  7. [08:21:37] <Swept_Wing> The scene is set in the briefing room as late afternoon fell over Moosecow. Already gathered was Swept_Wing and 20/20, who stood up at the front of the room. Also in the room already was Golden Star, Dark Cloud, Streak, and Light Dawn.
  8. [08:24:19] * Spike_Strip is also already in the briefing room, the large earth pony stallion (http://i.imgur.com/NTPeWIG.png) wearing a spikey and chained set of riot armor adorned with the DCR's insignia and the butter bars of a 2nd lieutenant.
  9. [08:24:42] <+Contrail> Entering the room nearly on time was a stallion in Enclave armour, sans-helmet. A pair of crude cloud contrails were painted on the flankes of the armour, and he wore white cloth bands around the hooves, as well as a DCR badge on a string. Behind him is Midnight Runner, a cigarette hanging from his lips. They both settle into chairs, ready to go.
  10. [08:26:11] <Swept_Wing> Proverb enters the briefing room in her full gear, sans VKS. She looks almost exactly like the stallion in the Enclave armour, save that she was a lot smaller than he was.
  11. [08:27:36] * Spike_Strip nods to Contrail, Midnight, and Proverb as they enter, as well as to the various other DCR troops that filter in before, with, and after them, but says nothing.
  12. [08:27:41] * Adagio http://i.imgur.com/gqL0N.png trots into the briefing room, her armor and weapons clean and well maintained, her helm hangs from the left shoulder plate of her gear and she settles onto a seat.
  13. [08:28:25] <+Contrail> Midnight nods in greeting to both Proverb and Adagio, the only two he recognizes. Contrail for his part drops a hoof over Proverb and gave her a quick little hug before letting her go.
  14. [08:28:49] * Spike_Strip nods to Adagio as well! And speaking of weapons, he has a displacer hoof on one foreleg while the other three have powerhooves.
  15. [08:29:02] <Swept_Wing> Proverb blushes ever so slightly, taking a seat next to Adagio.
  16. [08:30:42] * Adagio smiles and nods politely to Midnight before turning and nodding to Spike_Strip as well as the rest of the officers present, she turns and whispers to Proverb, "That your special somepony Sarge?"
  17. [08:31:26] <Swept_Wing> Proverb meeps, blushing hotter. "He's my dad..."
  18. [08:32:13] * Spike_Strip smirks at Adagio and Proverb before looking around the room as the last of the redsh- I mean soldiers file in and take their seats.
  19. [08:32:34] * Adagio chuckles, "Well now, don't I feel awkward."
  20. [08:32:41] * Swept_Wing nods to the ponies as they enter, waiting until all had taken their seats before beginning. "Now, I know a few of you were on the op a few weeks ago to recover the Vertibucks." He says. "And as we discovered, there's a big ol' Raptor just sitting up above Seaddle."

