  1. "Alright-" ,Jamey said before she pulled out some supplies.
  2.
  3. Jamey began to lay out a lot of her books, most were holy tomes. She'd come prepared with tomes upon tomes of this stuff. They all bore the holy seal of The Faith, she'd snagged these before leaving Orsona, and looking as The Prince had instead declared war she wouldn't be returning them any time soon. They'd help her with her studies, and they'd lend her that much more necessary information. As she laid them out, she also pulled out a notebook of thin crepe-paper instead of pages. She drew out holy glyphs, runes, and symbols.
  4.
  5. Her goal in all this preparation before training was to hopefully surround herself. Hoping maybe, being around this form of mana, could ease her into the process. She prepared her mindset, she thought to her reasons for wanting to learn, her drive to protect those dear to her. She held onto that feeling. She whispered then in a hushed tone, the name of someone very valuable to her, "Lyn-" ,she took in deep breaths before looking back up at Alya.
  6.
  7. Now surrounded by the presence of bound holy magic, the knowledge of holy magi long past, and a mentality set and driven on learning before the war came to them. An eager determination in her eyes, she was ready! She waited then patiently, wondering what the first lesson would be.
  8.
  9. "I'm ready, Alya" ,she said to the holy magi, "Let's train."
  10. (Jamey)
  11. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  12. It was time to actually initiate poor young Jamey. Gecko had promised, and it seemed Arno was no good there. She herself was busy being a General and all, but it didn't excuse important duty like this. As such, she'd comply and prepare for some training in the outdoors arena.
  13.
  14. "Hmmm. How much have you been practicing, Jamey?"
  15.
  16. Alya sword wasn't draw, and instead the sheath was removed from her belt. Her hand still trembled upon grasping the blade's handle, but it seemed to calm when the actual metal wasn't removed.
  17.
  18. Scales started to become thicker around her body. Golden scale, covering cheeks and hands, though she would not seem to sprout wings like the other drakanites. No, it was a choice of her's, for she was still just a Gecko.
  19.
  20. "Tell me what you've actually learned about holy magic. The fundamentals. And I shall show you how it is used to defend yourself. Yes?"
  21.
  22. A little evaluation never hurt anyway. Especially with war coming, perhaps it was best for the General to clearly assess everyone.
  23. (Gecko)
  24. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  25. She said to Alya then, "I-It took me some time to learn, but I've come to realize that it doesn't necessarily come from your patron. It comes from within you, it is your drive given shape through mana. It is an ideal, it represents your desire- NO! You're NEED to protect. It embodies who you are on a deeper level, it represents your desire to protect and defend what is righteous and true, or at least what one's definition of righteous and true is."
  26.
  27. "It's about being true to your inner-self, the good in you, that connects you to everyone. To the life around you, the good in everyone."
  28.
  29. She held her chin, pondering just what else had she learned?
  30.
  31. "Oh! Wait! This too..."
  32.
  33. She held her hands together, and in her hands there was a glimmer of the most basic of holy spells. She could for a glimmer, a brief period, muster the 'smite' incantation. The ball of light shot from her, still lacking shape and form. Its mana was hard to mold, holy was such a numbing feeling to harness, it made her feel loose. She couldn't hold firm using it. Her hand fell.
  34.
  35. "It feels like... A warm glow, the mana is unique, in that it is a soothing hum of magic that runs through all things good in-nature and being. Again, by self-definition, I think."
  36. (Jamey)
  37. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  38. Jamey asks, "Right?"
  39. Gecko says, "It is contingent on perspective, so you could very well be right."
  40. Gecko says, "Before I dive into theory, I want to see what you can do."
  41. Jamey says, "O-Oh, oh no."
  42. Gecko says, "Don't be afraid, you won't get hurt."
  43. {RP BATTLE} You have LOST the battle!
  44. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  45. Jamie was still inexperienced, that much was clear. A warning sign to the General that Theria may still be too weak for this war. But, this was manageable. Upon pushing back Jamey a little, Alya opted to make a display of both holy and light magic. So she could see how it was applied practically.
  46.
  47. "Not too bad. Perhaps the Golden Magic is what you need to improve."
  48.
  49. With Jamey repulsed, Gecko sought to help her back up so they could resume their course. Alya now pondered Jamey's previous words. Her perspective and experience on the matter of holy magic. The General was going to provide some insight on all of it.
  50.
  51. "Holy is mostly a matter of perspective than anything else. Preserving, bettering, helping, these tend to be attributes of a holy magi. It usually revolves around strength of character too. We hardly ever budge from out stances."
  52.
  53. Though it was a strange phenomenon to see the Gecko. A woman once holding the highest position inTheria stooping down to the level of a mere lizard. Perhaps 'dying' twice can do that to any person.
  54.
  55. "You've seen and even applied it practically to a degree. Now it is up to you to discover whether or not you truly grasp this magic."
  56. (Gecko)
  57. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  58. Upon being helped up she thanked Alya refusely, she managed to clear her loss with only minor and superficial scrapes. If anything she got more an injury from scraping along the concrete as she fell, it was clear this was a gentle magic, and Alya clearly didn't mean harm. Though she didn't think Alya had necessarily 'tried' during that fight, thankful for that at least.
  59.
  60. "Th-The Golden Magic?"
  61.
  62. She knew about White Magic, but gold magic? There was some obvious terminology she was missing, she clearly had more reading to do as well.
