1. Development Training with Esbern
2.
3. Finally, the day had came where he would fight against this cherished ally. Someone equally or possibly even stronger than him. It was the strength of Riptide combined with Blood Magic against a simple teen who was growing with both Cosmic and Fire magic, trying to create something new from the two through infusion. Trying to achieve the Aura of the Phoenix. Throughout this fight were many failed attempts, some of which lead to his defeat in one round. But, a lucky shot won the battle, one that gave him that golden glow if only for half a second!
4.
5. "My deal will always be open to you, friend. Just remember to keep bringing my herbs you find - I'm planning on growing my own poppylus, once I get enough seeds... the packets are expensive, but I'm getting better at harvesting the seeds themselves!", Esbern continues with a little bit of excitement in his voice. There was nothing quite as inspiring as the feeling of progress.
6. (Esbern Antioch)
7. [08:56] Esbern Antioch says, "bringing me*"
8. [09:02] He snickers a bit, "You wise dog. I knew you were consuming at least something for all your troubles... Hell, honestly, I might just stick to just the agility potions, so that when the time comes, I won't have to focus so much on my speed, but hone my body to be durable and strong."
9.
10. That's when he had to show off his idea, "If I plan to be the Phoenix of Osrona, I can't be a slow one haha."
11.
12. "And your goals, they're clear as day.. I'm sure with the work you put in, you'll be the worlds top tier alchemist."
13. (Uri Sanctum)
14. [09:05] Esbern chuckles, and replies a little smugly; "only the top alchemist? maybe the top artificer too!"
15.
16. His smile goes down a bit, as he stops joking; "well, for now, I'm focused on building up the guild, getting more members. I'm hoping that eventually. the words "member of the artisan's guild" will be treated with prestige, advertising guaranteed skill to all."
17. (Esbern Antioch)
18. [09:06] Esbern Antioch exclaims, "Oh, that's right! once I get approval from the royals, I'll officially be Guildmaster Esbern!"
19. [09:06] Esbern Antioch exclaims, "My very own title!"
20. [09:09] Uri would smile. "Right on brother, right on. Now, what should we do now? The morning is calm and things are pretty boring around... Should we go and train for a bit? Havn't been training for a bit, but I need to hone the energy of the cosmos. Mind helping me?"
21. (Uri Sanctum)
22. [09:13] Esbern Antioch says, "Sure, sounds like a plan"
23. [09:14] Esbern Antioch asks, "Any preference on location?"
24. [09:14] Uri Sanctum says, "The dojo of course."
25. [09:14] Esbern Antioch says, "Ah, then let's go"
26. [09:15] Esbern Antioch says, "The store has finally been stocked - feel free to talk to the storekeeper if you need anything"
27. [09:16] Uri Sanctum exclaims, "Thanks!"
28. [09:16] Esbern Antioch says, "Hoho, make sure to spread the word"
29. [09:22] Young Uri was grateful that his friend was willing to help him out. "It's just a theory of mine... If I want to be seen as a Phoenix, I have to adopt the qualities of one as well right?" Uri would try to sit there and focus on the cosmic energy, only to try and infuse it with fire energy, to shroud himself in this aura.
30.
31. The goal, was to make this flame a golden one, so that it would also heal him over time. But, Uri had some complications. He could not fully utilize cosmic energy... Sure he was mentored by Robin cos Queen, but he was behind in even grasping the concept and executing the ability like everyone else in the classroom.
32.
33. "Hrng…" The teen grunts, as his aura was different from his sisters... They defeated and both got a share of the Raging Blazards flame taken into their bodies...Faira had its corruptions while Uri had its other qualities, the innocents within the beast, its rage, but dormant... So because of that, he had this little slim edge of his, to try and nurture the flames within to one day become golden..
34.
35. Right now, Esbern would notice only a few gold sparks, nothing special, nothing beneficial to the fight at all. Just Uri's struggles only resulting in a normal flame. "Dammit, I can't go beyond this point..."
36. (Uri Sanctum)
37. [09:23] Esbern steps into the dojo in order to help his friend Uri Sanctum. He feels strange, though - earlier, he'd turned down a request to spar someone who was looking to hone himself, but now he was willingly getting up on the stage again... Was it because it was the dojo that he was willing? Or was it to help out a friend?
38.
39. 'Nonsense!', Esbern internally berates himself. He summons his standard coils of water, raging around him... but he can't help but feel that today, his coils of water just aren't as angry as they're meant to be. The flow was stiff, stifling.
40.
41. But he pushed through - after all, this was just a friendly spar, no big deal, and it was to help a dear friend. Preparing his staff, he takes a casting stance, and begins channeling his mana - as soon as he did, he once again felt that something was off.
42.
43. "Alright, let's do this!", he says with forced Bravado.
