  2. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: Time to march west once more!
  3. What new and exciting things will whip Samuel into submisssion this week?
  4. Wizzzargh (GM): If they're actually dangerous he'll probably triumph
  5. If they're feeble and harmless, he'll be doomed
  6. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: Hopefully we'll find the hand grenades, this week. Although, the barrel bombs, Nephil cutter, and a matchstick spell will probably serve admirably, to kill those giants and claim the wealth of Janus.
  7. Wizzzargh (GM): Oh, were you planning on going back to Oroboro instead of just sticking around in Kabuli for easier exploration?
  8. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: Hell no. The Oubilletes are a long term goal. As far as I can tell, they contain no less than four giants, a cleric/vampire, a 1000 HP lvl 20 cleric, and various armor clad, spell wielding, magic item bearing lackeys. That seem like a mission that shouldn't be taken lightly.
  9. Plus, I'm still broke. One thousand gold doesn't go far for funding combat sessions.
  10. Wizzzargh (GM): Right, I saw 'this week' and applied it to the latter sentence as well
  11. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: U still around?
  12. Wizzzargh (GM): In theory
  13. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: I'd like to wander around solo, since Ni'len doesn't seem to be showing up.
  14. What was the name of that horrifying thing that sings to become invisible? Hydra was in the name.
  15. Ni'Len: Finaly got on did ya
  16. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: I've been around!
  17. Ni'Len: I see that...
  18. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: Game time at last! Wandering aimlessly is what's on the menu.
  19. Ni'Len: It has been like... ten hours since you said you would be on in like 6.
  20. Wizzzargh (GM): we only sat forlornly in this chat for liek 1 tho
  21. Ni'Len: Oi.
  22. Ya should told meh
  23. I was on for like half an hour earlier.
  24. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: I neglected to ping.
  25. Ni'Len: I am worried about ya Chuck
  26. Haven't been yourself recently
  27. Wizzzargh (GM): Wading through the housing market changes a man...
  28. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: RL is doing it's best to make me into a respectable, upstanding citizen. I can only resist so long.
  29. Until then, DND!
  30. Wizzzargh (GM): So the wizards are off doing wizard things
  31. Fortunately, Samuel has discovered Bers sitting on a road crosslegged, sword across knees, as is her fashion
  32. Ni'Len: As is her fashion
  33. Charles P. -(Samuel)- halts his horse on the road
  34. To the east of the tiny, dusty village is the emerald desert. To the north, the steppes of the horse nomads and an overgrown road leading back to Oroboro lands.
  35. Wizzzargh (GM): The Northwest are downslope from both the steppes and the village, and a ghastly marsh by all accounts, a brick road leads west to the capitol of this foreign land, and the south and south-west have hills.
  36. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: "Bers?"
  37. Samuel: *
  38. Bers: "Who?"
  39. Samuel: Oh right, Bers doesn't have a name.
  40. "You?"*
  41. Bers: "Yes?"
  42. Samuel: "Watcha doin?"
  43. Bers: "Waiting."
  44. Samuel: "Well, your prayers are answered! I have arrived."
  45. Samuel chuckles
  46. Bers: "I am awaiting the other half."
  47. Samuel: "I'm not ready for that kind of commitment. I still mourn for Ayrani."
  48. Bers: "So do we both."
  49. Samuel: "Perhaps a rousing fight will help!"
  50. Bers: "I don't having something to offer, Mistress."
  51. Samuel: "I was going to follow this road, but with y- did you...?"
  52. "Did you just call me mistress?"
  53. Bers: "No."
  54. Samuel: "...well... Good."
  55. "Let's go tramp through some swamps."
  56. Samuel jerks a thumb in the direction of a marsh
  57. Bers: "Whats the point?"
  58. Samuel: "It's got wisemen and sorcerors."
  59. "We can philosiphisize with the wisemen."
