  13. FissionGM The bridge is a dark, charred, mess featuring ash turning to runny mush, and equipment in various states of partially skeletonized, burnt, partially melted, and broken but mostly intact.
  14. FissionGM The windows, aside from those that have been wiped clean anyway, remain smoke blackened, their windshield wipers still dutifully squeegeeing their outer surface at regular intervals. The missing wall and shattered windows help improve the view somewhat, but they also let the weather in.
  15. FissionGM Ahead, Lilly can see the whole front of the ship rise and fall as it sails into the waves which break over the bow sending walls of water along the deck. Beyond is the vast black expanse of ocean occasionally made visible beyond the reach of the ship’s external lights by flashes of lightning.
  16. FissionGM What water does get into the bridge goes tumbling out the hole in the wall as the ship rolls side to side.
  17. FissionGM Bisque and Ved are buffeted by wind and water as they search the deck ship’s main deck and container stacks from on high. Fortunately neither of them need fear the menace of hypothermia.
  18. FissionGM The dragon would find it much easier to stay with the ship if it wasn’t moving around so much and he didn’t have to fight the winds of the storm, but so far he has managed to stay with it and not crash or be crashed into.
  19. FissionGM Down in the computer bay sterile illumination is provided by a few LED dome lights on the ceiling blinking diagnostic lights of the computer’s themselves. Thankfully the fire was put out before the floor of the bridge could begin to melt and collapse or start letting water infiltrate down. Accessing the computers in order to control the ship is proving problematic with the consoles on the...
  20. FissionGM ...bridge ruined.
  21. FissionGM Tuuli has reported that she has moved into the captains quarters to begin reheating. According to her the 5th deck is deserted
  22. FissionGM .
  23. Lilly Lilly inspects the bridge for any sort of "intel", such as strategically abandoned electronics, papers or some such. If nothing's found, she goes out to inspect the corpses, preferably not the burnt and dismembered ones.
  24. =-= theMarg0r is now known as Larisa_Koroleva
  25. =-= Victoria is now known as Bisque
  26. Larisa_Koroleva tries to figure out a way to make things work at least enough to stop the ship.
  27. Bisque Thankfully, at least for Il-Ved, his lack of winged flight means that staying up with the ship is a nearly effortless task, as he doesn't have to commit any sort of higher level thought to the maneuver - the 'hand' that strings him pulls him along as he desires, the wind merely whipping at his body in an incredibly minor annoyance. Bisque has focused more of her own attention
  28. Bisque on clinging close to Il-Ved for warmth on the other hand, trying to avoid any chance of freezing over, as opposed to hypothermia.
  29. FissionGM Nothing out of the norm stands out on the bridge, aside from a, now burned and hairless, hula doll affixed to the flat top of one of the consoles. The remains of a few three ring binders and folders show nothing but a few partially intact bits of routine logs and paperwork.
  30. FissionGM The two corpses on the bridge definitely count at charred.
  31. FissionGM *as burnt
  32. Lilly She'll look for someone important looking and relatively intact outside.
  33. FissionGM the two corpses between the funnel and super structure on the 6th deck don't look like like leaders or specialists to Lilly's discerning eye. Every other reported kill was indoors and lower down.
  34. FissionGM Whether through poor luck, lack or attention, or being more focused on flying in adverse conditions Ved hasn't really figured out what's going on below him, bisque on the other hand, though practised observation and peering into the shadows when lighting beats them back, is certain that no one is outside forward of the superstructure.
  35. Bisque With nobody outside to pick up, she starts directing him back toward the others to regroup.
  36. FissionGM Larissa there is a terminal with monitor, keyboard, and integrated trackball down in the computer bay. the screen is back except for a few lines of white text in a language you aren't familiar with, possibly greek, below the text is a blinking white stubby horizontal line
  37. Lilly Lilly shrugs and continues to follow the trail of corpses.
  38. Larisa_Koroleva "Oh." she checks the layout of the keyboard. "I might not be able to stop the ship using the computers. We might need to look for other ways to alter its course. Keep looking for the crew." she reports to the others.