44. (Esbern Antioch)
45. [09:32] Panting as he rushes between each attack, taking blow after blow, Uri may have won this round. BUT he was learning that trying to create something new, or rather in this case... Bringing out an ancient magic, was not so easy. He struggled with his defenses. He kept up, but his footwork needed some practice.
46.
47. "Can't focus..." The embers of flame from the aura he was trying to create did not want to form and stabilize. "I need focus.." He tried to use abilities such as the meteor dash, but... Uri failed multiple times to truly bring out the golden flame.. "What am I doing wrong?" He would ask himself over and over during the fight.
48.
49. Left pung jab...Right punch heavy throw... These were the simple skills he was performing, but while he tried to forge the golden flames. He would feel the difficulty between each strike... "Is it there?" He asked himself once more after victory from their first round...
50.
51. "I don't know if I can dig deep enough to bring about a new flame... A true Phoenix fire...What am I doing wrong?" He asked himself and Esbern… Flames shrouded him, but it brought him in and out of a form with fire and without.
52. (Uri Sanctum)
53.
54. [09:34] As per Esbern's usual sparring style, he fires off smell pellets of bullets of his own enchanted blood, spawned at from his fingertips, and flicked at high speed towards Uri. His only truly effective move against Uri, who maintained a proper distance from Esbern, until he closed in for potent close range combos.
55.
56. The usual cooling of the water wasn't there, Esbern found, as Uri's regular flames reached him - he could feel that the heat wasn't just reaching him, but properly getting to him. Huffing and puffing heavily, it isn't long before Esbern is forced to admit defeat for the first round.
57.
58. "You're even quicker thanlast time, Uri!", he gasps. Were his agility x potions that potent?, he wonders to himself.
59.
60. "You're wanting a flame even more potent than that?", he queries, hoping to buy a little time to catch his breath.
61. (Esbern Antioch)
62. [09:40] OOF! A big flaw! Uri was too distracted in trying to raise up the heat of his flames. He would not be able to connect with his star, Anos for this one. But rather, he pushed himself to a point where his focus was not on the battle, but on how he can elevate his power to the desired extent he was searching for.
63.
64. Panting as he was defeated this round. Uri picks himself up to stand once more. "This is making things difficult... I need to focus on the battle, not my flames..." The little embers of a golden spark was from that infusion, but he was no where near close. He needed time, he needed possibly years of devoted practice in order to achieve that skill.
65.
66. "I agree with what you said, about me being faster, but... What use is that if I can't turn my flames gold?... If such a thing is even possible... I have to keep trying, even if I grow old with insanity."
67.
68. Uri takes his stance once more. He would wait for the battle to begin, their final round. "Alright, this ones the tie breaker, let's see how it plays out." The young Medic kept an eye out for the openings, especially for the potent riptide magic possessed by Esbern.
69. (Uri Sanctum)
70. [09:41] Scarlett Kurokaiyo says, "Hm.."
71. [09:41] Esbern manages to concentrate during this round, piercing through his sluggish manipulation of water to land several well timed surges on Uri. The key, he found, was in the timing of his shots, and soon enough, enough blows had been landed to knock Uri down.
72.
73. 'I can do this!', he reinforces himself mentally, believing that this was achieved through effort, and that all he needed to do solve his sluggishness was try harder.
74.
75. "I'm not so bad after all, eh?", Esbern puffs, drenched in sweat, but looking far more confident.
76.
77. "Let's do this!", he repeats, this time with far more vigour.
78. (Esbern Antioch)
79. [09:43] Scar walked into the dojo to see two people fighting. They looked like they were really going at it. If anything it was good to see people inside of the dojo fighting. She loved fghts and watching the flames and dark inky waters splash across the horizon of the dojo was cool.
80.
81. She lived for the battle.
82. (Scarlett Kurokaiyo)
83. [09:43] {Won Restrained RPB against Esbern Antioch}
84. [09:49] Uri pushed himself more this fight. He would continue to pour and try to balance his focus and time on both fighting and infusing the energies of the cosmos with his flame. "Please, house of Anos…" He spoke whilst dashing through the arena, leaving trails of fire until.
85.
86. A spark turned into a blazing flame. Now, it was unexpected but the power was brief, very brief, only being there for a blanking second. It was not even something he was aware of, but his flames did turn into a HALF godlen hue. Sending him forward in his final jolt of the Lariat ability towards his friend which lead to a violent and almost too speedy assault.
87.
88. By too speedy, it is simply implied that Uri almost fell multiple times due to this lack of control. The golden flames around him would be focused onto his fist, punching Esbern not in the center of his chest, but his ribcage through a violent uppercut... "Heh!!!" Uri felt the rush but he did not notice a change, as his flames would revert to their normal colors after the final strike was delivered.
