  8. >Dear 18,
  9. >Soooo let me preface this message by stating I know this was in no way your fault or intention, but I have on my desk the payroll for your crystal guards. It should go without saying that I already opened it while doing my usual routine, thought it was something of ours. It’s nothing too revealing, just some figures. I do find it kind of funny, though, the stark contrast in pay our guards receive. That aside, I already know that this was some sort of screw-up on Chrysalis’s part, just figured I’d let you know in this return letter with your forms.
  10. >Keep up the good fight,
  11. >Princess Applejack of Equestria

  59. >As far as Ah' can tell, that there bear-

  61. ~GRRRNNNGGG!~
  62.
  63. >Wants ta' divide ya' up by the legs ta' the sternum with his side of this here gathering, but that there tiger-
  64.
  65. ~RRRGGG!~
  66.
  67. >Wants ta' do it by pound, not length.
  68.
  69. "Really?"
  70.
  71. >Yep. They're livin' in harmony by this, so it seems most of them are real keen on us gettin' divided up pretty equally, but they're havin' trouble decidin' what metric ta' use for the dividin'. By pound, apparently, makes sure everyone gets the same amount, but the meat ain't equal in fat and what have ya'.
  72.
  73. "Right."
  74.
  75. >And by length don't mean that yer' gonna get the same by weight, as some parts are heavier than others.
  76.
  77. "Of course."
  78.
  79. >...But the short of it is, they wanna eat us, they're just bein' all for... what's the word fer' it?
  80.
  81. "Equality?"
  82.
  83. >Yeah, that. They want everyone ta' get their fair share.
  84.
  85. "Of us."
  86.
  87. >Right, of us.
  88.
  89. "...Are we drugged and insane?"
  90.
  91. SHINK!

  93. ~GRRRRGGGHHHH!~
  94. ~RRRRRRAAWWWWWWWG!~
  95.
  96. THUMP!
  97.
  98. >...Well mah dog just showed up and stabbed 'em both with a sword, so Ah'm gonna at least give insanity the benefit of the doubt.

  105.
  106. >Chrysalis
  107. "Twilight"
  108. ~~~~
  109.
  110. Humming away with all of her magic. Thinking away with all of her mind. Creating things which few could ever dream.
  111.
  112. Though she would never say it out loud, Chrysalis rarely grew tired of seeing the princess at work.
  113.
  114. >You are growing close, aren't you?
  115.
  116. "Mmmhm!"
  117.
  118. She sounded chipper, of course she did. She was always quite chipper when she had something new to find, new to discover. Though she had great trepidation on the matter, as she was bound to after the events with her fellow Queen, she nonetheless understood that, in the best of times, this would grant them innumerable strides in understanding changelings. Things even Chrysalis herself could not know.
  119.
  120. And it filled her with fear.
  121.
  122. >You're sure? Not to sound overly worried, obviously I'm not, but I'm not keen on going on a psychotic rampage.
  123.
  124. "Well, don't think you can be too overly worried, but no worries! I'm making every precaution I can. And a few that I couldn't before now too."
  125.
  126. >You're sure.
  127.
  128. "Ahhh, come on, trust me."
  129.
  130. That was the problem, thought the Queen.
  131.
  132. She did.
  133.
  134. "So, what are you planning to do once you get all the info?"
  135.
  136. She was silent, utterly silent. For how could she answer...
  137.
  138. When she herself did not know?
  139.
  140. "Chrysalis?"
  141.
  142. >Hm? Oh... I suppose I'll figure out something.
  143.
  144. "Think this is going to shake things up?"
  145.
  146. >...more than you know.
  147.
  148. Her voice had been low, a careful whisper.
  149.
  150. "What was that?"
  151.
  152. And as intended, the princess didn't hear a thing.
  153.
  154. >Nothing. Well... tell me when you are ready.
  155.
  156. "Of course!"
  157.
  158. So chipper, so happy, so excited.
  159.
  160. She never even saw the worry on the shadowed face as the flames carried her away.
  161.
  162. >I just hope I will be by then...
  163.
  164. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  165.
  166. >Fluttershy
  167. ~~~
  168.
  169. Deeper, deeper, deeper into the forest she went. Past what should have been endless dangers, constant peril, nothing less than an adventure.
  170.
  171. Instead, it was mostly just a pleasant jog.
  172.
  173. >...Should I be happy or worried about that?
  174.
  175. That, more than anything, is what worried her. This was good, thinking about it. Her little animal friends weren't afraid, and that was a good thing. The big monsters weren't hunting them down, and she supposed she liked that quite a lot.
  176.
  177. >But... this isn't how it's supposed to be.
  178.
  179. This wasn't right, she knew. It was not a nice thing, that the small and cute and fluffy would be prey, it wasn't something she liked or wouldn't change if she could, but it was a fact of nature. This is how it was supposed to be.
  180.
  181. But it wasn't.
  182.
  183. >And I...
  184.
  185. More than anything, she wasn't afraid of finding out what was causing this imbalance.
  186.
  187. It was the thought of what she would have to do to set it right. She, if she found it, would have to be the one to doom those poor little things back to the life they had been in before. One of running, of fear... and inevitably being caught.
  188.
  189. >...Y-you wanted to feel like you mattered, after all...
  190.
  191. It hurt, right down to her very chest, how much it hurt. She had wanted this, even if she had been too ashamed to ever say it. She didn't want to get left behind...
  192.
  193. So this was her responsibility. She was the one who worked with animals, not Twilight, not Pinkie, not...
  194.
  195. Well, okay, Applejack sort of did too, but that was different.
  196.
  197. This was on her shoulders. She had to find the answer, and she had to deal with it. Her, not anyone else.
  198.
  199. Her.
  200.
  201. She was going to be brave, she was going to be strong, and she-
  202.
  203. Was going to run like Tartarus from whatever just growled behind those bushes.
  204.
  205. Too late.
  206.
  207. >OH DEAR!
  208.
  209. Her hooves were moving long before her mind was.
  210.
  211. Something behind her was coming, and there was only one thing she could do.
  212.
  213. Run.
  214.
  215. She had wanted this, after all...
  216.