  39. FissionGM The first corpse in the stairwell Lilly comes across she recognizes as the man who shot her on the bridge. His equipment is burned with eh polymer and rubber components melted to varying degrees. One flight below is the man she shanked in the stairwell who tried to cleave her open with a bloody machete, before Ved burned him to death. Both seem important. Most of the hostiles you encountered seem
  40. FissionGM ed to defer to the man in the melted gear.
  41. FissionGM each key is marked with three sets of characters, one familiar Latin letters, the other this displayed language, and the third something Asian.
  42. Lilly Lilly gets on the comms, "Corpses of the important people are burned, no evidence on them so far. Good job." She says sarcastically and then digs into the corpse of the man in melted gear, searching for anything outstanding
  43. Bisque "Hey, I'm not the one who wanted to be here or engage in a fight like this. Can't really blame me for not being suited to it."
  44. Larisa_Koroleva "This... probably isn't going to work." she says to herself, then tries to figure it out at least enough to see if she can change the language. It's a long shot, but if there are three sets of characters on the keyboard, it might be worth trying.
  45. FissionGM in one of the man's pockets Lilly finds a photograph of a black polymer attache case.
  46. FissionGM on the back are a series of numbers 33-14-34-99
  47. Lilly Lilly collects the photo and looks it over before returning on the comms. "One of the corpses had a photo of a black briefcase of sorts, must've been what they were after. Be on look out for it."
  48. Lilly She reads the numbers too.
  49. FissionGM you get the same string of several times. It's identical nature makes you think it's probably an error message.
  50. FissionGM The other corpse has the same picture and numbers in the same handwriting
  51. FissionGM Larisa there are ports to connect other devices to the computer system.
  52. FissionGM Down two more decks Lilly comes across another corpse, this one pierced in several places by now mostly melted stakes of ice. He seems as unimportant as the two outside.
  53. FissionGM That accounts for all reported kills. A trail blood drops does go deeper into the ship though.
  54. Larisa_Koroleva starts looking for something she could connect to the computer that would help her make it cooperate.
  55. Lilly "Possible survivor over here, got a blood trail going inside of the ship, gonna follow." Lilly reports on the radio and then sets out to follow the trail, collecting the blood drops upon herself as she goes.
  56. FissionGM No other devices of that description seem to be around in the computer bay.
  57. Larisa_Koroleva "Affirmative. Where are you right now? I might come down there with you, it seems like I've done all I can up here."
  58. Lilly "<Insert location here>"
  59. FissionGM Lilly reaches the bottom of the stair well on deck 2 of the superstructure, it smells like food down here. to the north and south are hallways with many doors each intersecting a hall that goes west.
  60. Lilly "Deck two of the superstructure, next to canteen it seems." Does the blood trail disappear?
  61. FissionGM other than the sounds of machinery its relatively quiet.
  62. Larisa_Koroleva "Right, I'm coming down." she leaves the computer room and goes down to deck 2 at a brisk pace.
  63. FissionGM The blood trail ends at a small piddle at the wall to your east. it looks like whoever was bleeding held up there and stopped the drip before continuing.
  64. FissionGM *puddle
  65. FissionGM (that thing to your east is another stair well it goes down. the puddle is just to the side of the door that goes into it. the door is closed but has a tall narrow window)
  66. FissionGM Larisa makes it down to join Lilly without incident.
  67. Larisa_Koroleva "I'm here."
  68. Lilly "I can see that. The survivor did some first aid here so the trail ends. You wanna split up as we search?"
  69. Larisa_Koroleva "Yes, let's. Normally I wouldn't but the sooner we find someone or something to help us, the better."
  70. Larisa_Koroleva "If you run into any trouble, radio for help."
  71. Bisque Bisque sighs. "It really doesn't look like anyone's up here. What do we do next?"
  72. Larisa_Koroleva "Now we check below deck. Unless they threw all of the crew members overboard, we're going to find someone sooner or later."
  73. Lilly "Right, let's go."
  74. Bisque "Should I keep watch, or should I go with you?"
  75. FissionGM Lilly as you head south the smell of food get's stronger, looking down the hall to the east seems to show the entrance to a common room.
