- - Brainstorming starts
- >not having the mind of a dying Fae uploaded into some neural network to join the ancestors
- >not having the Fae clerics tap into the neural network while still living in order to recieve the ancestors' guidance
- >not having sentient AI be fragments of the ancestors put into the suit
- Then fluff it so that when they leave the neural net they leave behind what personality they once had
- And become a malleable, blank slate
- So you really arent getting a fragment of your ancestor. you are getting a blank slate
- >implying they wouldnt leave the fragment of knowledge retained within the network and have the basic "newborn" state of mind put into the suit
- And when you died your AI would be uploaded back into the neural net
- adding their collected wisdom
- etc
- Like a cycle of reincarnation.
- It's a way for the ancestors to add new experiences to the communal knowledge that would also be a rite of passage
- This time, the AI carries two souls instead of one, right?
- I like the idea.
- So you'd have a cleric organize to have a child's great-grandfather or something enter the suit as an AI to be a companion
- Maybe the sentients are souls, from the post-death transhumanism and the dummies are criminals, who were deemed useful.
- you wouldnt really want a criminal to be part of the neural network though
- they'd pollute it or something
- Perhaps that's why they called out to Elves (Humans) they need more knowledge and bodies
- I like it. Kinda shit that the AI with our suits aint gonna get to return though
- Yeah, due to a lack of clerics guiding the souls into the suits they'd have been ripped out of the network and stripped of their personality
- They wouldnt know what they are, assuming they're just AI
- That's why you'd have things like the "I AM YOUR WIFE, BILLY" happen
- Because they haven't been guided by a priest or wotev
- Sentient AI are like ancestors coming back?
- Yeah
- Ok, how they upload their data? Would it stream back?
- Yeah
- I'd assume it'd be a birth / death thing
- like baptism and cremation
- when a child's born one of their ancestors is guided into the suit, told what they originally are and give them a purpose
- when the fae dies the knowledge of the pilot and the AI soul are put into the neural network or w/e
- if the fae becomes a criminal, both the pilot and the AI have their mind wiped clean and stored as individual units of data, like 1 per HDD instead of a cloud network
- But ours, due to passing without a whiteeyes help, are separated from their Ancestors, and can't go back. Ergo, they are more human in appearance and personality.
- then the dummy AI would be uploaded from that HDD into the suit
- >digital prison
- yeah
- should i start making a fae white eye group?
- the few that remain on the ship notice a portion of their network is drained and want to reclaim their ancestors
- because what the humans do when they take a sentient AI is rip a mind from its home, painfully forcing it into a suit without the proper guidance
- what would normally be used if there was no other option, purely because the humans are too lazy to understand
- A group of fae white eyes that go out, recovering AIs and stuff?
- I don't know trap. I think we should wait.
- What if their bodies aren't naturally birthed. Instead sometimes it's a great honor for one the ancestors to upload itself to a Embryo and that embryo grows in artificial vat.
- and there would still have to be natural births
- i'd assume it'd be restricted to the higher classes
- so workers would be ancients that wanted to help
- clergy / nobles / royals / specific members of the military that proved themselves
- it'd be a great honor to bring new life
- Maybe that's why they seeded out the Progenitor Nanites, they need servants
- yeah, prog shouldnt be about servants
- the fae are above that
- they'd never force someone into servitude
- think about it, the fae are a highly advanced race where new life is an honor and the ancestors willingly give their aid to help the current generation. why would they want to force someone into servitude?
- the progenitor nanites would either be a quick-fix to the symbiote "issue" or a way for them to invite new races they meet to join them
- - Explanation for Monty
- we fluffed out AIs
- They're fae ancestors, uploaded to a fusion-like system, and then taken from there to help a member of their family, becoming part of a cycle where the old lead the young.
- the knowledge and personality is left behind in the network while the "essence" would be placed into the suit, like a newborn baby
- the way i see it, the fae would put an AI into a suit by getting a clergy member to guide the spirit peacefully, tell the spirit what it is and tell it what it's purpose is
- but the humans using the suits would be an emergency feature
- it'd essentially rip the spirit from the network and force it into the suit
- Completely unprogrammed, and ripped off the circuit
- without telling it what it is or what its purpose is
- that's why their personality is malleable
- so the suit pods are actually religious artifacts?
- no
- the spirits become data
- and the pod would download / rip the spirit from the network
- - My headcannon
- in my headcannon there's a group of fae clergy that was on the mothership and survived, now they're realizing that some of their ancestors have been taken by the humans that were too lazy to fully understand the process
- the prog nanites would be a way for the fae to make another species compatible with the spirit network or w/e the name for it is
- you'd get uploaded upon your death
- probably in a rather painful way unless you had a member of the clergy guide you
- that's why the clergy exist
- >to make the transition between half life and life bearable as well as guiding the spirits
- the lower castes would be artificial embryos with spirits placed into them
- it'd be voluntary, but considered a rite of passage among the spirits
- So if you had a spirit with 100 lifetimes it'd be honored far more than a spirit with 2 lifetimes
- like you'd have the earliest members of of the fae that were uploaded into the network be extremely rare, due to being lost in battle, etc
- and the pods would be emergency only
- as you'd have suits made specifically for a newborn in the higher caste / old recycled suit used for the workers
- i thought workers didn't get fightan suits
- they wouldnt be
- they'd be old as shit exoskeletons that are replaced when they break
- so... 100 point suits?
- and pretty much, knight
- lower caste (workers, military grunts, etc) members would have genetically engineered bodies that were incapable of reproducing
- higher class members would all be naturally born, having your genetics changed would be like having bad eyesight
- the only intervention in the process of birth would be a brain implant and an AI attuned to them
- as a fae child grows up they have a suit created for them when they are able to walk by themselves which would be upgraded through the years. the suit would represent their accomplishments / learning experiences via sigils, materials, emblems, seals, etc
- So when a fae noble is in a position of leadership they don't need to spew loads of shit they've done, just wear the suit
- that's why they're status symbols
- a suit represents power and if you have the luxury of wearing a suit since childhood you're assumed to be powerful
- they wouldnt be as weaponized, more about style
- so exposed faces (as we've gone over previously), armor designed to emphasize accomplishments they're proud of, ceremonial weapon, etc
- but the exchange for the power the highest castes get in life is that they must spend more time aiding the newborn in the afterlife
- they're expected to take on the role of AIs or laborers until their "debt" to the ancients is paid
- Because they were able to live their life thanks to the ancients
- the actual highest class (royalty) would probably have VERY thin, translucent skin
- upon which they'd get tattoos to make their vein patterns / scars / etc more visible
- yeah, the vein patterns would show off the natural birth
- the nobility's life is about posturing and trying to gain new land for the future generations
