  52. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland in 1997, a comic book fan adopts the persona of his favourite hero to save his enthusiastic friend and fight a tyrannical overlord.

In a ruined post-apocalyptic world, the orphaned Kid survives on his own through drought-ridden nuclear winter, traversing the Wasteland on his BMX, scavenging for scraps to trade for a scant supply of water. When his perpetually chipper, pink-haired new best friend Apple is kidnapped by a minion of evil overlord Zeus, the Kid summons the courage of his comic book hero and prepares to deliver turbocharged justice to Zeus, his buzzsaw-handed sidekick Skeletron, and their vicious masked army.
  54. You know what? This movie is pure fun! It has no pretensions, none... it just wants to be what it is and it does a damn fine job of being it. Sure, it reminded me of all the stuff it&#39;s an homage to... movies like Metalstorm and Cyborg and Spacehunter... but it&#39;s got a charm all its own with the crazy Peter Jackson-esque gore and the thing with available technology forcing everyone to ride bikes. The soundtrack is perfect and everyone plays their part as if born to it. <br/><br/>Does it look cheap? Yeah, it sure does. Is it silly and full of dumb stuff? Yep, and wears it proudly. After a glut of over-produced, overblown, computer-written bland superhero movies Turbo Kid is a breath of fresh air.
  55. I really liked this movie. I had no idea what to expect as I had not seen any previews of any kind. I do admit the opening scenes looked like a made for TV movie but decided to give it a gander anyway. I was pleasantly surprised and glad I saw it.<br/><br/>The plot is nothing super complicated to understand. Although some aspects of the movie are not original, the way it is presented is. Some of the effects are cheesy and low budget, however that is what gives it its charm. It proves that you don&#39;t need multi-million dollar effects in order to make a fun, imaginative, unique movie. The blood and gore scenes are pretty cheesy too. There could have been a little less gore, but I guess the movie wasn&#39;t meant to be take too seriously.<br/><br/>If you are a fan of fun, totally unique movies and have an open mind about movies, I would highly recommend this movie.
  56. A pitch-perfect pastiche that never mocks its inspirations, the picture is silly fun to warm the hearts of aging fanboys and delight hipsters who weren't yet born the first time Mel Gibson donned Max's leathers.