  221. "Discord"
  222. ~~~~
  223. >Welcome to Not Late Night /pa/ with your host Pinkie Pie! It's during this time that content does matter, but I want to crash a couch! Now for our main guest...DISCORD!!!
  224. Applause as curtains open to Pinkie on Discord's couch.
  225.
  226. "I'm not a guest if it's my house."
  227.
  228. >and I was like, Do you have any assignments for the P-team? and she was like nooo...
  229.
  230. "Pinkie, I'm off the clock. I don't have to be in character right now."
  231.
  232. >Isn't acting out of character still part of being a chaotic character?
  233.
  234. "It is, but I just don't want to hear you rambling on my couch."
  235.
  236. >I let you on my show! The least you can do is let me ramble on your couch! C'mon we're random buddies!
  237.
  238. "Just because we're both random doesn't mean we have to hang out together. Don't you have your own friends to bother?"
  239.
  240. >Eh, I don't feel like bothering them. That and the baby secret episode was so stressful!
  241.
  242. "Oh goody...are you going to stay here and complain the whole time? We've getting screentime just fine."
  243.
  244. >But I want more plooooot. If I can't get any canon ones, I'll settle for non-canon.
  245.
  246. "Greedy aren't we? Well, the thing with Rarity and the sexdolls was amusing, that's for sure. Why don't you do something with your friends?"
  247.
  248. >It's hard...*grumble*...Putting them all in eats up character space like crazy...*grumble*...Cheap-ass producer.
  249.
  250. "If you want more adventures from Luna, maybe it's better to ask for forgiveness than it is permission."
  251.
  252. >No, that's rude.
  253.
  254. "What can I say? I'm a rood dood."
  255. Dips a saucer into his tea and eats it.
  256. "Luna's always been the serious one of the two, but bug her a bit and she'll crack. Really though, do what you want. We're in the non-canon realm. It's not like anything is suppose to stick."
  257.
  258. >You know what? You're right...
  259. Pinkie disappears off-screen. Discord takes a bite of his cup.
  260.
  261. "...Do what you want, but not in my house!"
  262.
  263. >I can't take it! Your pictures are slanted!

  285. >At this rate, no.
  286.
  287. "Probably never, nope. Twi's magic, but uh... don't mean anythin's gonna come out like it should."
  288.
  289. 'Yeah... internal problems for me too...'
  290.

  301. 'Yeah...'
  302.
  303. >...huh...

  305. "...P-pass me the mouthwash."
  306.
  307. >Sure... sure...
  308.
  309. '...That shower big enough for all of us?'
  310.
  311. >Only one way to find out.
  312.
  313. "Extra cold, iffin' ya' please."
  314.
  315. 'Of course.'