  24. [08:36:56] * Swept_Wing nods to 20, who produces an aerial map of the city of Seaddle on the wall behind Swept, who indicates a highlighted area on the southwest side of the city. "Said Raptor is hovering here, and as far as we can tell, immobile."
  25. [08:37:36] * Contrail holds up a hoof. "Immobile, or immobil/ized/?" he asked.
  26. [08:39:06] <Swept_Wing> "Immobile. From what recon has gathered its engines are still fully functional, it's just not moving."
  27. [08:39:44] * Contrail nods but says nothing. It's clear he's thinking about something for the time being.
  28. [08:40:51] * Spike_Strip watches Contrail for a moment before looking back to Swept_Wing.
  29. [08:41:57] * Swept_Wing continues. "Now, as for why it's not moving, our intelligence is pointing towards a single pegasi keeping the rest of the crew from either giving up or leaving. All radio traffic in and out of the Raptor is blocked, and it's completely locked down."
  30. [08:44:32] <+Contrail> "Giving up or leaving?" Midnight asked, blinking. "There is mutiny?" Months back in his hometown had given him his accent back, which added to his broken Equestrian.
  31. [08:46:39] * Adagio listens to the back and forth and silently wishes for a stealth cloak, trot in there end one life gain raptor and crew, problem solved.
  32. [08:46:48] * Swept_Wing nods. "We think so. A small group of Enclave Loyalists is suspected to be holding the rest of the ship pretty much hostage." He says. "Now, Staff Sergeant Streak and Corporal Light Dawn both have significant experience with Raptors from during the war."
  33. [08:47:25] * Keiru ([email protected]) Quit (Quit: )
  34. [08:48:18] * Contrail blinks. "We need to do this with minimum bloodshed, then," he said quietly, considering it. "You say their radio's been cut off? How long have you known about her?"
  35. [08:50:02] * Swept_Wing nods to Contrail. "We've known about this Raptor for a month, ever since we went and got those Verts."
  36. [08:50:12] * Swept_Wing gestures to the next chart, which is the interior layout of a Raptor. "We're dealing with a Class B Raptor here. They're outfitted for hit and run, which means a smaller crew."
  37. [08:51:11] <+Contrail> "A month..." Contrail said softly. "Permission to speak later, LT. Continue."
  38. [08:53:27] * Swept_Wing nods to Contrail before continuing. "We've located a spot along the top deck of the Raptor where there's an access hatch with exterior controls. In order to keep the element of surprise, we'll be doing a HALO jump onto this point from 30,000 feet."
  39. [08:57:47] <Swept_Wing> "From there, it's a simple task of sneaking up to the flight deck, located here at the other end of the Raptor. One of my pilots, Streak, and will be accompanying the entry team, as she knows her way around a Raptor."
  40. [09:00:26] <Swept_Wing> "The objective here is to remove the ship's Captain and any other pegasi supporting him. Capture is preferred in this case, but you're authorized to kill him if needed." He nods to Spike_Strip. "Lieutenant, I believe you have the exact details of how we're taking this guy down."
  41. [09:06:07] * Spike_Strip nods to Swept_Wing. "As exact as we can get, at least." He takes a step forward and looks out over the room. "Myself, Reaper, and Hunter elements will be making our way to the bridge." He taps the bridge on the diagram. "Even if the captain isn't there, holding the bridge means we hold the ship. Outlaw, Outrider, and Vandal will make their way to the armory, here, and the engine room,...
  42. [09:06:09] * Spike_Strip ...here." More tapping. "If all goes according to plan, we want to take this Raptor. If we can't, Vandal is to sabotage and scuttle it before we pull out. One way or another, this Raptor isn't going to be against us anytime soon."

  47. [09:08:01] * Contrail nods. "The engine room can, with proper authorization, scuttle the ship. Granted, it kills the clouds and thus the whole thing drops, so a last resoort I'd say. Do we have any estimate on numbers, for both sides? Loyalist and possible defectors?"

Steel 5 will be running fire support in case things get a bit crazy." He says, before looking to Contrail. "The exact division amongst the crew is unknown, but there are about 150 aboard total."
  54. [09:12:41] * Contrail nods. He waits for his part of the briefing. Midnight crushes out his cigarette. "And for earth ponies in audience? Or should I be stepping off this Op?"
  55. [09:13:52] * Spike_Strip is very much an earth pony.
  56. [09:14:19] * Swept_Wing chuckles. "The interiors are solid Midnight."
  57. [09:15:09] <+Contrail> Midnight chuckles. "I know, I have been on Vertibuck. In case of need to scuttle though, I am assuming the Verts won't be able to be of much assistance, given guns on Raptor. I uh... also have never made jump from Vert. Or anywhere."

