Versions to Play/Buy
There are a ton of Dragon Quest games out there, so it could be confusing on which version you should pick up. Here’s the /dqg/ approved recommendations for each game.

Mainline Titles
DQ1 – Dragon Warrior 1 · 2 for GBC OR the fan-translated SFC.
DQ2 - Dragon Warrior 1 · 2 for GBC OR the fan-translated SFC.
DQ3 - Dragon Warrior 3 for GBC OR the fan-translated SFC.
DQ4 - Dragon Quest IV for iOS, Android, or DS with the party chat patch.
DQ5 - Dragon Quest V for the DS OR the fan-translated PS2.
DQ6 - Dragon Quest VI for the DS
DQ7 - Dragon Quest VII for the 3DS
DQ8 - Dragon Quest VIII for the PS2 OR for the 3DS. PS2 has better graphics while 3DS has more content.
DQ9 – Dragon Quest IX for the DS
