  1. How to not be a shitter at Pest Control, according to /v/scape.
  2.
  3. -= What is Pest Control? =-
  4.
  5. Pest Control (also known as PC), is a team-based minigame. You fight monsters that spawn out of portals while protecting an NPC in the middle of the map, the Void Knight. You will most likely die in the minigame, but you will NOT lose your items! Successful completion of the game awards you with commendation points. PC is effectively the best way to level up combat skills at high levels when you exchange 100 commendation points, or to obtain the Void Knight armor sets.
  6.
  7. -= Where is it located/how to get there? =-
  8.
  9. Go south of Falador until you reach Port Sarim. Keep going south along the docks until you run into the Squire. Right-click on him and select the Leave option. You will now be at the Void Knight Outpost. Continue further south and you will reach the Lander for PC. You need at least 3 players in the boat to leave for the minigame.
  10.
  11. You can also use a Games Necklace to teleport there instantly.
  12.
  13. -= I don't understand how the game goes?! =-
  14.
  15. Mosnters spawn out of portals, each located in a specific direction. (W, SW, SE, E) Monsters only spawn once the Void Knight has disabled a portal's shield and the portal can only be attacked once the shield has gone down. When a shield goes down, a message will show up indicating which one is ready to be taken down. Each portal has 250 health and indicated by the upper right. The upper left of your screen shows the Void Knight's HP and how much damage you have done in the game. You have 10 minutes to take down all the portals and keep the Knight alive.
  16.
  17. You get 5 commendation points for the first 50 damage you shell out in the game. Afterwards, you get 1 extra point every 100 points (150, 250, 350, etc). This is why players love to keep portals up as long as possible; to farm the monsters spawning out of the portals.
  18.
  19. The Void Knight is not 100% safe, unfortunately. Keep an eye on his HP. If it begins to go down, he is most likely being attacked by one or more Shifters. At least one PC player (preferably one with at least 43 prayer for Protect from Melee) must go to the Void Knight to direct the Shifters' attacks and take them down. They can come in pretty high levels, so be prepared to engage in a long battle if you're a low combat level.
  20.
  21. -= How do I farm effectively??? =-
  22.
  23. This is what gets most /v/scape players rustled. Someone who doesn't know how to farm. Here are the basic guidelines:
  24.
  25. 1. Keep a portal low on HP and alive until the next portal's shield is taken down. This way you can keep damaging monsters that spawn from the current portal.
  26.
  27. 2. Aggro Spinners! You don't have to necessarily kill them, but they will heal the portal if you don't direct their attacks towards you. They will also explode and deal major damage upon the portal's death. If someone says to keep Spinners alive, feel free to aggro the Spinners but not kill them, as the player wants the low HP attack bonus from Dharok's set. If you're pro you can use the Spinners to heal the portal to do more damage, but beware of multiple Spinners or accidentally blasting the portal to death with too many people attacking it.
  28.
  29. 3. Once you get down to 2 portals left, ask everyone if they're comfortable with keeping 2 portals alive at once or 1. 2 portals allows a relatively strong or large team to farm more damage. If you keep 2 portals alive, just make sure your team can take both down within the last two minutes of the game. One thing to keep in consideration are the Spinners. More Spinners coming out of the portals means more HP the portals will heal. You can even keep 3 portals up if you're good/large enough.
  30.
  31. 4. Keep all gates except the West gate opened. The West gate has a direct line from the portal to the Void Knight, so monsters can quickly take down the Void Knight. All other gates are fine as pathfinding for monsters is silly, unless you directly lead a monster towards the center.
  32.
  33. 5. Use communication. The command ::pc allows you to use the PC global chat. There is no cooldown unlike ::yell.
  34.
  35.
  36. -= End =-
  37.
  38. That's it. PC is a pretty easy minigame and there isn't much to it, just keep portals alive as long as you can without failing the game. Oh, and there's Foxter Time, which means you just take down the portals ASAP because fuck you're mom.
