- The monster barked, angrily, and a pair of vines snaked their way out from the bulb’s base. One lashed out at Squirtle, Samus could hear the tip crack like a whip as it struck him, leaving a slowly purpling bruise on his cheek.
- To Samus, the attack seemed like an insult. Not something that would actually progress one’s side in the fight, no amounts of slaps and stinging whips would knock a guy out. But Leaf certainly seemed concerned, and Squirtle wasn't looking so hot after that either. Besides which, that kind of thing just didn’t make sense for a mindless monster to do. So there must’ve been something that Samus wasn’t seeing.