  76. Larisa_Koroleva "Can you leave Il-Ved up there to keep an eye out and come down yourself, or would that be too much of a hassle?"
  77. FissionGM Larissa for you the smell gets fainter. your east hall goes to another normal door like the others in this area. brown, with a name tag in a plastic pouch upper middle
  78. Larisa_Koroleva starts checking the doors.
  79. FissionGM Behind the doors with name tags are crew cabins. These are small 2 room affairs with the latter room being just a toilet, sink, and shower crammed into the smallest possible space. Each features a foot locker, desk, and cabinet and a chair or two, and a flat TV mounted on one of the off-white walls. Books are a common sight, the kind, condition, number, and where they are stashed varying heavily.
  80. FissionGM the two doors to the direct north and south of the stairwell you came in from are supply closets
  81. Lilly Lilly enters the common room and begins searching it for any hiding spots.
  82. FissionGM Lilly finds the source of the food smell to be a number of plates stacked with taco salad in various states of consumption, sadly most of it has clattered to the floor.
  83. FissionGM A video on the big screen most of the tables face is paused about an hour into Men In Black.
  84. Bisque follows the others down, while Il-Ved gets left up top, hurrying to catch up with the others.
  85. FissionGM the majority of the cabins seem unmolested, though a few have cabinets or drawers pulled open. Larissa finds several laptops, one of which is open and showing a screen saver.
  86. FissionGM Bisque makes it down without incident.
  87. Lilly "Common room is clear." She heads out of the room and to the west
  88. Lilly (Fission, East is Right, West is Left)
  89. Lilly (If we assume that north is up)
  90. FissionGM (right. did I get my west and east backwards?)
  91. FissionGM (shit I did. sorry)
  92. -->| TooLazy (LazyturdDu@sux-60E1217C.elisa-laajakaista.fi) has joined #TacticalMagicalGirlActionIC
  93. =-= TooLazy is now known as Tuuli_Merisuo
  94. Tuuli_Merisuo "Ahh, that was a good nap, now I can actually feel some heat in my body again, anyone found anything?"
  95. FissionGM the three other magical girls all hear that on their radios
  96. Larisa_Koroleva (wow thanks I would never have guessed)
  97. Larisa_Koroleva "No survivors yet, and the computer was in a language I didn't understand. I couldn't figure anything out, sorry."
  98. Tuuli_Merisuo "Right, understood, any idea where we should meet up?"
  99. Larisa_Koroleva "Hmm." she checks what language the laptop is in.
  100. FissionGM the laptops cooling fans pick up speed screensaver goes to a windows sign in screen. "pasword: "
  101. Lilly (Eugh, Not feeling too kosher, I might pass out)
  102. Larisa_Koroleva (we can stop if you want)
  103. FissionGM The username for the account is just "User"
  104. Lilly (You can go on without me, let's just say Lilly takes over Tuuli's bunk)
  105. Tuuli_Merisuo Starts heading down the stairs
  106. FissionGM Tuuli makes it down tot he 2nd deck without incident.
  107. Larisa_Koroleva tries a few common passwords, including "password".
  108. FissionGM The laptop makes that familiar sound and you are greeted with a Hotline Miami wallpaper.
  109. Tuuli_Merisuo "Hey, whats up?"
  110. Tuuli_Merisuo taps Larisa on the shoulder
  111. Larisa_Koroleva "Oh, I might have found something that might help me interface with the ship's computer system. The only functional terminal I could find was in... I think Greek."
  112. |<-- Lilly has left irc.thisisnotatrueending.com (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
  113. Tuuli_Merisuo "Ah, well, thats kinda weird..."
  114. -->| FissionAgain (62b7bd70@sux-FCD30E9C.mibbit.com) has joined #TacticalMagicalGirlActionIC
  115. =-= FissionAgain is now known as Lilly
  116. Tuuli_Merisuo "Lilly, you doing ok in there?"
  117. Tuuli_Merisuo "You seem kinda...weird... weirder than usual."
  118. Lilly "It's your imagination."
  119. Tuuli_Merisuo "Oh, never mind..."
  120. Tuuli_Merisuo "So, shouldnt we be looking for the crew instead of trying to crack a computer thats in greek?"
  121. Larisa_Koroleva "We still need to stop the ship or change its course, so I'm taking this and going back upstairs." she grabs the laptop. "You keep looking for the crew."
