  37. Rome isn't build in a day, and anime aren't drawn in a week. Production for an 1-cour anime usually starts over a year before airing, and for some studios (see SHAFT) continue until the night of broadcast.

  45. Gathering my notes together is taking a lot longer than I expected, so here's a cliff-notes version of Madoka Magica (2011) production timeline instead:
  46. 2008 - Casual conversation about an original magical girl show between Iwakamiand Shinbo become serious
  47. October, 2008 - Initial Meeting between what would become the Magica Quartet - Shinbo, Iwakami, Gen, Ume; series keyword and visual design determined inplanning memo;
  48. October, 2008 - Aoki Ume finished character design - 1st draft for the 5 heroines
  49. December(?), 2008 - Composition Meeting of Magica Quartet to review Gen's Series Proposal ; accepted with adjustments (13->12 episode and etc)
  50. end of 2008 to end of 2009 - Gen writes Initial Draft of the script at one-episode-a-month pace; temporary title "Mahou Shoujo Apocalypse"
  51. 2009 - Aoki Ume finished character design - 2nd draft, adding Kyubey, Hitomi, Kyousuke, and other side characters.
