- Description: Hayward, a convicted killer who was out on parole for the 1988 machine-gun slaying of Sebien DeRoche, shot Daniel in the chest and thigh with a .22 pistol. Daniel managed to shoot Hayward in the left hand and run to safety, but died soon after from internal bleeding.