  60. Bers: "Any what do they no? Not about nothing... that is for truth."
  61. Samuel: "They might know something. The sorceror's spellbook's will sell for big bucks, too."
  62. Wizzzargh (GM): The donkley and cart should be left behind if it's swump time
  63. Samuel leaves the donkey and cart behind, bc it's swamp time
  64. Wizzzargh (GM): 1
  65. Samuel: (Was that role to detsrmine wether we meet a wiseman or a sorceror?)
  66. Leaving the road out of the small village behind, you descend into acrid-smelling lowlands. Short, stunty trees make patchy groves in the areas of land neither too wet nor too dry, and you can see a large black lake a mile or so away.
  67. Samuel: "That looks absolutely foul."
  68. Wizzzargh (GM): (To GM) rolling 2d6

  75. Samuel: "I can't imagine why a wiseman would live out here."
  76. "It's too bad I never got to meet that swordmaster in Ebeth."
  77. Bers: "sword master?
  78. Samuel: "Yeah."j
  79. Bers: "We should go to them."
  80. "Did you hear of their price for training?"
  81. Samuel: "I never met the guy."
  82. As you discuss the never-met swordmaster of Ebeth, you get a better look at the lake- it's not water, but some bubbling black gunk, the smell like burnt oil but worse. You spy some goats wandering on the far shore. It seems you'll have to navigate north or south to bypass this feature- you can see hills to the south, and more lowland swamp north.
  83. Samuel tramps north, keeping an eye out for dwellings and sorcerors
  84. Wizzzargh (GM): (To GM) rolling 1d2

  96. Bers: "Think it will burn?"
  97. Samuel: "No."
  98. Wizzzargh (GM): Speaking of burning, I should remind Sam that he has no oil- 5 flasks were needed to burn that plant last session while you were afk
  99. Samuel: Bummer.
  100. Wizzzargh (GM): You head north through the dreary swamp, and come to a curious sight- a series of vandalized signs.
  101. Bers can't see shit
  102. Wizzzargh (GM): True that, so sam spot's em before Bers
  103. Bers: are they painted or are they engraved?
  104. Wizzzargh (GM): Splintered wood signs, with tarry messages painted on. The thick tar used for the paint dribbles down chunkily.
  105. Bers: k so i should be able to kinda read 'em
  106. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: You can't read!
  107. There are two varieties- one reading "Eastmost Domain of the Lord of Ooze"
  108. Wizzzargh (GM): or "West Kingdom of the Blob King." Currently only one sign is standing, a 'Blob King' one.
  109. Samuel: "Apparently there's a territorial dispute."
  110. Wizzzargh (GM): The others broken and slowly vanishing into the ooze, at varying levels of decay.
  111. Bers: if it is blobby i might be able to
  112. I know the shape of things
  113. Samuel keeps heading north
  114. Wizzzargh (GM): Bers probably reads it as W.st k,,gd.. o..th. Bl.b ...g
  115. Bers: "This sign is useless it has no words on it."
  116. Sticking north as best you can, you seem to be leaving behind the swamps... though you can see they continue to the northeast, still. Runoff from the high steppes to the west has created a badlands area of deep ravines and silty hills to your immediate north.
  117. Samuel circles the lake, he wants to catch a goat.
  118. Wizzzargh (GM): Turning back southwest to circle round the lake then. You find an old stone structure of two stories, half-sunken into a pond of tar that is connected to the lake on your way there.
  119. Bers: "Why are we here?"
  120. Samuel: "To find philosophers."
  121. Bers: "I thought they were in the swamp...?"
  122. Samuel: "HELLLOOOOO??? IS ANYONE HOME?"
  123. "This is the swamp still."
  124. Wizzzargh (GM): An absolutely filthy fellow pokes his head out the top.
  125. Bers: "It doesn't feel as a swamp should in my mind..."
  126. Filthy Fellow: Oh? Come to buy charcoal?
  127. It's certainly drier than the last swamp you were in, climate-wise.
  128. Bers: "No..?"
  129. Samuel: "Not really, no."
  130. Filthy Fellow: Oh...
  131. You aren't worried about those signs are you?
  132. Bers: "I am."
  133. Filthy Fellow: Those are just my kids, having a laff, playing at a ghost story they heard about the far, far north swamp.