  325. >...Is fourteen too much? I think it might be too much... or not enough...
  326.
  327. "Fourteen what?"
  328.
  329. >GAHHHHHHHHHHH!
  330.
  331. "Fourteen new roads?"
  332.
  333. >Y-YES! NEW ROADS! THAT IS WHAT I AM PLANNING!
  334.
  335. "Isn't that a bit excessive?"
  336.
  337. >T-THAT IS WHAT I WAS ASKING, YES!
  338.
  339. "...Why do you have a bunch of names?"
  340.
  341. >NAMES FOR THE ROADS!
  342.
  343. "Oh, okay. That makes sense. But yes, fourteen is too much, cut it down to at best seven, don't want to get overcomplicated."
  344.
  345. >OVERCOMPLICATED IS BAD!
  346.
  347. "That it is... bye!"
  348.
  349. *Leaves!*
  350.
  351. >...Thank god her social skills are shit... now, what will I call the eighth daughter..
  352.

  354.
  355. >SA
  356. "??"
  357. ~~
  358.
  359. He found the door through half lidded eyes, more drawn by instinct than any real knowledge of his surroundings. Today had been, suffice to say, not a pleasant one, and he felt the need to ease some of the endless ache.
  360.
  361. He had just the cure for that.
  362.
  363. SLAM!
  364.
  365. >Uggghghghh... hggghhhh... gghhhh...
  366.
  367. "...Was I supposed to understand that? If so, you vastly overestimate my ability to understand incomprehensible gibberish. Considering my day job, I certainly understand the reasoning, but I'm sad to inform you it's simply not the case."
  368.
  369. >Uggghh... munnng...
  370.
  371. "I feel like I'm not being heard."
  372.
  373. He stumbled, wobbled and waved until in his forwards walk, he reached the edge of the bed. He stopped when he touched the sides, his face coming down with a pathetic 'fwup' against silken sheets. He pushed on, legs weakly kicking until they forced his body up onto the furniture, and forwards he went.
  374.
  375. Forwards, until his chin felt a pillowy soft coat of her back, and then came to rest on her stomach.
  376.
  377. "Rough day?"
  378.
  379. Red, bloodshot eyes opened wide, creaking upwards until they looked into pure alabaster smile encompassed by a halo of colors.
  380.
  381. "I do mean besides you being knocked around by a pony, of course.
  382.
  383. >You know, the beating from Maud had been one thing. The near swamping of work needed to assist both you and perform my own duties had been another. Yet, somehow, I'm pretty sure that playing with Two is what finally broke me.
  384.
  385. "Oh, you poor, poor widdle thing."
  386.
  387. That would have hurt if he thought she had been serious.
  388.
  389. ...Still hurt a bit.
  390.
  391. "But really, while I am of course always here to speak or give you due pity, why not go seek someone a little more... 'comforting'?"
  392.
  393. >Funny story about that, that was plan A. That was plan "Hey, Cadence, why don't you and me snuggle." I didn't even want the fun stuff, I wanted snuggling. You know what she said? "Can't, Shiny! I'm going to be busy all night, I've got new hospital openings in the morning, have to look my best!"
  394.
  395. "Well... at least she's being dedicated to her work?"
  396.
  397. >She then told me she was going to the spa to 'get relaxed' first, and took a lot of treasury money.
  398.
  399. "Uh huh... and what about-"
  400.
  401. >Plan B was, sadly, asleep at her desk, and fought me when I tried to lead her to the bedroom.
  402.
  403. "Couldn't wake her?"
  404.
  405. >This red on my cheek is not from Maud. She gets... irritable when she's sleepy.
  406.
  407. "Ah. Yes, I have noticed her morning demeanor is quite unusual."
  408.
  409. >If you undersold it anymore, you would be owing me bits. She's sleeping on the couch she has in her office now, which, sadly, fits one.
  410.
  411. "I'm honestly just proud you went and tried. So, naturally you crossed international borders to come into my bedroom."
  412.
  413. >Figured I owed you one.
  414.
  415. "...I supposed you do. Fair is fair, after all."
  416.
  417. She shifted, shoving all the various papers he had not noticed in front of her before now onto the ground.
  418.
  419. >Did I interrupt something?
  420.
  421. "Oh, I've had to take on an extra load with Applejack on her little trip."
  422.
  423. His eyes were fluttering, desperate to stay awake in a battle against consciousness. One he was losing quite rapidly as the heaviness came. Still, nothing could keep the soldier from seeing if he had been in error, not even his body's own demands.
  424.
  425. >Sorry.
  426.
  427. "Don't be, you've been quite the help in reducing it. I doubt I'd keep from blowing my brains out otherwise."
  428.
  429. >Mmmm...
  430.
  431. His fear seemingly assuaged, his body shifted until it came to rest above one of her shoulderblades, and he felt content against her soft dowry coat, the feathers of her wings tickling him as he moved into a position, and he felt his heartbeat slow down.
  432.
  433. In such a state, he would be too delirious to think straight. Perhaps this was why... Celestia suddenly found herself with a question.
  434.
  435. "...Shiny?"
  436.
  437. >Hmmhm.
  438.
  439. "Do you ever... resent, that you're the only royal without... you know..."
  440.
  441. >...mmm...
  442.
  443. She winced. He hadn't said it, but... there was something there, to be sure.
  444.
  445. Something very strong.
  446.
  447. "Are you still... mad at me, even if you don't say it?"
  448.
  449. >No.
  450.
  451. There had been no hint of doubt, ambiguity or apprehension. Nothing but pure honesty so true it would make Applejack weep.
  452.
  453. "You're sure?"
  454.
  455. >Yep.
  456.
  457. Nothing more said, nothing more done. That was that, the end.
  458.
  459. No speech could have made her feel as at ease.
  460.
  461. "...oh... I suppose I was silly for thinking that."
  462.
  463. Her long neck curled inwards, until just the tip of her chin landed on the top of his snout.
  464.
  465. "I worry though... I don't want you to think that... that..."
  466.
  467. She waited, one part for him to speak up, one part of fear. She waited for a response.
  468.
  469. She got one, in the form of slow, steady breathing, and gentle snoring.
  470.
  471. "...You'd better not be faking."
  472.
  473. But a bit of magic, perhaps more than needed, confirmed he did, indeed, simply fall asleep on top of her back. Resting peacefully with his foreleg draped across her like she was simply a giant pillow, and nothing more.
  474.
  475. Magic summoned a mirror to look upon him. She was rewarded with a serene, peaceful face, and a warm and happy smile.
  476.
  477. Content, she settled in herself, careful not to jostle him too much, and brought her blanket as best she could over both of them
  478.
  479. How he had known she herself was seconds from exhaustive collapse before he had entered, she did not know... nor did she care. He knew, even if he didn't know he knew, that she had worked enough, and it was time to rest.
  480.
  481. But perhaps, not before she could at last finish that thought she had.
  482.
  483. "...I don't want you to think you don't deserve it... you... you do."
  484.
  485. He didn't, and would never, hear her.
  486.
  487. But as she drifted off, there was not a single piece of her that thought he did not already know.
  488.
  489. "You do."
  490.

