What is a song? It's nothing but telling something good in a melodious way. When a song automatically flows out of mouth? When somebody is happy. There is a history, before that there is a geography for why the Bengalis usually sing.

Historically the Bengali community is a peace loving community. who does not want peace? Actually the geography has given peace to the Bengali for ages. The Gangetic plain has always given food to this community because it is so fertile. So a small piece of land has been good enough to feed a family. So the natural economy was strong since very long time. At the same time this plain is protected from North by Himalaya and protected from South by the sea. So the people from outside could not upset the social structure so easily. So this community spent their happy lives. Then they had money and peace of mind, so they used to mix up with people frequently and invite others frequently, that set the platform to find a cause to entertain people. So they started the art of singing and dancing. These practices gave them profound peace of mind because it is the base of meditation in modern times.

Likewise when people realised the merit of this practice of singing and dancing, they started encouraging their children. That's how the practice has flown for generations after generations. So it became a culture of the community. From culture people mastered the skill of singing. As quantity and quality both are there in Bengal for singing, naturally famous singers came out.

Later others also got influenced. And it goes on.