  134. Bers: "They were useless... Didn't seem to have any decernable words on them..Did you write them?"
  135. "Oh... children?"
  136. Filthy Fellow: Yeah, the swamps aren't as bad as people make 'em out to be. Tax free, too!
  137. He cackles.
  138. Filthy Fellow: Well, I can sell directions as well as charcoal if you're lost.
  139. Samuel: "Perhaps if you can point us towards what we seek."
  140. Bers: "Do you have anything else for sale?"
  141. Filthy Fellow: Info and charcoal's all I got.
  142. Bers: "Shame."
  143. Samuel: "I heard there was a sage living in the swamp."
  144. Filthy Fellow: Mmm. There's some further north, certainly, but if you're talking about who I think you're talking about, they've since moved to the hills nearby. I could show you the way for, oh, a week's rations? Or... he counts on his tar-stained fingers 5 gold, if you're rich in metal but not in food, like most folks these days.
  145. Bers: "I have wine,..."
  146. Samuel: "I have food."
  147. Filthy Fellow: Wine! Thousand blessings...
  148. Bers: "That is quite a lot."
  149. Filthy Fellow: ...But between the two, I better take the food. Growing children, you know.
  150. Samuel divests himself of some food
  151. After you are directed to place the food on a nearby stump, the filthy fellow runs across the tar-pond his structure lies in, wearing huge flat wooden planks on his feet.
  152. Filthy Fellow: Call me Nasir. Lemme get these tar-ski's off and I'll lead the way...
  153. Bers: "Tarsky?"
  154. Nasir: Strap some wood, about shield sized, to your feet and you can run across the tar without sinking. So long as you don't stop...
  155. Bers: "What reason is there to stop?"
  156. Nasir: No reason at all, unless you want to get sucked down into a tar-bog.
  157. It'll be dark soon, so let's get going.
  158. He breaks off a branch from a nearby shrubby tree and dips it in the lake as you walk."Free Torch!" he explains.
  159. Bers: "Sorry... is it a bog? or is it a fen?"
  160. Wizzzargh (GM): You pass the herd of goats as you head southwest. Nasir calls to them, and they ignore him. "Damn critters are right ornery these days..." he mutters.
  161. Nasir: I dunno, what's the difference? He scratches his head.
  162. Bers: "Well... swamps are not bogs usually... bogs have poor soil... and can't really support plant life.."
  163. Nasir: I suppose you can't see for yourself, eh?
  164. There's not much here but gross moss and stunty trees, and barely enough are alive to feed a few goats. So... bog.
  165. I hear it's nicer away from the tar-pit though, so that might be a swamp...
  166. Bers: "My friend here... his wife was my friend...before she died... he leads me on his adventures.."
  167. Nasir: My wife died too. I'm sorry for your loss.. but they always say the underworld is a quiet place.
  168. Bers: "People aren't getting to where they belong..."
  169. Wizzzargh (GM): Muffled howling from the hell of isfrix
  170. Samuel: "She is tortured eternally in the hell of Isfrix, as far as the priests can tell me. We were betrothed, but never married."
  171. Nasir: A thousand hopes for the overthrow of Isfrix, then. This Isfrix sounds as grim as Arrkohn. he spits over his shoulder
  172. One more reason to stay alive then, eh? Ah, up we go-
  173. You are heading uphill as the sun goes down.
  174. Nasir: And... yup, there he is. See that campfire, twinkling on yon hill? That's gotta be him- the hills here are so dry, I've never even heard of bandits camping out here.
  175. Samuel: "Thank you for the directions. I think we can part ways here."
  176. Nasir thanks you for the food and heads back to the swamp.
  177. Samuel: "Let's go talk with a sage."
  178. "I've had nothing but priests to speak to, and they all start to sound the same, after a while."