  59. [09:16:14] * Adagio looks at Midnight, "Don't worry Midnight, if something goes wrong I'll catch ya."
  60. [09:16:42] * Swept_Wing chuckles. "The gun on a Raptor are for larger targets. A Vertibuck is too nimble for them to hit."
  61. [09:17:46] * Contrail chuckled. "True, but depending on how many they've got, they may run interdiction on us as we come in. So no relaxing until we're inside, ponyfolk." Midnight looked to Adagio and nodded. "Spasiba."
  62. [09:19:24] * Spike_Strip glances at Swept_Wing, then looks out along the room again. "For those of us without wings, we'll be wearing a second chute. Worse comes to worse and we have to scuttle, go for another jump. Vandal won't blow the thing until we're all outside."
  63. [09:21:34] * Swept_Wing nods. "The only problem we'll encounter is if we get too close along the top. They've got

  65. [09:22:10] <Swept_Wing> dual-mounted 30mms for close-range support up there."
  66. [09:23:42] * Adagio looks at the assembled officers and raises a hoof.
  67. [09:23:56] * Swept_Wing nods to Adagio. "Yes Corporal?"
  68. [09:26:20] * Adagio lowers her hoof, "I don't know about everyone else," she looks around the room, "But I, for one, am worried about those guns, are we going to take them out before we jump? Or are we going to trust that the Enclave loyalists don't have control of those systems?"
  69. [09:29:29] * Swept_Wing nods. "Well, if we do take them out then we loose the element of surprise."
  70. [09:30:48] * Contrail looks over the Raptor blueprints. "Been a while since I saw a Raptor-class up close. There any blindspots to exploit? A crack to slip in?"
  71. [09:31:43] * Spike_Strip turns and studies the raptor blueprint, hmming.
  72. [09:33:41] * Swept_Wing nods. "Coming in from behind the engines there is. Can't see a damn thing behind them."
  73. [09:35:40] * Spike_Strip nods and points to the upper rear portion of the blueprint. "Come in from as behind as we can, land on the runway. Should be doable. That plus them not expecting us coming should keep those guns off us."
  74. [09:36:52] * Adagio nods, "You'll forgive my concerns, I've never actually seen one up close and my knowledge of their abilities is slim at best."
  75. [09:37:44] * Contrail looked over at Adagio. "They're the smaller of the ships, if you can believe it. If this was a Thunderhead, I'd've told you to blast her engines off and pray."
  76. [09:38:59] * Spike_Strip chuckles at Adagio. "They're good concerns. Keep those ideas coming."
  77. [09:39:27] * Swept_Wing chuckles a bit. "And I'm afraid that's a bit out of even my capabilites." He nods to Contrail. "I believe you wanted to say something yes?"
  78. [09:40:44] * Contrail nodded. He stood up. "Right. My name is Contrail, and at one time was Chief Warrant Officer Contrail. I was an Enclave officer, hence the getup. Memorize the painted cutie mark please, I don't want any friendly fire." He looked at the blueprints. "From what i understand, this is a fun, relatively unique opportunity." -c-
  79. [09:41:51] <+Contrail> "We can capture a Raptor, and a number of additional pilots, mechanics and various other crewmembers. But hey, you all know that. I just want to see if I can get access to the bridge and the shi's intercom. I may be able to convert some troops to our side. At the very least, I can open doors and get you access throughout the ship, given their codes haven't changed in a month."

"Remember: We want to capture this thing and a lot of the crew might join us if given the chance. Don't put yourselves at risk, but avoid killing anyone if you can. Get the drop on them, force them to surrender, knock them out... whatever. Lethal force only if absolutely necessary. Understood?"

