  1. Chapter 23 Duke of the Dead
  2. Beckland, West End, in the Odera villa.
  3. The summoned Emlin White took off his hat, took off his coat and went into the living room to wait.
  4. In this room, besides him, there are several other blood groups that the big names want to see. After looking around, Emlin picked a seat and sat down next to a man whose nose was somewhat deformed.
  5. The man had brown hair, red eyes, deep lines and a picture album in his hand. He looked at it aimlessly.
  6. It was Ernest Boyar, a viscount, who had previously provided Emlin with information about the abandoned castle in the centre of the Dreyer Forest.
  7. Emlin had planned to visit the viscount in recent days, but unexpectedly met him here. He thought carefully for a while and began to think carefully:
  8. "Your Excellency, I know very well, where did you get the information about the abandoned castle of the Drayer Forest?"
  9. "What? Your customers tell you there's no old grievance there? Ernest Boyar looked away from the album and glanced at Emlin.
  10. "No, it's not." Without explaining, Emlin insisted on the question, "I'm just curious about the source of that information. It doesn't sound so simple."
  11. Ernest Boyar closes the picture album and points his head slightly:
  12. "It's not a secret. I learned it from Lord Nibbas. Frankly speaking, I've never heard of it before. It's hard to imagine a castle like that in the Drayer Forest."
  13. Lord Nibbas... Emlin intuitively came up with an idea in his mind:
  14. Another trial...
  15. But is such a temptation too dangerous? All the trouble has to be solved by Mr. Fool. Emlin frowned slightly, recalled some details he had considered before, and questioned tentatively:
  16. "Your Excellency, why don't you explore that castle yourself? I remember that you are an archaeologist, and in this process you can also harvest the extraordinary materials corresponding to the ancient grudges.
  17. Ernest looked at Emlin strangely.
  18. "Lord Nibbas told me that it was dangerous, and that it was better not to be near the rank of Count."
  19. "..." Emlin's mouth was half open and his expression was somewhat dull.
  20. Suddenly he held back his anger and pressed his voice:
  21. "Why didn't you remind me of that before?"
  22. Ernest laughed.
  23. "Isn't that obvious?
  24. "How can extraordinary creatures that have been mastered by our blood group in specific locations and circumstances exist without special reasons?"
  25. Seeing Emlin a little confused, he added:
  26. "The normal intelligence should be that there may be ancient grievances somewhere in the Dreyer Forest that some people have met before, but they can't find their origins.
  27. "This means that it's very difficult and troublesome to find those old grudges. The cost of time is probably higher than their value, so they can live to the present.
  28. "I thought you could easily find that information problem, and so did your customers. If they chose to act, they would have the corresponding assurance."
  29. At the first moment, Emlin felt that what Vice Ernest had said was very reasonable and totally irrefutable. He thought that he and Miss Magician were too foolish to meet danger and had nothing to do with each other.
  30. In the second moment, Emlin was shy and annoyed, full of resentment towards himself.
  31. In the third moment, Emlin had another problem:
  32. "Whether or not the information itself reveals danger, Ernest Boyar should clearly inform this, because it is of great significance and indispensable for the follow-up exploration to find out the degree, source and manifestation of the danger!"
  33. He did it on purpose! Emlin made the final judgement in his heart, squinting a little in his scarlet eyes and raising his chin slightly.
  34. "Indeed, it's easy to see, but I'd like to know more about the hidden dangers of that abandoned castle."
  35. Ernest picked up the near-bloody black tea beside him and tasted it.
  36. "I don't know, Lord Nebes didn't say that."
  37. Emlin's face sank and he was about to make a sarcastic remark when he saw Cassimi Odella enter the living room and look at himself.
  38. "Emlin, the great man asked you to see him."
  39. "All right." Emlin restrained himself, pressed the lower half of his vest, and stood up unhurriedly.
  40. After walking down the stairs to the underground area, he finally lost his patience and asked in a low voice:
  41. "Baron Cassimi, who on earth is the great man? What should I call it?
  42. The middle-aged gentleman-like Cassimi no longer hides it, answering respectfully in his tone:
  43. "Lord Olmer."
  44. Duke Olmer... Emlin subconsciously straightened his back and looked at the lampshade on the side wall as if he wanted to confirm his instrument from the projection on the metal surface.
  45. This is currently in charge of one of the three princes of blood, the ancient strong man who existed before the catastrophe, known as the "full moon", over 3000 years old, has followed the ancestor Lilith!
