The Empress does not have a lusus capable of producing the VAST GLUB, and the Condesce is not the Empress, though an analogue known as HER IMPERIAL CONQUERA takes her place. The hemospectrum operates in the same way, and ALTERNIA is just as harsh of a world to grow up on.

The ALTERNIA-VERDANT is generally entrusted to purplebloods under the GRAND HIGHBLOOD's hire. Though this sounds like it would create an incredibly violent culture, this GRAND HIGHBLOOD's strange visions and portents have led him to instruct his augurs to maintain a rather peaceful society on the last planet that Trollkind will ever inhabit. This explains the striking culture difference between the Empire and the VERDANT; in addition, the Empress trusts the GRAND HIGHBLOOD to run things smoothly, and concerns herself with little else beyond conquering.