  88. [09:49:13] * Contrail nods to himself. "Remember that despite the stories, not all Enclave are bad. We're force-fed propaganda from day one. The Loyalists will fight to the death. The others will likely give in. Treat them all with the utmost respect, please. And please, don't shoot me in the ass," he reminded them, pointing to the painted contrails on his flank. "The white bands and the DCR badge won't be present on the op."
  89. [09:50:45] * Swept_Wing clops his hooves together, nodding to Contrail. "Well, if there's no more questions, then I think that wraps everything up." He says, looking around.
  90. [09:56:11] <Swept_Wing> "None? Then you're all dismissed. Meet in the hangars in 30 minutes."
  91. [09:57:45] * Adagio stands and stretches a bit, "Be good to stretch the wings again."
  92. [09:57:49] <@Spike_Strip> The various soldiers around the room nod to Spike and reply, "Yes, sir." Then nod to Swept_Wing and get to their hooves to make their way to the exit and prep their gear for the mission.
  93. [09:58:26] * Swept_Wing heads with 20, Dark, Golden, Streak, and Dawn for the hangars.
  94. [09:59:11] <Swept_Wing> Proverb stands up with Adagio, nodding and adjusting her eyepatch.
  95. [09:59:30] <+Contrail> Midnight leaves, and Contrail looks at Proverb. "Doing alright, kiddo?"
  96. [10:00:04] <Swept_Wing> Proverb nods to Contrail. "I'll be fine Dad."
  97. [10:01:20] * Contrail nods and gives her a little hug. "This is the first time I actually get to see you in combat. Youngest Master Sergeant in the Enclave? Let's see why they gave you that rank, huh?" he teased, looking over at Adagio. They'd never met, but he knew that Proverb was involved with a zebra of sorts... "This your marefriend, Provy?"
  98. [10:02:35] <Swept_Wing> Proverb shakes her head. "N-No! This is Corporal Adagio, we're just friends."
  99. [10:03:05] * Adagio chuckles and steps out the door, "Nope, though I doubt Frost or Snowshoe would mind." she grins at Proverb, "See ya in thirty Sarge."
  100. [10:03:17] <Swept_Wing> Proverb squeaks.
  101. [10:03:20] * Contrail blinks. "Oh, so the zebra is your coltfriend? I can't remember. Pleasure to meet you in any case, Corporal." He followed after the others to the hangar.

  105. [10:06:37] * Contrail looks over at Adagio and smiled. "You and me both. I left soon as it was convenient, just in time too. They attempted a forced retirement on me." He looked at Proverb and laughed. "I'm just /kidding/. You give me a magic Tavern full of drinks and who knows? Maybe I misheard you. Maybe it was somepony else, hell, I dunno."
  106. [10:08:03] <Swept_Wing> Provy giggles. "You've met Spirit before Dad, remember?" She says, before trotting for the door herself. "Now let's gooooo."
  107. [10:08:11] * Spike_Strip checks over his weapons and armor and digs through his bags, making sure he has all his supplies.
  108. [10:09:24] * Contrail chuckled. "Have I? Can't remember." It's now become his personal mission to tease his daughter until the drop. He's all geared up, with his last actions being taking off the white bands and the DCR badge. Midnight is smoking near his Vert, checking his mags to ensure they were all filled with AP ammunition.
  109. [10:14:01] <Swept_Wing> Proverb is also all ready to go, waiting next to the Verts with Contrail.
  110. [10:14:55] * Spike_Strip trots up to the verts and looks around. "If everyone's ready, lets load up and move out."
  111. [10:16:08] * Swept_Wing sticks his head out of his Vert. "Lock and load bucks, it's showtime!" He calls, before heading back into the cockpit and strapping in.
  112. [10:17:14] * Contrail and Midnight_Runner step aboard their respective verts. Contrail looks around and laughs softly as he straps in. "Oh, this brings me back."
  113. [10:17:23] * Spike_Strip climbs into his designated vertibuck and straps in.
  114. [10:17:41] <@Spike_Strip> The cannon fo- troops do as well.
  115. [10:17:58] <Swept_Wing> Proverb ends up right next to Contrail in Swept's Vert.
  116. [10:19:24] * Contrail looks over at Proverb. "Got everything? Ammunition, weapons? Water? Did you bring some food along, sandwiches? Oh and uh, did you head to the bathroom? No chance on route, honey," he teased.
  117. [10:20:30] <Swept_Wing> Proverb sinks into her seat, blushing hotly. "Yes dad..."
  118. [10:26:13] * Adagio smiles at Proverb and Contrail, "Wow Sarge, I kinda envy you." she straps in, "You can at least still be embarrassed by your folks."
  119. [10:26:52] * Contrail grinned at Adagio. "It's great, it really is," he said.