  122. Tuuli_Merisuo "Oh, ok then, you do that..."
  123. Tuuli_Merisuo starts scanning rest of this room
  124. Tuuli_Merisuo "Nothing so far..."
  125. Larisa_Koroleva connects the laptop to the computer and tries again.
  126. Tuuli_Merisuo "Any luck?"
  127. FissionGM Larisa after you plug the laptop in and you watch the little blue circle that your cursor becomes spin for a bit, a window opens and a command prompt comes up asking, in English, for you to select a language. After that you are in. your not sure what does what, but accessing the manual and help information is easy enough and you begin the process of deciphering that while keeping an ear to...
  128. FissionGM ...the radio.
  129. Larisa_Koroleva "Much better than before."
  130. Tuuli_Merisuo "Cool, still searching through the 2nd deck."
  131. FissionGM The ships systems don't seem to know where the ship is thanks to the ruined antennas on the top of the superstructure, and it's mainly working to restore proper ballast levels and keep the bow pointed into where the swells seem to be coming from. Both measures to prevent the ship from being capsized.
  132. Larisa_Koroleva tries to stop the ship. It shouldn't need to know where it is to do that.
  133. FissionGM Bisque, Tuuli, you both hear the ship's diesel engine relax, the noise coming through the walls and floor softening notably.
  134. Tuuli_Merisuo "Uhh, you did something?"
  135. Tuuli_Merisuo "What did you do?"
  136. Larisa_Koroleva "I stopped the ship. That's half of our job done. We still need to find the crew."
  137. FissionGM Larissa the computer comply though a warning comes up saying that stopping in the current weather conditions is dangerous as maintaining orientation will not be possible.
  138. Larisa_Koroleva keeps the laptop plugged into the computer in case she needs to use it later.
  139. Tuuli_Merisuo "So I found the engine."
  140. Tuuli_Merisuo "Gonna keep moving down a floor"
  141. Larisa_Koroleva "Right. Any more signs of the crew? Any at all? Any more bloodstains?"
  142. Larisa_Koroleva "Also, before I forget, keep an eye out for the briefcase as well."
  143. Tuuli_Merisuo "What briefcase?"
  144. Larisa_Koroleva will describe the briefcase again.
  145. Tuuli_Merisuo "Right..."
  146. FissionGM More eating and common spaces as well as a bar greet Tuuli, unlike the movie room upstairs though these rooms are mostly clean and likely were not in use when the hostiles made their presence known. The bar has a fine selection both alcoholic an non.
  147. Bisque "It should be hard for me to miss a briefcase, considering how much bigger it is to me."
  148. Tuuli_Merisuo "Well, nothing that important over here..."
  149. FissionGM The galley seems to have been in the middle of cleanup given that no food is on offer.
  150. FissionGM In the officer's mess Tuuli notices a 45. brass shell case in a corner. looking around she notices a dent in the wall next to the refrigerator at about head level. There's no blood however. The lack of blood and absent smell of cleaning agents make you think this was a warning or display of force, not a killshot.
  151. FissionGM Lilly gives Tuuli backup as they clear and search.
  152. Tuuli_Merisuo While walking through the first deck, suddenly she notices some small things that a person who would not be noticing while walking through, for Tuuli, it felt like time stopped, as she was investigating, and deciphering the shell casings and dents.
  153. Tuuli_Merisuo "They took some guys prisoners from here, dunno where, no blood in here, they surrendered without a fight apprently."
  154. Larisa_Koroleva "Right. I'm sure Il-Ved can make sure nobody sneaks up here to mess with the computer again. I'll come to join you again. If they've taken hostages then there should still be someone guarding them."
  155. Tuuli_Merisuo "Sounds good."
  156. FissionGM This doesn't seem like a case of scaring a room full of people. the shot trajectory is too needlessly close to potentially hitting someone you don't intend to. It seems more like trying to scare a particular person or small number. perhaps an interrogation?