  504. ‘Hey Celestia…I’ve just been thinking recently’
  505. >Oh? About what?
  506.
  507. ‘Well you remember the gala?’
  508.
  509. >Of course! Most fun I’ve had with one of those in years.
  510.
  511. ‘…I got shot.’
  512.
  513. >…yes?
  514.
  515. ‘Repeatedly.’
  516.
  517. >I recall.
  518.
  519. ‘…’
  520.
  521. >…What?
  522.
  523. ‘Right….I’m pretty sure I died.’
  524.
  525. >Only briefly. You got better.
  526.
  527. ‘Thankfully! But the thing is…I went to hell. I’m going to hell. I’m going to hell and I don’t know why and I can’t stop it.’
  528.
  529. >…you must be joking.
  530.
  531. ‘No really! I saw it! I was in hell!’
  532.
  533. >Spike unless you are secretly murdering ponies and turning them into cupcakes or something equally fucked up I’m pretty sure that’s impossible.
  534.
  535. ‘What makes you so sure of that!? You don’t know!’
  536.
  537. She rolled her eyes.
  538.
  539. >Spike, you’re basically as close as Mom’s come to a grandbaby do you really think she’d send you to hell for anything less egregious?
  540.

  542. <SPRRRFTTTT!>
  543.
  544. High above them at her celestial desk Faust sprayed the coffee she had been drinking everywhere.
  545.
  546. “Holy crap she’s right! Dear! Dear!! Get in here!”
  547.
  548. {Ugh…round 57 already? C’mon babe I need to rehydrate…}
  549.
  550. “That’s what you get for spending millennia juggling a flame monster without ever coming back to juggle me once in a while. HOWEVER! That’s not the issue. Why did you send our sorta-grandchild to hell!!?”
  551.
  552. {WE HAVE A GRANDCHILD!? QUICK BOY OR GIRL!? SPORTY OR BRAINY!? WHO’S THE DADDY!? WHY WAS I NOT INVITED TO WEDDING!!?}
  553.
  554. “There was no wedding.”
  555.
  556. {…I’m gonna go the the thing…for reasons…}
  557.
  558. “Relax! He’s adopted. …and a dragon.”
  559.
  560. {…huh. Well on the one hoof, I can do kid stuff with him for a lot longer…but on the other….not a pony? Does it make me a bad grandpa that that bothers me a little? Not much! Just…not a pony…}
  561.
  562. “Probably worse that we were completely unaware of his existence for over a decade.”
  563.
  564. {And now I feel like a douche.}
  565.
  566. “Hmm…but this raises another question. If I didn’t send him to hell and you didn’t send him to hell then….oh crap. It’s her.”
  567.
  568. {Her? As in HER her?}
  569.
  570. “I’m afraid so.”
  571.
  572. {…I’m gonna go get the thing.}
  573. ***
  574. Somewhere below the celestial offices in what looks like the lab of a madmare
  575.
  576. [What’s this? You want a gun do you!? Well have some GUT WRENCHING ANGST ALONG WITH IT!]
  577.
  578. [Oh? Two mares interested in you? TOO BAD YOU ALWAYS FEEL INADEQUATE!]
  579.
  580. [Married to the mare of your dreams? How about she’s DAMN NEAR ASEXUAL!]
  581.
  582. [Revive your race more quickly eh? ONLY IF YOU GIVE UP ALL YOU HAVE!]

  591.
  592. {Meeeeegaaaaaannnn!}
  593.
  594. [Uh oh.]
  595.
  596. “Hello dear. Do you mind if we come in for a minute?’
  597.
  598. [Do I have a choice?]
  599.
  600. “You really don’t.”
  601.
  602. Entering the chamber Faust trotted over to a table her husband in tow dragging a truly massive war-mace behind him as Megan began to sweat. She made for a nearby table
  603.
  604. “Now now dear, there’s no reason for concern.’
  605.
  606. Reaching the table she summoned a bottle of wine and a glass.
  607.
  608. “I just wanted to discuss some things while we get hammered.”
  609.
  610. Megan relaxed a little.
  611.
  612. [Oh? Like what?]
  613.
  614. “I’d like the dragon’s soul if you please.”
  615.
  616. [D-dragon? Which dragon…there’s a lot you know.]
  617.
  618. Faust smiled.
  619.
  620. “My dear. Give us Spike’s soul before my hubby breaks your legs.”
  621.
  622. The stallion smiled maliciously and readied the mace.
  623.
  624. [Fine! Geeze…let me just…there it is. Here! Take it!]
  625.
  626. “Thank you. Darling?”
  627.
  628. The stallion began to advance slowly on her.
  629.
  630. [B-but you said!]
  631.
  632. “I said BEFORE he breaks your legs. You really must pay attention.”
  633.
  634. […Smoke bomb! You’ll never take me alive!!]
  635.
  636. {…I don’t think I have to.}
  637.
  638. “Darling, Stop.”
  639.
  640. {…Whyyyy?}
  641.
  642. “Because we got what we came for and I’m not having you off another several millennia errand. Besides…it’s time for another ‘juggling’ session.”
  643.
  644. {Shouldn’t we…I dunno, send our new grandkid a gift? Pay him a visit? Something?}
  645.
  646. “We just rescued his immortal soul. That makes up for a few birthdays. Now get over here, I’m feeling…creative~”