  179. You advance to the fire to find a grizzled old man with skin like wrinkled leather and only one eye, clad in nothing but a turban and loincloth. A jar of eyeballs is at his side, and he turns to you, starting to speak...
  180. Bers: "Sorry."
  181. Then he squints at you both and waves a hand dismissively. "Two seekers of wisdom with only a single eye between them... you'd not wager it for the world, I suppose."
  182. Samuel: "Well, for the world, yes."
  183. He cackles at that.
  184. Bers: "Sir,... I have wagered two for it already."
  185. "What is a third?"
  186. Samuel: "A third is mine, is what!"
  187. Bers: "A cost I am most willing to pay. "
  188. Bers smiles devilishly
  189. The old man slaps his knee and howls with wheezy laughter at that.
  190. Samuel: "Well then, I guess my friend here will be accepting your offer of knowledge."
  191. Old Sage: Wicked jokes aside, I offer a spell if you can solve 3 riddles... with an eye as payment should you fail.
  192. Wizzzargh (GM): Neither of you seem much like sorcerers though, so perhaps we can strike a less eldritch bargain for less eldritch knowledge.
  193. Bers: "What prices might you accept?"
  194. Old Sage: Hmmm hmm... He opens his jar of eyeballs, selects an off-color pale green one, and pops it into a socket with a wet splortch, and regards you both.
  195. Samuel: "That's a fine trick."
  196. Old Sage: Losing my eye to that damn bird wasn't all bad, I have to admit.
  197. Samuel: "A cat got mine. The woman cut her own eyes out. With a spoon, if you give credit to rumors."
  198. Old Sage: Musta been a big cat.
  199. And a sharp spoon...
  200. Bers: "It was dull... No point in making it easy."
  201. Old Sage: Yet the pain I see is from losing someone who wasn't yourself....
  202. As for you, foreign king, you're far from your duties. Hmm, hmm, perhaps I could offer a tidbit of information that would help you both out.
  203. Bers: "It is harder for me to let go than i wish... yes."
  204. Samuel sobers up finally, and watches Bers and the sage
  205. Samuel: "Please do."
  206. Old Sage: There is an archway of stone, adorned with 6 brass rings, on the edge of the desert south of Kabuli. It was constructed by a foreign king who wore that crown a few lifetimes ago.
  207. If you knew the right arrangement of the rings, you could step between here and Oroboro with ease.
  208. And it could lead to other places as well... look to the silver sword. It is a key to what you have lost, eyeless one.
  209. In recompense, why not bring someone who might care to riddle with me some time? Hee hee!
  210. You may not see me, but I'll see you...
  211. Samuel takes a few moments to absorb all that
  212. The old sage fades away till all you can see is a twinkle in his eye, and then the twinkle is just a star. The campfire is cold and dead.
  213. Bers: ....
  214. DAMNIT
  215. OMNI as soon as he starts ta fade
  216. fucuuuck
  217. Samuel: "We should find Kabuli."
  218. Wizzzargh (GM): He had about 20 eyeballs in his jar, and did indeed seem to vanish physically. Seemed like a human though, Bers.
  219. Kabuli is that first tiny village, but it's night so it may be time to camp, here or otherwise.
  220. Bers: brb
  221. Samuel: Sure, we can camp out here. We'll just have to re light the campfire.
  222. Wizzzargh (GM): watches?
  223. Samuel: Does Bers even sleep?
  224. Wizzzargh (GM): For now...
  225. Samuel: I'll take first and third, she can have second and fourth.
  226. Wizzzargh (GM): only 3 watches in a night
  227. (To GM) rolling 3d6

  235. = 12
  236. On third watch...
  237. Samuel: We'll have to add an extra, since we're staying up for two watches each. So fourth will just be me dozing during the day.