  46. There is no doubt that this is the pronoun of blood history and glory!
  47. Through a double secret door, Emlin and Cassimi came to an iron-gray hall.
  48. The ground and walls here are covered with grass, flowers and grains, and many insects crawl among the dense plants, making Emlin feel like he left the city and went to the suburbs, feeling the vigor of life.
  49. At first glance, there is nothing very strange about such scenes, but if you look closely, many places are extremely strange:
  50. There are cracked mouths above the grass, in which fibers catch pests; flowers pick nectar by themselves with branches and leaves; wheat and other grains are heavy, and occasional wow cry comes from them; pests are divided into many categories, which are different from normal ones, some with snake heads, some with bird faces. Kong...
  51. The more these things go to the center of the hall, the more prosperous they become, where a vigorous grave is entwined.
  52. Cassimi, facing the grave, saluted respectfully:
  53. "Duke, here comes Emlin White."
  54. "Good afternoon, Lord Duke." Emlin was not as arrogant as usual, or even a little overwhelmed.
  55. In the grave, a mellow voice, unable to recognize age, laughed and laughed.
  56. "Excellent young blood.
  57. "Cassimi, you quit here first."
  58. "Yes, Lord Duke." Cassimi responded, leaving the iron-gray but fresh hall.
  59. Emlin stood there and heard a mellow voice from the grave asking:
  60. "In the morning, Nebes said, you have acquired the extraordinary qualities of an artificial vampire that corresponds to the rank of viscount?"
  61. "Yes, but it's contaminated and needs to be cleaned up first." Emlin did not mention removing mental contamination from extraordinary traits because he believed it was an easy thing for the blood group, at least Baron Cassimi had confirmed it.
  62. The Duke of Blood Olmert said "Hmm":
  63. "Very well, I will purify that feature myself."
  64. He paused and said:
  65. "Although the blood race is a long-lived race, it will still grow and grow old, there will be new life and death. Anyway, for a race, it is necessary to train young members, and you have recently demonstrated outstanding talent and ability, which has become our most important target, so, I come to see you personally and give you some tests so that you can grow up as soon as possible.
  66. Excellent talent and ability... Emlin's chin lifted a little more quietly.
  67. He immediately sighed in his heart:
  68. Sure enough, as judged by Mr. inverted hanger, there will be trials, tasks and face-to-face scrutiny...
  69. Emlin responded respectfully:
  70. "I'm always ready."
  71. "Not bad." Olmer's mellow voice came from the grave. "Your next task is to find out the important members of the Rose School hidden in Beckland. In this respect, there are few clues and many situations need to be investigated by yourself."
  72. "The Rose School? Do they hate our blood? Do they seem to accept some of the "primitive moon" believers? Emlin had actually learned a lot about the Rose School at the Tarot Conference, but deliberately disguised it and did not show so much.
  73. "In addition to accepting the"primitive moon"believers, they also occupy a sacred relic of our blood family, which is the original legacy of our ancestors, we must take it back." Olmer's tone was a little more serious.
  74. The legacy of the ancestors... The sacred relics of the blood clan... Emlin did not hesitate to say:
  75. "Lord Duke, I will try to find important members of the Rose School in Beckland."
  76. Olmer's voice turns judo:
  77. "Very well, you wait to get some information from Casimi and find out where to cut in."
  78. Emlin could hardly wait, but he restrained himself and asked carefully:
  79. "Monsieur Duke, do you know the abandoned castle in the centre of the Drayer Forest?"
  80. "Where do you want to go? That's dangerous." Olmer, the blood Duke in the grave, gave an answer.
  81. Instead of explaining, Emlin consulted the Tao directly:
  82. "What kind of danger is it?"
  83. Olmer laughed.
  84. "That castle may be older than I am, and older than the Drayer Forest.
  85. "I don't know who built it. I just know that there's something under it, and there's a big secret behind it.
  86. "Every living thing, as long as it is close to it, is in danger of being eroded by degenerate forces, which we thought was related to the abyss, but when a demon is thrown into the castle, it is also eroded, from cruelty to madness and chaos."
  87. Why don't you try to open the seal and figure out the situation? Emlin muttered in his heart, but did not open his mouth.
  88. Olmer, the blood Duke of the full moon, said nothing more. He ended the conversation and let Emlin leave the hall.
  89. ...
  90. In the evening, Beckland clouds lay on top of each other and drizzling rain began to fall.
  91. Emlin wore a hat and walked downstairs on a sheltered arcade, with scarlet eyes locked in front of Viscount Ernest Boyar, who was visiting an antique shop.
  92. He was annoyed that the other party had deliberately provided incomplete information and subconsciously followed up after leaving the Odra home.
  93. But after a while, he became confused again because he hadn't figured out how to deal with Ernest and how far to go.