  655.
  656. >Fluttershy
  657. "???"
  658. ~~~~
  659.
  660. >OH DEAR OH DEAR OH DEAR!
  661.
  662. She heard it behind her, but could not bring herself to look. The cracking of the wood as it closed in, the snapping of twigs and branches as it raced towards her, keeping up with her every twist and turn and shifting of movement in hopes of losing him. She ran with all she had, yet no matter how far or how fast, that sound never left the close quarters behind her. It wasn't simply keeping up.
  663.
  664. It was narrowing in.
  665.
  666. >OH DEAR OH DEAR!
  667.
  668. Her vision became blurred with leaves of bushes, thick waves of grass whipping her in the eyes and face as she kept going, and going and going. She ran, and ran, and ran.
  669.
  670. Until to her horror, a wall of rock appeared, stopping her with it's immovable surface, and she could run no more.
  671.
  672. >...Oh dear...
  673.
  674. Up to the top she looked, and to her horror, she could not see it from the ground below. A sheer mountain stood between her and freedom, and the sound behind her had only grown closer.
  675.
  676. >...m-maybe this is all just a misunderstanding, and I'm being silly?
  677.
  678. A tree, it's trunk easily wider than she herself was, snapped at the base and collapsed, crushing any hope of that with it's mighty weight. Yet even with it gone, the endless sea of bark was not revealed.
  679.
  680. Her head craned upwards, and she understood why as a massive shadow, easily taller than a chimera, loomed forwards over her, snarling with an unnatural, hollow sound.
  681.
  682. >...oh dear...
  683.
  684. She could not see the face of the timberwolf, nor would she have known it was such were it not for the tell-tale skin and horrid breath. So massive was it's head, the sun itself was eclipsed as it hung it's head above her, waiting, growling.
  685.
  686. Hungry.
  687.
  688. >...M-mister Timberwolf, I hate to be a bother, but... can you leave, please?
  689.
  690. It snapped downwards, twisted fangs of bark closing together just above her head. It had not touched her.
  691.
  692. Nor had she moved.
  693.
  694. >I really don't want to be any trouble, but... um...
  695.
  696. It snapped again, this time to her side. Again, she had not shifted an inch, yet it had closed over nothing but air.
  697.
  698. >...I just wanted to warn you... I wasn't running because I was afraid of you.
  699.
  700. It reeled back, as if it could understand her, as silly as that sounded. Terrifying, glowing eyes crooking ever so slightly in a look akin to that of disbelief.
  701.
  702. >...I'm afraid of me. So please, leave?
  703.
  704. That, it seemed, was enough.
  705.
  706. A massive paw lashed out, smacking her on the side, and sending her rolling along the edge of the cliff.
  707.
  708. >Oh dear....
  709.
  710. What she left behind was more than any mark of a body.
  711.
  712. >I'm sorry...
  713.
  714. It was something else.
  715.
  716. Something alive.
  717.
  718. The Timberwolf screeched and leapt back when the mountain began to crack, a claw of strangely glimmering rock reaching out as if to grab hold of it and crush the life from it in one grasp. Nimbly, far more than she had ever seen any of it's kind do before, it dodged clear, and arced around, fangs bared as it narrowed in on her.
  719.
  720. >I'm sorry...
  721.
  722. Her hoof reached down, and seemed to pull up the very earth itself like a rug, flicking her wrist unequally with a snap and sending out a wave that rolled underneath the beast, throwing it off it's footing.
  723.
  724. >I'm sorry.
  725.
  726. Her hind leg kicked a bit, and before the beast ever hit ground a spring was summoned forth, shooting it straight up into the air with a loud BOING! It flailed around pathetically as it went higher, and higher, and seemed to gulp with fear as it suddenly paused in the air, just long enough to look down and let out a loud yelp before gravity seemed to remember it existed.