89.
90. He won the spar, but he still felt far away from obtaining the Phoenic Flame, the one goal in his life to come as a Medic. "---Esbern!" He would shout to his friend out of concern, rushing over to try and see what had happened if the blow to his ribs were too much. Uri was just worried for his friend... He wouldn't know the outcome of this rib-shot.
91. (Uri Sanctum)
92.
93. [09:51] Still watching them fight it looked like it finally came to an end. Both of them were pretty decently strong and the little girl thought she would be able to do a nice job against them if they every went at it. Which went for them both.
94.
95. Though? They would have to see one day. They were both really tired and from the looks they might not be fighting anymore which was pretty fair.
96.
97. The little young teen did note however how well there skill was, magic's, movement. It was important in her eyes.
98. (Scarlett Kurokaiyo)
99. [09:53] This time, Esbern feels the flow of the fight, if not the flow of his water, and puts his all into it. For a moment, he forgets this is to help Uri, and just enjoys the spar purely for the competition.
100.
101. Vigorously throwing blasts of water out, and flicking pellets of blood out constantly, Esbern goes all out. A couple times he even charges in himself, waving his staff about with bravado, if nothing else. Unfortunately for Esbern, this doesn't change how hot Uri's flames are, or how potent his fist strikes and kicks are.
102.
103. Soon enough, Esbern is back to breathing heavily, drenched in sweat. sweat?, esbern thought to himself, A water magi relying on sweat?, and that's when its hit him.
104.
105. The flow of his water stopped. Leaving himself completely open to an unusually powerful from blow to the ribs from Uri, he finds himself in pain - for a moment, blindingly so. Esbern tumbles at an odd ankle, putting too much weight on his ankle as he falls.
106.
107. "AghhhhH!", Esbern yelps out in pain. It was nowhere near the pain he suffered at the hands of the elementals, or the crellus, but it was still pretty severe.
108.
109. "My goddamn ribs... fuuuuuck"
110. (Esbern Antioch)
111. [09:59] After hearing Esbern verify that it was indeed his ribs that were hurt. Uri would try and ask his friend as calmly as he could. "Buddy, you alright? Do you need first aid?... I can patch you up!" He was somewhat panicking about this. He did not like it when his friends were injured, especially by his own hands. So Uri was somewhat freaking out over this.
112.
113. "These hands were meant for healing, not this," the teen had some issues accepting that this could very well be an accident and not an act of violence. "Oh man, oh man." He would press his hands against his own head with his fingers digging into his hair. He was clearly stressed for the moment till he realized just how comical it all was.
114.
115. He was on the verge of a nervous break down, but now, he couldn't help but smile a bit. It wasn't a laugh, but it was a build up to his sense of humor. Not always having to take things so seriously, especially when the conditions were accepted to spar under the conditions of an experiment. So, his flames would fade away as he made the attempt to help Esbern up. "I'm truly sorry friend but... Have you ever thought of doing stand up jester comedy?"
116. (Uri Sanctum)
117.
118. [10:11] Esbern accepts Uri's aid in standing up, then coughs in response to Uri's joke, saying "Goddamnit, don't make me laugh, it hurts... mind peddling me over to one of the stools? I'm sure I'll be fine after a couple minutes..."
119.
120. Esbern's hopefulness wasn't reflected by reality, unfortunately - it'd be a few days to a few weeks before he'd be moving about... and then there was the issue of his water magic. What went wrong there?
121.
122. "Sorry, Uri, I didn't mean to be a drag. But hey, for a moment there... your flames seemed a little different.", Esbern says, trying to shift the attention to Uri's flames, rather than Esbern's particularly embarrassing tumble.
123. (Esbern Antioch)
124. [10:17] Fixing her katana a little bit Scar thought about going over to the mines and getting some things for the her smiths like her job was but right now? she just didn't want to really leave or so it seemed.
125.
126. In the next few hours or maybe even minutes she was going to take her leave sooner or later.
127. (Scarlett Kurokaiyo)
128. [10:17] Though it was hard to say, if he should feel relieved or still be a bit stressed out. Uri would have offered some help to his friend. "Different? You saying that, all that fighting was not for nothing?" He asked while escorting Esbern to the sidelines.
129.
130. He would take out his first aid back, something always strapped to the right side of his hip. "Let me at least, remedy----Hold on... You're the alchemist, the drug man, why don't you take a Lax Essence?" Uri joked with the friend of his.
131.
132. Now, he would apply his medical studies to the injury at hand. "Alright, let me just...Hmph!" He would place an ice wrapping around Esberns torso for now, it was all he could do without the proper equipment for him to work on the fluffy injury. "Easy does it." He moves over to where Scarlett was.
133. (Uri Sanctum)
