- Need some advice - Domain name/Copyright
- Hi, I need some advice after having this issue raised by someone else.
- I had a site set up from here in a niche that I was not too familiar with.

- This domain was 3 words - (word1)(word2)Blog
- Now I am aware that there is quite a big supplier of products in my niche which has the brand name (word1+word2)
- Should I be considered about the possibility of legal action in the future? If so should I change the name
- At the moment the site is averaging $500 a month and on the rise and had lots of links pointing to it.
- The domain can't be targeted by brands.
- But the content can: essentially it can be DCMA'd and deindexed from Google.
- Also you can receive some cease and desist letters
- But only for your content if its clearly targeting and/or talking about the brand.
- But the domain is "clean" from attacks
- You can register pepsi.tech and talk about little cute puppies without issues from Pepsi
- The domain can't be targeted by brands.
- I think your being overly optimistic in that assessment.
- liquidweb.com
- domain archaea
- refban.com
- hosting house seoul
- world economic forum host city
- host defense
- 577cash.com
- domain 5286
- If you use a trademarked term in your domain url be prepared for a cease and desist letter, whatever purpose you are using it for. Even if it is similar sounding, you can have issues. But from the sound of this it seems they are in a similar sphere.
- So for the op the main question is there a trademark on the words? If yes you may want to look at changing things up.
- Thank you for both your answers. Where is the best place for searching this? I found two websites but they both gave me different answers.
- Anyone have any idea?
- I bought some domain for Lego brand before,I had whois but they reach me via domain seller and get my real info and send me message to give them domain or they will start legal process.so better don't mess with this
- It's a little iffy seeing how they operate in the same niche, from their point of view, you're simply using their name. Just don't mention the company at all and hope for the best.
- How easy is it to change domain and bring all existing backlinks with it?
- Anyone else able to provide further insight?