  727.
  728. >Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry!
  729.
  730. It landed with a crunch of wood and leaves, snapping every branch on its way back down to earth before kicking up a dust storm with it's terrible landing.
  731.
  732. For a moment, the forest was still once again, and she felt fear.
  733.
  734. >...Oh dear...
  735.
  736. Never should have she felt relief when she heard a roar of anger and pain, but that's exactly what she did. She felt nothing less than joy when the trees exploded inwards, and the beast made a wild, angry dive for her head.
  737.
  738. >Stop!
  739.
  740. She held out her hoof, the very end of it coming down like a latch, and the Timberwolf did indeed come to a stop.
  741.
  742. Beneath the giant boxing glove pushing it's face in.
  743.
  744. It wobbled, it's legs shook, and then like the trees before it, it just came tumbling down.
  745.
  746. >...M-Mr Timberwolf?
  747.
  748. Again, she feared she had gone too far, hit a little bit too hard, perhaps done more than she should... But she heard it groan, she heard it moan, and she felt relief again.
  749.
  750. She concentrated, focusing just as Discord and Chrysalis and Twilight had taught her, pushing it down, controlling it, commanding it.
  751.
  752. Only when the chaos stilled did she decide to step forwards.
  753.
  754. >Oh, I'm so sorry mister Timberwolf, I know you were just doing what was natural, but-
  755.
  756. "D-don't..."
  757.
  758. Her breath, her head, and the very blood in her veins stilled when she heard that sound.
  759.
  760. It had... spoken.
  761.
  762. "Don't hurt me..."
  763.
  764. She gasped in shock and horror as at last she could look upon it's face, at last she could see it clearly.
  765.
  766. It looked like chunks had been ripped out, like skin had been carved and scraped free, like pieces had been torn apart and put back together haphazardly.
  767.
  768. This was not normal, Timberwolves could regenerate easily, fix most damage in minutes, but this...
  769.
  770. This was horrifying.
  771.
  772. >Did... did I do this?
  773.
  774. She had to check again and again to confirm, to make sure, to be absolutely certain without question that indeed these scars were old and faded, they had come and gone so very long ago. It had not been her who hurt this poor thing.
  775.
  776. But someone had. Someone had hurt it enough it curled away in fear from her, as if she were a terrifying dragon.
  777.
  778. >Why...
  779.
  780. "Me just want scare you off... me supposed to scare you off... d-don't... don't..."
  781.
  782. It shook, and suddenly it's wild snapping before made so much sense.
  783.
  784. >Who... are you?
  785.
  786. It looked to her with wide, almost innocent eyes, full of fear, and spoke with a shaking, low voice.
  787.
  788. "Me am... Bubbles."
  789.
  790. She had found something in this forest, and as she put her hoof atop the poor thing, and brushed it ever so gently to show it was okay, she felt her chest fill with something she rarely felt. Very rarely, but always powerfully.
  791.
  792. Anger.
  793.
  794. "Don't hurt me... me just keeping you away."
  795.
  796. >I'm not going to hurt you, I promise. But I need something, please.
  797.
  798. It relaxed, just a bit, just enough she could look to it with her stare.
  799.
  800. She didn't want to use it, but she had to. This was nothing less than vitally important.
  801.
  802. She had found something in this forest.
  803.
  804. She was going to get to the bottom of what, exactly, it was before this day was out.
  805.
  806. And she was going to make sure whoever was responsible... felt that anger in her heart.
  807.
  808. >Show me... what you were keeping me from.

