Man with No Name- Entering Baxter Mansion

The Man With No Name allowed him to leave before urging his own horse forward. He closed the gates carefully behind him and turned in the opposite direction from that taken by Silvanito, made a wide circle of the town and approached the Baxter house from the rear, tethered his horse outside the wall of the courtyard. The wooden gate was locked, but a climbing plant gave him hand and footholds and it took him only moments to reach the top of the wall, swing his legs over and drop down silently on the far side. A half-dozen long strides took him to the foot of the outer stairway and he went up the steps three at a time, on his toes, making no sound.

It gave on to a broad balcony with many windows looking out on to it, only one of which was open and it was from here that he heard the creak of bedsprings, the fast, deep breathing of a man and the low moans of a woman. His lips cracked open to bare his teeth in a smile as he crept along to the open window, flattened himself against the wall outside. The room was in complete darkness, but he did not need to see to know what was happening. John Baxter was making love to Consuelo and from the sound of their congress it had been a long time since she had last submitted to him.

She swung her feet to the floor and padded across to the dresser completely unaware that the Man With No Name had also made a move. His leg came over the window sill and a moment later he had snaked his body and other leg through, he reached the back of the woman in three long strides. As she reached out to turn down the lamp one of his hands covered hers as his other curled around her mouth, preventing her from emitting the scream which her wide eyes advertised had leapt to her throat.