  238. Bers: hmm
  239. Wizzzargh (GM): Fair nuff, though you could save yourself a lot of armor donning if you did say, 1st and second and then 3rf and 4th
  240. Samuel: That works too.
  241. Bers takes 3rf
  242. Bers becomes aware of a cold spot around Samuel as he dozes.
  243. Bers: ....More on that?
  244. The sound of bells.
  245. Samuel dies
  246. But no physical presence, it would seem. And sam seems fine.
  247. Bers observes but speaks not on it nor bothers him
  248. Bers stares into the fire
  249. Wizzzargh (GM): Reminds you of the good ol days of Pimp lighting himself on fire with reckless abandon
  250. A bit of sleeping in late to compensate for the hashed up watches, and you're ready to go the next day in the morning.
  251. Bers: nothing odd when i am sleeping?
  252. Samuel heads for Kabuli
  253. Wizzzargh (GM): Not tonight.
  254. Gonna backtrack the way you came, or try to head straight there?
  255. Bers: ....
  256. Ni'Len: Personally I find that more worrying
  257. Samuel: I gotta pick up the donkey.
  258. Wizzzargh (GM): That was left in Kabuli I believe- I wasn't imagining you were far from the place when you found Bers
  259. Samuel: Oh. Straight there, then.
  260. You figure if you go south around the oil lake...
  261. Wizzzargh (GM): 1
  262. You end up going more south than you intended as 'just one more hill and we'll see the path' becomes like 6 more hills, but you stumble across the brick road that allegedly leads to Phavea, the capital of this land.
  263. Wizzzargh (GM): And back to Kabuli, more relevantly here

  273. Samuel: Teleportation time! Bers gets a new superpower, and I get... to go back to Oroboro :(
  274. Wizzzargh (GM): You pass the ashen remains of the plant-monster, but following the road back proves uneventful.
  275. You could start exploring south for this gate immediately and almost certainly spend a night outside again, or you could spend the rest of the day and night in the safety of the village (and give Bers an extra downtime opportunity should you wish)
  276. Samuel: Hey Ni'len. Wanna waste a downtime on teaching me blind fighting?
  277. I think it would be faster for me to just get into an actual fight while blind, with Bers around to help out.
  278. Bers: Aight
  279. Wizzzargh (GM): A day spent training samuel in blindfighting- he's down to -3, then
  280. Then, the next day, you begin the search south! The road curves westward, so you leave it behind after an hour and begin trodding along the edge of the Emerald desert. The sands ahead are white and very sparkly.

  304. Bers: "Do you miss her?"
  305. Samuel doesn't answer immediately
  306. Samuel: "No."
  307. Bers: "Oh."
  308. Samuel: "People die. I won't look back."
  309. Bers: "yeah."
  310. "Me too."
  311. Samuel scoops up a pocketful of the white sands
  312. Wizzzargh (GM): It irritates your flesh.
  313. Closer examination makes the sands look like tiny gems... or more like, shards of glass.
  314. Ni'Len: "i hate sand... it gets everywhere"
  315. Samuel drops the stuff.
  316. Wizzzargh (GM): Coarse, irritating, etc etc...
  317. Samuel: "This is not normal sand."
  318. Bers: "No?"
  319. Wizzzargh (GM): Traveling through this part of the desert will drain 1hp per hour due to chafing... but it's definitely south of Kabuli...
  320. Samuel empties his purse into a pocket and fills it with sand.
  321. Bers: "Should we even open this portal?"
  322. Samuel: "This stuff is sharp, like broken glass. It would make a potent poison."
  323. Samuel covers his mouth and nose.
  324. Samuel: "Of course we should open the portal. I seek something, but I do not know where it is, or even what it is. So I seek it with no plan."
  325. "We must go forth, uncaring and uncalculating, to meet the unkown."
  326. Bers sighs
  327. Bers: "A portal out here to Oroboro instantly.."
  328. "Think of your enemies."
  329. Samuel: "It leads to Oroboro, with the right key. But the wrong key?"
  330. "Hmph! My enemies aren't what I fear. If all I cared about was my enemies, I'd face them with blade in hand."