  63.
  64. She thought then to the idea of strength of character and her inter-personal perspective. Bettering herself, she liked to think she was one for betterment of character. She preferred enlightenment and understanding over raw power any day; however, grasping the handle of combating this... Numbing, calming, and soothing sensation was a hard one. It wasn't directly harmful, but she was weak to it. It was hard to wrap her head around.
  65.
  66. Then she pondered on Alya's last statement, "Truly grasp it... How do I know if I have? Wh-When do I know?"
  67.
  68. She wondered if maybe she'd not done it right, maybe being so practical about this had been keeping her from just- Getting out and trying it, she thought since she could use the incantation she could learn, but she wondered. Had she REALLY grasped this magic.
  69. (Jamey)
  70. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  71. "Holy magic. We Kriemhild's have our scales turn white and gold upon adopting it. Hence the Golden reference. Though, once one truly achieves master of Light, they become fully white."
  72.
  73. A small tangent, though perhaps it'd interest Jamey to know more about it. The scales on her hands and face were good displays of such. They were more white than gold, unlike Magne's that were mostly, well, yellow and gold.
  74.
  75. "Holy is ultimately a very personal magic. The fact that you can conjure up some of it means you have the right perspective."
  76.
  77. A few steps closer to Jamey. Alya did not have to display more of the magic, for that was not the point, in the end. The imagination was the limit with the arcane.
  78.
  79. "But, I did say there was strong principle of protecting and preserving in Holy. To improve what is there, rather than simply tossing aside what is broken for the new. There is one thing I always teach my students in regards to this magic."
  80.
  81. Her scaly index points at Jamey.
  82.
  83. "What do you think is the most important thing for you to preserve? To protect?"
  84. (Gecko)
  85. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  86. She'd look to where Alya pointed, she held her hands to her chest, she made fists. She thought deeply, she thought of what her drive was. She cared a great deal for Theria, and while at first she felt Theria was that drive she thought back to her time as an acolyte in the church. She thought about how she felt in those times as an acolyte. Her first time training, and her first successful manifestation of the 'smite' incantation.
  87.
  88. "I-It is uhm-" ,oh my god, she didn't know. She thought deeply, she tried to think deeply. She took a second to think, there was a pause before she looked at Alya and said.
  89.
  90. "The things I hold dear, no the people. Those I love, the people I love and admire. The people I more than admire, I can't stand to think of someone coming between me and them I-" ,she dug to deep, she felt POWERFUL emotions, as her mind drifted to the thought of them being hurt. The way she felt about Lyn then, and the way she felt now. Maybe it was, just the wolf.
  91.
  92. She looked up at Alya and said, "My family."
  93.
  94. She didn't have a mother or a father, at least anymore. But, from her time here she'd come to see a great many people as family... A nice slice of Theria held a special place in her heart.
  95. (Jamey)
  96. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  97. Jamey says, "If not... Theria, then, the people in it, I've come to hold a great admiration for..."
  98. Jamey says, "The people who reflect the best in themselves to others..."
  99. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  100. "Wrong."
  101.
  102. Cold like the air of Theria and solemn like the General she once was. Alya crossed her arms and lowered her chin a little, as to be able to see Jamey with her own, two blue eyes over the shades.
  103.
  104. "The first thing you should keep in one piece and improve is YOU, Jamey. With you gone, who will do all these wonderful, caring deeds for your loved ones? Who will make the world a better place? Nobody you can ever be certain of. Except yourself."
  105.
  106. Her golden tail whipped against the stone pavement below her, leaving quite the visible fissure.
  107.
  108. "Never let selflessness get in the way of what's truly right. Otherwise, it is merely repackaged selfishness."
  109.
  110. A few more steps closer, until she'd be at arm's reach of Jamey. Her right hand rose to pose itself onto the blonde's shoulder. Alya smiled, for once.
  111.
  112. "You'll get it. Magne and Arno got it. You will too."
  113. (Gecko)
  114. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  115. "Selflessness was, selfishness..."
  116.
  117. She wondered, so many things. She paused for a moment to consider that, only that, after half a minute or so she took a deep breath and asked then, "So what you're saying is, I shouldn't be so selfish as to forget myself? But, that it's not selfishness because I-" ,she looked at Alya for a moment hoping she was in the right direction, "Because I remember what's good for myself, with the intention in mind of returning that good to others?"
  118.
  119. She thought about it, and after (difficultly mind you) somehow managing to word what exactly she meant, she'd kind've grasped the idea. If that was the correct one, she looked to Alya for her input, is this what she meant?
  120. (Jamey)
  121. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  122. "You can formulate it as you want, Jamey, there is not RIGHT answer, merely a proper perspective, in my opinion."
  123.
  124. A big strange that she said 'wrong', then, though perhaps the General had a specific view she thought more adequate.
  125.
  126. "In the end, Jamey, the only person you can truly influence and change is yourself. Only you can make yourself do great things for others, to change lives, to change the world."
  127.
  128. A bit dramatic, there, Gecko. A light squeeze on Jamey's shoulder would punctuate this little exchange. Jamey had everything she needed to make the golden magic her own.
  129.
  130. "Now. Essentially practice and should you truly believe in these values I proposed, then the arcane will naturally emerge from your being. Alright?"
  131. (Gecko)
  132. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  133. Jamey exclaims, "A-Ah, alright, thank you for the lesson Alya. I'll take to my studies!"