  901. The call came before they even knew what was happening.
  902.
  903. A chime, or alarm, depending. Something that would be hidden no matter who they were. It called to them, all of them.
  904.
  905. The gryphon preparing to speak to the crowd.
  906.
  907. The pony preparing all data for sales.
  908.
  909. Agents far and wide, hidden to all, known or unknown.
  910.
  911. The call had gone out to them, a special one, one that they thought they would never hear. This, as had been drilled in to their skulls with very little remorse, was a call they could not, should not, ignore.
  912.
  913. This was the call to drop whatever they were doing, no matter how important, and come to the call.
  914.
  915. "...Uh... shit, what should we do?"
  916.
  917. To the one part pony, part machine, it left him lost. They were following such a terrifying group, one that abruptly leaving would surely raise eyebrows and alarms for. This, simply put, would put them in danger.
  918.
  919. To the white dragon in front of him...
  920.
  921. "...I think it's pretty damn obvious, isn't it?"
  922.
  923. There were no such questions.
  924.
  925. "When she says drop what you're doing and go to where she says, I think we should go, don't you?"
  926.
  927. Nothing Flash had ever heard had made more sense to him in his entire life, or sounded as intelligent.
  928.
  929. "After you?"
  930.
  931. "Yeah."
  932.
  933. They would have feared the consequences from the glaring ones before them, if they hadn't heard it.
  934.
  935. A hum of power, unlike anything they had ever heard, a sound that shook the heavens and rumbled atop the sky. An airship, so massive it could hold an army, loomed above them.
  936.
  937. So many gryphons rose up to demand it leave, charged it with bravery and strength.
  938.
  939. They were all batted aside by an invisible forced, the airship completely undisturbed.
  940.
  941. "Well, Ma'am... we're here.."
  942.
  943. The mare in the command chair only smiled.
  944.
  945. "Captain, bring her down... I believe it's time to make ourselves known."