  331. Samuel draws one of his four blades, and points it into the sky, to illustrate his point.
  332. Bers: four blades?
  333. Wizzzargh (GM): You're a bad influence on people bers
  334. Bers: Obvs
  335. Samuel: Five if you count the knife.
  336. Bers: Damn how did I miss enough sessions for him to go from one to five
  337. Samuel: I always had the first three.
  338. Bers: I only remember the one
  339. Samuel: Greatsword, longsword, and a knife.
  340. Bers: aight
  341. well hopefully you can use 'em this session
  342. Samuel: Nah. I'd rather just find an unguarded dragons hoard.
  343. You pass through the glass desert. Certain joints will have to be thoroughly scrubbed to remove the glass that snuck through the cracks in your clothing/armor -2 hp each.
  344. In the distance to the southwest, you can see a great shining mountain- covered in snow, perhaps? The sand is back to normal, thankfully.
  345. It is hot and uncomfortable- were it summer, you don't think plate armor would be wearable out here- or at least, not without plenty of breaks and fan-wielding hirelings.
  346. Samuel: "He did say it was on the edge of the desert, right?"
  347. The dry dunes and hills offer little cover, and as such it is easy to spot a point of interest- a dark stain against the beige dust. You also see some distant dust clouds, perhaps of other travelers- or monsters.
  348. Samuel: "Care to wet your blade, Bers? I see something moving, in the distance."
  349. Wizzzargh (GM): You are skirting an edge of sorts now, if that's what you're worried of- you've kept hills within sight to your west this whole time, mostly.
  350. Bers unsheathes a blade.
  351. Samuel: "Excellent."
  352. Samuel heads for the dust

  363. = 18
  364. You are near enough to the dark stain to see it is an arch of stone in a pool of tainted brown water- it is perhaps 200 feet away. about 100 feet away (so this must be related to Bers) is a pack of huge cat-beasts, like the mountainlions of your home but bigger, with red manes., sitting solemly in a circle, facing outward a truly bizarre entity that appears to be burying itself in the sand.
  365. Wizzzargh (GM): *facing outwards in a circle around the entity
  366. The entity is a gigantic maned cat-beast face, with 5 hind legs radiating out from it. It shines and shimmers with distortions like heat on the dunes.
  367. Samuel: "Nevermind. There is entirely too much muscle there for us to kill."
  368. Wizzzargh (GM): Samuel, the spots on your face where the priest of the undersun placed volcanic ash begin to burn with angry heat as view the alien being.
  369. *as you view
  370. Samuel: "I can't tell if this is good or bad..."
  371. We should go around...
  372. Samuel tries to go around
  373. Samuel: (Wizz died, and I;m falling asleep.)
  374. Bers: retreat and come back to it...tomorrow?
  375. Wizzzargh (GM): There is no need to go round if all you seek is the archway.
  376. To clarify, the arch is 200 feet to your right, the lions are 100 feet before you
  377. Samuel: The burning is hard to interpret. Does the Undersun approve, or is it angry?
  378. Wizzzargh (GM): The undersun is not known for clarity of communication, alas
  379. Samuel: Fer real.
  380. Bers: brb
  381. Samuel: "Well, since we're super close to these things, and they haven't eaten us yet, I'm going to guess that they're ok. Let's leave them be and try that gate."
  382. Wizzzargh (GM): The pool of filthy water is dominated by a massive stone arch, wide enough to drive a wagon through (not that it could do so, on account of the thigh-deep muckity muck.)
  383. Six bronze hoops hanging from loops with holes+crystals in them that magnify runes engraved on the hoops hang from the archway, and nearby, there are 6 bronze runes engraved on a plaque nearby F5NJNS
  384. Samuel pulls out his notes and writes down the symbols on the plaque, and on the rings.
  385. Samuel: "Well. Let's go."
  386. Wizzzargh (GM): 375
  387. Back to Kabuli, then?
  388. Samuel: Heck no. We're teleporting randomly!
  389. Wizzzargh (GM): Aight, how will you fiddle with the archway and hoops n looops
  390. Samuel: Whatever they're set to is fine, as long as it doesn't match the two sets of co-ordinates from the castle, or the one on the plaque.