  157. Tuuli_Merisuo "Hmm, they could've used this place for interrogation, it just doesnt make sense to fire a bullet into the wall"
  158. Tuuli_Merisuo "Usually warning shots are fired towards the roof, right?"
  159. Tuuli_Merisuo "Are you seeing this?"
  160. Lilly *nods in agreement*
  161. Larisa_Koroleva "I see it."
  162. Tuuli_Merisuo "Okay, but what would they be interrogating in here?"
  163. Tuuli_Merisuo "How to control the ship?"
  164. Tuuli_Merisuo "Also, if this is the interrogation place, the rest of the crew are not here."
  165. Bisque splits up to cover ground, since Tuuli and Lilly are probably able to handle it, and she does well on her own due to her sneakiness.
  166. Larisa_Koroleva "If I could figure that out, so could they. I'd say they were "asking" about the briefcase."
  167. Tuuli_Merisuo "Good point."
  168. FissionGM tuuli spots something small crackle to live below her, the way its bobbing and the height of it suggests someone is holding it up to their head 1 deck below you.
  169. Tuuli_Merisuo informs that the surviving crew members might be one deck below us.
  170. Tuuli_Merisuo "Lilly, lets go check this out."
  171. Larisa_Koroleva "Right. We should go check. We saw some bloodstains earlier, and they might need help."
  172. FissionGM Over the raging storm Ved hears something. The rhythmic distant slapping of blades beating the air into submission over top the whine of turbojet engines. He can't see it, be he knows it's out there. A helicopter. It's moving around, but seems to be keeping its distance, though it's hard to tell over the storm.
  173. Bisque The 'words' come across to Bisque almost immediately, and her comms crackle to life immediately afterward. "Hey, newbies. We have company. A copter of some sort. Were we expecting any allied ones so soon?"
  174. Tuuli_Merisuo "Uhh, I thought we were the only ones..."
  175. Tuuli_Merisuo "Larisa, you knwo more about this right?"
  176. Larisa_Koroleva "It shouldn't be one of ours. Bisque, can you tell Il-Ved to get out of sight? I'd rather they not see him immediately."
  177. Tuuli_Merisuo "Uhh, maybe I could make it so that helicopter doesnt get here..."
  178. Larisa_Koroleva "Can you do it without revealing our position?"
  179. Tuuli_Merisuo "If it gets too close."
  180. FissionGM Bisque catches that tail end of a conversation. "....at least sparlkes, and a dragon, one of em's that doll from TV." *squelchy voice* "right. We'll push in 5."
  181. FissionGM *At least 4 sparkles
  182. Larisa_Koroleva "Too late for that I guess. Mess them up."
  183. Tuuli_Merisuo "Although it could have the side effect of frying an integral part of the ship I dont know exists..."
  184. Tuuli_Merisuo Mass EMP tends to do that...
  185. FissionGM (if the enemy know's you are don on the same level as them yet they haven't tipped their hand.)
  186. Tuuli_Merisuo "I can control what it affects, and what it doesnt, but only things that I know that are here..."
  187. Tuuli_Merisuo "Would be too risky to use it in here."
  188. Bisque hides in the nearest safe spot she can, and whispers to the others. "They know about us, if not where we are. Be careful."
  189. Larisa_Koroleva "And we don't know what's in the briefcase. Hmm."
  190. Tuuli_Merisuo "Understood."
  191. Tuuli_Merisuo "I say we attack these guys head on, that helo is gonna bring reinforcements to em, and we dont want to have a battle going on at two sides."
  192. FissionGM "You think he's gonna make it?"
  193. Tuuli_Merisuo "We would get boxed in pretty fast."
  194. Larisa_Koroleva "We do need to take them out as quickly as possible."
  195. Larisa_Koroleva "But they might still have some of the crew members."
  196. Tuuli_Merisuo "Shit..."
  197. FissionGM Another voice from the north "Hard to say, we'll know soon enough though. Go get the others. I think it's time we get out of here and start thinking about what were gonna do with out payday."
  198. FissionGM *with our
  199. Bisque gets into as small and unnoticable a position she can in her hiding spot, expecting them to come by at any moment.
  200. FissionGM To Be Continued.
