what she's heard, they get paid a lot. She likes the idea of listening to other people's problems and helping them overcome fears and stuff. If you want to know about the deeper side, it's also because she never really talks to anyone about her problems, because she doesn't know who to talk to. Being a psychologist means you're one of those people others can talk to when they feel like they don't have anyone else.

WHAT UNIVERSITY WOULD THEY LIKE TO GO TO? | The University of Cambridge, the world's third best university for psychology, based in England. She wants to aim for that kind of ranking, believing that somewhere better would be too much of a stretch, and this is the right kind of area.

FIRST IMPRESSION OF THEM |
— She thought he appeared kind of salty, which instantly made her want to be friends with him. She's long since admired those kinds of people who generally don't give a fuck what the general public thinks, and he sort of appeared that way. She also noticed how tall he was, and she hated it; the cliche of small people plotting against the taller kind is no joke. He was quiet, and she thought maybe she was intimidating him, which felt pretty fucking good. The last thing she thought before the club meeting ended was, "I'd hit that."

HOW THEY ACT AROUND YOU |
— As the trope goes, the two of them acted fine around each other for the start, not really friends, not really enemies. They had this friendly hate going on between each other, which was surprisingly floaty for the boat. He would often tap her head and try picking her up to make her mad, and this often ended in him laughing his ass off while getting hit. He would flirt with her jokingly, and she'd pretend not to like it. He usually acted like his normal self around her, but he's just a lil' bit nicer to her.

— She tries to make herself seem hard to get, and that often fails miserably, but she's under the impression that no, it's going well. She tries to be colder around him, to push him away, but he always manages to break that wall. She's also a bit more cheerful inside, when he's around, but she pretends not to notice it.