  391. I really want to go screw with the Underlion, but there's a shortage of time, so we have to prioritize.
  392. Wizzzargh (GM): As with the one you found in the castle, you touch the plate. The magnified runes glow, shining 89YFDS bright even in the sunlight desert, and a wind blows from nowhere as a mote of darkness swirls in the center of the stone circle... then the light, wind, and mote fade away after a mere second.
  393. Samuel: It looks like Ni'len is gone, so I guess I'll go talk to the Underlion. That'll totally count as my second pilgrimage.
  394. Wizzzargh (GM): spoke too soon!
  395. Samuel: So I did.
  396. Samuel stands in the center of the circle, and waves the Void Monk to join him.
  397. Bers joins
  398. Wizzzargh (GM): One cannot touch the plate and stand in the archway.
  399. Samuel: "Come on. We'll never find anything by looking where we can see!"
  400. Bers: ....
  401. Wizzzargh (GM): Although... does samuel still have that zombie hand+arm? It doesn't rot so that's not super gross.
  402. Samuel smiles broadly, then places an arm around Bers waist to pull her close, slips his knife from it's sheath, and lobs it softly at the plaque.
  403. Samuel: Nope. It's with the Crow.
  404. Wizzzargh (GM): Alas
  405. The knife does not trigger the plaque.
  406. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: "Ugh. Lame."
  407. Samuel: "I guess someone has to push the button."
  408. Bers: "I shall..."
  409. Samuel doesn't make any effort to release Bers from his suprise hug, and gazes into her lack of eyes with a thouroughly bummed out expression
  410. Samuel: "Maybe we can get the cats to do it, somehow."
  411. Bers: "They may follow."
  412. Samuel: "Yeah. I can stick some meat on the plaque, and see if they lick it off. I think we're more likely to get eaten, though."
  413. Samuel turns on his heel and heads for the cats
  414. Samuel: (Scooping his knife up on the way)
  415. The giant creature has become completely buried by now.
  416. Samuel: (Wow. I didn't think he could do it.)
  417. Wizzzargh (GM): It certainly wasn't a quick affair...
  418. Samuel: awkward wave "Hello, kitties."
  419. Wizzzargh (GM): In any case, the maned cats start prowling towards you, clearly trying to encircle you.
  420. Samuel backpedals quickly
  421. Samuel: I don't like these odds.
  422. Bers: how far?
  423. Samuel: I'm fleeing all the way back to the teleporter, if I can.
  424. Bers grabs Samuel in a similar fashion as he had previously.
  425. Samuel is pounced on from behind as he flees by a roaring beast! 24 6 5 Bers hears the commotion, naturally.
  426. Bers: Time lock one week.
  427. Wizzzargh (GM): Sam grits his teeth against the pain in his back leg and suddenly!
  428. (5 damage sam)
  429. The lions are gone!
  430. Samuel: "Uh... What?"
  431. Bers: "hm?"
  432. Samuel: "The cats are gone!'
  433. Bers: "indeed....
  434. Samuel extracts himself from the hug.
  435. Samuel: "Well. That's good, I suppose. They probably weren't going to push the button for us anyway."
  436. Bers: "How badly are you hurt?"
  437. Samuel sits down and examines his leg
  438. Samuel: "A bruise."
  439. Bers: "I can activate the portal..."
  440. Samuel: "No. I want to go together. We can go back to Kubaldi, or whatever the place is called, and get my donkey. That should do the trick."
  441. Wizzzargh (GM): be night when you get there, so that'll go down tomorrow if that's the plan to send yourself through the current portal configuration.
  442. Samuel: That sounds great!
  443. Wizzzargh (GM): The journey proves...
  444. (To GM) rolling 16
  445. 16
  446. = 16
  447. Wizzzargh (GM): Largely uneventful. The wizards assumed you were dead, but prioritized their research in your absence but you did bump into a search party for you outside town.
  448. And then, on the way back with donkey in tow, you see the lions back atop their nearby hill.
  449. Also -2 more hp for traversing the glass desert, but 1hp of healing overnight in the village.
  450. Samuel is suprised and confused with the missing week, etc etc, rp rp rp.
  451. Wizzzargh (GM): And yer back. The lions look interested in the donkey already...
  452. Samuel tosses a sack over the poor beasts eyes and does his best to get it over to the portal
  453. Wizzzargh (GM): The portal, or the activating plaque?
  454. Bers pats the donkey and removes its hearing
  455. Wizzzargh (GM): Also the wind has moved the loops out of their past arrangement if you care
  456. Samuel: The plaque. Although a donkey is pretty long, so maybe I can do both.
  457. Guide it by the head and back it up into the plaque.
  458. I didn'y realize the rings were that easy to move around.
  459. Wizzzargh (GM): It's like a 10 foot distance. Alright, donkey butt planted on the plaque causes a brief activation like last time.
  460. lemme dig up the past description real quick
  461. The hanging loops are of slightly more interesting construction- it seems they could be rotated so that the attached crystal magnifies different runes inscribed on the loop. There are about 50 or so runes on each loops, but it looks like there are parallels to the plaque-runes on the loops.
  462. Samuel: Google informs me that a donkey is nearly seven foot long. That plus my wingspan should make it possible. Let's hope that there are some safety features on this thing and we don't teleport into a rock or an ocean, or 1000 feet in the air.
  463. I'll move them back to the configuration from last week.
  464. Wizzzargh (GM): You've got just enough time to adjust them before the lions start charging the (thankfulyl deafened) donkey
  465. With you and Bers standing in the archway, you plant the donkey-butt on the plaque and you both vanish- sound good to all?
  466. Samuel steals another hug, looping his arm around Bers' waist, then raps the donkey on the nose, to make it step back
  467. Samuel: (Adventure time. Or death time, but probably adventure.)
  468. (Or sleep time.)
  469. Wizzzargh (GM): Yes, this will be session end
  470. Samuel: Cliffhanger?
  471. Wizzzargh (GM): Wow this was not a faster way to make a new charsheet at all
  472. Charles P. -(Samuel)-: I was wondering why Samuels name suddenly changed to "Copy of Samuel."
  473. Bers: ?
  474. Wizzzargh (GM): ANYWAY
  475. the quick rundown is 375 exploration xp each
  476. Bers: :-/
  477. WOO lvl up
  478. Samuel: Nice. We're both lvl 5 now.
  479. Bers: 6
  480. Wizzzargh (GM): bers also got that long-ago mentioned void monk ability for teleporting to nowhere
  481. Bers: Eh?
  482. Samuel: Lol, you forgot.
  483. You're also the more senior adventurer now.
  484. I'm mad jelly.
  485. Bers: ...Sooo
  486. My brain is gone
  487. we want to make this a ritual thing or a mishap of the rando teleport?
  488. Samuel: Double lol
  489. Wizzzargh (GM): Mishap
  490. It just, uh
  491. forgot to come along
  492. Bers: Noice
  493. Samuel: She wasn't using it anyway.
  494. Bers: I have a cha mod of 0 but... also a cha of zero
  495. Samuel: You're voiding out.
  496. Wizzzargh (GM): and yes on the cliffhanger thing
  497. so no need to stay awake for the session log particularly
  498. Samuel: This also doesn't seem like the kind of session end that will allow for a downtime.
  499. There probably weren't any monster research specialists in Kabuli anyway.
  500. Wizzzargh (GM): Kabuli is pretty sucky for downtime
  501. Bers: Well you get two
  502. I only get one
  503. Samuel: Also, Bers' doesn't have a charisma score of 0, she just doesn't have a charisma score.
  504. Wizzzargh (GM): Nah, Sam entered kabuli for the first time last time
  505. so he didn't get any for the quick stop-by
  506. Samuel: I wouldn't complain about knocking another point off of my blindfighting, as a stand in for the lack of downtime.
